Ich bin wirklich ratlos, wie ich dieses Kurzdrama im nächsten Schuljahr unterrichten soll (ist Pflichtlektüre in Niedersachsen)… Und ich stehe mit Ideen wirklich nicht oft auf dem Schlauch.

Nachtrag: Bin jetzt doch auf 2 Sterne hochgegangen, da es sich in der Unterrichtspraxis doch als lohnenswerter darstellt, als ich zunächst gedachte hatte.

Nachtrag Nr. 2. Wir sind nun auf 3,5 Sterne hochgegangen.
This is what my year 13 says about the play:

Working with “Red Pitch“ was a great experience overall. We enjoyed how realistic the characters are and how they struggle with real-life challenges, because they are our age. We enjoyed the parts where the boys are teasing each other. Furthermore, you can feel the bond the boys have with “Red Pitch“, in which the drama takes place and which is a sort of safe haven for them. It was also good how the play showed the problem of gentrification.
We also liked how the characters interact with each other and the language they use, which was relatable and cool to read. The dialogue between the three boys is amazing and well-written because it feels authentic.
On the one hand, the play was a bit difficult to read it because of how it was written and structured (we would have wished for more plot and more places of action and the ending is a bit abrupt and open), but on the other hand, you could easily empathize with the main protagonists.

WTF war das? Ich hatte ja schon sehr geringe Erwartungen, weil das eine Schullektüre war und die meistens nicht so geil waren, aber das war ja mal gar nicht gut. Manche Sachen die der Autor geschrieben hat, haben gar keinen Sinn ergeben. Weil wie soll man bitte seine eigenen Zähne küssen!!?? Die Art wie das Buch geschrieben war, war auch alles andere als gut. Zum Glück war das Buch nur 66 Seiten lang, weil ich mehr von dem Buch nicht ertragen hätte. Leider ein absoluter Flop!!

saw a production of this at the bush theatre in london. raw. 10/10 production. insane exploration of masculinity in lower income british neighborhoods facing gentrification. crazy how they can stage fight choreography so well in the round.

i definitely recommend watching this one over reading it unless you’re familiar with the dialect spoken in south london, it’s written the way it’s spoken.

Als Schullektüre kann man das Ding in 2 Wochen durchsprechen. Die Figuren wirken für mich alle gleich, mit gelegentlicher Ausnahme von Omz. Das Pacing ist auch... komisch. Irgendwie passiert auf 56 Seiten gar nichts.

To be honest i expected nothing before reading the book but I enjoyed the friendship between the boys
