A Midsummer Romance
Two friends.
One play.
And a town of meddling mothers…
When wedding planner Jess Daniels’s personal and professional life implodes on the shores of Nantucket, Wild Rose Ridge is a perfect escape. But a flood in her aunt and uncle’s basement lands her unexpectedly at the Yellow Rose B&B— a few doors down from her childhood friend’s extremely attractive brother. She’s sworn off love and all entanglements. Her heart just needs to listen.
Professor Caleb Weaver thought leaving the big city university for a teaching position in his hometown would be easy. But between helping his parents with the B&B and getting roped into the town’s community play, he has no time to himself. But when Jess is also pulled in, the late nights and weekend rehearsals don’t sound so bad.
Real life begins to mirror Shakespeare’s summer play a little too much when they are strategically cast as the main couple. Worse, when a last-minute actor is invited to the stage. Can Caleb convince Jess to take a chance on him, or will the course of true love end in tragedy?
With a touch of summer magic, anything can happen.

I love a good story, especially if it has a happy ending! From mountain adventures to Downton Abbey-esque romances, I firmly believe we could all use a little more inspirational and heart-warming tales to keep us up at
night—tales that take us on far away (or not so distant) adventures and speak words of life and truth into our lives.

This was a fun, whimsical and romantic read. I love the setting of the town, Wild Rose Ridge. The town and all the supporting characters all felt like family even though this is the first book of the series I've read. It can easily be read as a stand-alone, but after reading this I definitely want to go and read the other books in the series just so I can keep on visiting the town and characters!
I enjoyed the romance between Caleb and Jess. The forced proximity aspect of it was well done and believable. I also enjoyed getting a small taste of Shakespeare's play as well, since the two lead characters are helping to put on the play.
This is the perfect, light read to enjoy over a summer weekend. The faith journey was well done and didn't feel forced. The author did a great job writing this love story in such a way that it never felt like a novella instead of a complete length novel. I look forward to visiting Wild Rose Ridge again in the future!
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

A Midsummer Romance by Alyssa Schwarz will bring back high school memories of Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, which serves as backdrop for the budding romance between Jess Daniels and Caleb Weaver. As longtime friends, both refuse to believe their relationship could advance to something deeper, even as others try to convince them. Cast as main characters in the town's performance of the Shakespeare comedy, each is forced to see the other in a different light, but the return of Caleb's former fiancee could short-circuit Jess's dream of a permanent place in his life.

This is the last of the Wild Rose Ridge summer stories. Jess and Caleb both return to Wild Rose Ridge just in time to star in the summer play. Quoting Shakespeare all summer doesn't make their journeys any easier. Love this story. The author grabbed my attention right away and kept me turning pages. And looking forward to the autumn series!

A Midsummer Romance is a sweet, light-hearted romance perfect for a summer read. While only 170 pages, Schwarz expertly weaves in lovable characters (including a group of meddling matchmakers), a love triangle, and light-hearted humor. Highly recommend if you like romance that will leave you sighing.
I had received a complimentary copy of the book and this is my honest review.

Really good book
I always enjoy my visits to Wild Rose Ridge. Ms Schwartz delivers a wonderful tale explaining how Jess and Chase fall in love.
I wonder, is there anyone left?

If you’re looking to jump into the wonderful aesthetic of a small town full of romance, endearing characters, and a town play of a midsummer night’s dream then look no further! Full of charm, laughs and love, Alyssa Schwarz builds a whimsical tale where the misgivings of Shakespeare’s play begin to seep off stage and into the lives of characters in the town- right down to the donkey! I enjoyed reading every page of this book. I cannot wait to get my hands on another of Alyssa Schwarz’s novels!
