Repetitive in parts, not always in a helpful way. However, I did appreciate the examples the 4 content writers used—Hannah, Hagar Woman with Issue of Blood, Peter, and Zacchaeus to name a few. They also share a section of “cognitive behavior” like exercises to combat shameful/untrue thoughts with scripture…be it your own or someone else’s.
Highlights: God wants to restore more than He wants to control. We sadly run from our Designer, the only One who can remedy our image—God neither leaves His people ignorant of who they were created to be nor leaves them without the path to wholeness. (Rev. 21) When we try to handle these emotions (rejection and shame) on our own we end up like Sarai and Hagar, either inflicting pain or running away. Yet our rejection and shame should send us to the feet of Jesus. El-Roi, God sees us. Jesus combated social normals by giving attention to menstruating women (who were unclean and untouchable) and tax-collectors. Jesus never changes his mind about Peter who doubted/denied Him. Live since you are set free.
