I liked this book marginally better than the first. The storyline continues after a time jump. There is a lot of action and gore that’s written well. The plot is very fast paced and a lot happens in this book. I like the struggle of the main characters and the new dynamic that’s introduced for their relationships. The ending is satisfying and things get tied up very nicely. There are more spicy scenes and some group scenes that were good. I just had a hard time getting into the post-apocalyptic feel.

"Unchained," the final installment of Genavie Castle’s Pure Blood series, is a thrilling and emotional conclusion that blends romance, action, and deep character development into a compelling narrative. This novel follows Elyanna and her men as they navigate the aftermath of avenging her sister's death, only to face new and formidable threats.

From the outset, "Unchained" captures readers' attention with its intense emotional stakes and richly developed characters. Elyanna is a strong and resilient protagonist who has already endured significant loss and hardship. Her journey in this book is both inspiring and heart-wrenching as she grapples with betrayal and the looming threat to her newfound peace.

Genavie Castle excels in portraying the dynamics between Elyanna and her men, weaving a complex web of relationships that are both tender and passionate. The "Why Choose" MFMM romance element is handled with care and depth, allowing each relationship to develop organically. The bonds between the characters are portrayed with emotional authenticity, making their interactions and sacrifices all the more poignant.

The novel's plot is driven by the tension between the idyllic life Elyanna and her community have built and the external threats that seek to destroy it. Genavie Castle masterfully balances moments of peace and domesticity with high-stakes action and suspense. The betrayal that strikes close to home adds a layer of intrigue and urgency, propelling Elyanna into action.

Elyanna's evolution throughout the series culminates in this book, where she must dig deep within herself to find the courage and strength to confront a new enemy. Her determination to protect her home, her loved ones, and the fragile threads of love that bind them is both heroic and relatable. Genavie Castle's depiction of her inner struggle and resilience is a standout aspect of the novel.

The supporting characters, particularly Elyanna’s men, are well-developed and contribute significantly to the narrative. Their loyalty, love, and willingness to sacrifice for Elyanna are beautifully depicted, adding depth to the story. The sense of community and chosen family is a recurring theme that enhances the emotional resonance of the book.

"Unchained" also does not shy away from explicit content, including romance and violence, making it suitable for mature readers. Genavie Castle handles these elements with sensitivity and purpose, ensuring they contribute to character development and plot progression rather than serving as mere titillation.

The writing is engaging and evocative, with Genavie Castle’s descriptive prowess bringing the settings and action scenes to life. The pacing is well-maintained, with each chapter building on the previous one to create a satisfying and immersive reading experience.

In conclusion, "Unchained" by Genavie Castle is a fitting and powerful conclusion to the Pure Blood series. It is a story of love, loss, and triumph that will resonate with readers long after they turn the final page. Elyanna’s journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the enduring power of love and community. For fans of the series, this book delivers a deeply satisfying ending that honors the characters and their stories.

"Unchained" is book two in the Pure Blood duet, a dystopian why choose romance story with a touch of paranormal involved. I've seen some reviews mentioning they started the duet with book two, but even though this second book has a new plot I would still suggest reading book one first. It provides a lot of background to understand this part of the duet better, and that contains both the characters, their relationships and the worldbuilding.

That being said, I felt like this was a hard book to rate. It starts a little slowish, but once the plot and story start flowing I really enjoyed the path the story took. It was fun to explore a bit more of this dystopian world, and to see how money and power seem to make it harder for other survivors to find their way through life. This book is also more focussed on the gifted and their powers, which made it feel a bit more paranormal compared to book one. The only downside I experiences while reading this second book, was that I was sometimes confused by the timeline. I'm not always sure everything matched, and the same can be said for some minor inconsistencies in the plot development. It was never anything major, so it's possible to look past it, but it feels like this duet might have missed some good beta readers to spot these things.

So, all in all, I liked this duet and the dystopian world the author created in it. I'm curious to see what she will write in the future.

**Please note that there are spoilers for book 1 in the duet, Chained, in this review! Proceed with caution**

After the conclusion of Chained, the first book in the Pure Blood duet, we continue on Elyanna and her men's story in Unchained. In seeking revenge for her sister's death, the price and toll that Elyanna faced was much greater than she had imagined having to deal with the death of Axel and the brainwashing of her other guys. However, when her new home that she's found with her guys is attacked, Elyanna knows that she cannot just sit around and vows to end BHF once and for all.

This was such an EXPLOSIVE and great way to end the Pure Blood duet. While, I was DEVESTATED after the loss of one our beloved characters in Chained and everything else that happened with others, this story is really one of redemption, love after loss, and triumph. The plot was super fast faced with BHF enclosing on Elyanna and the guys from every angle, with the mind controlling and everything that they were subjected to, and the appearance of some previously-thought-dead character??? It really shows how much sacrifice that people go through with the ones that they love and how hard it is to rewrite your history.

My heart BROKE for Elyanna having to navigate all of these things in such a new light, from living life without Axel (and with him originally hating her and wanting to kill her), to dealing with the new Xavi that is still slowly trying to unlearn all the harm that Luther caused, and the new relationship with Bug.

Overall, I absolutely loved and devoured this book and thought it really concluded the storyline well.

This book was a little bit more confusing for me than the first one. There was just a lot of different plans going on, plans changing, people going different places and it was hard to keep track of.

I loved how Elyanna remained a fighter even after becoming a mother. She wasn’t shoved off to the side, she remained right in the middle of everything. We got to see her survival skills in the last book but we really got to see more of her skill set in this book.

I still was missing some of the guys relationships with her. Romans hesitation made sense, but I would have loved to see more love for El from Xavier.

I hope that with that ending, humanity can try and live in peace with each other. El and her little family deserve peace and happiness. I’d love to see Dani become besties with Becks and El. I think her and her husbands would get along great.

El and her men face much bigger enemies in this book. When El , Hudson, Roman and their son Axel settle into their new life they thought all would be fine but with the BHF starting to come after them again for their powers , ghosts from the past start to come out to try destroy them and everything they have built. Nearly losing her neice and her men El will do anything to protect her family. I loved this book so much and it was such a great read , there is lots of action, love and magic in this story and we finally get to see El happy again after her hearbreak from the first book. My favorite has to be Xavi, the emotional battle he goes through to find himself again after losing his memories and make his way back to his family while also doing everything he can to make things right made me fall in love with him and I'm so happy he makes it back to El and her other men.

I actually liked this second book a lot more than the first one! You can definitely tell the author has grown in her writing style and everything flows better as a cohesive story.✨

There is more drama and action in this second book of the duet as well as many more characters. You definitely learn more about the Pure Blood world and the government entity, BHF. 🫢

The spice is also better in my opinion in this second book. It is spicier and it feels more integrated into the plot and less forced just for the sake of spice. It’s meaningful ✨spice✨, if that makes sense.

I would recommend reading the first book and getting through the slower world building to be able to read and enjoy how great this second book is!🖤

Book 2 did not disappoint. After some trauma in book 1 we find ourselves in another fight for our favorite MCs lives.
I didn't think the storyline could get any better than book 1 but I was wrong I loved it probably more. I loved the characters so much, each one and their life story and struggle was such a good read. The integration of the new characters and the way they became so integral and important to El and Hawk. Ghost and Bug are such fantastic characters and every time it was one of their chapters I just breezed through them and couldn't get enough.
I did feel that the ending could've been a bit ....more. I feel like parts were a bit rushed and the story would've benefitted with a bit more detail and storyline. To me that's the sign of a great story I just didn't want it to end AT ALL.
I wish we'd had more of Ghost and Bug and what coulda woulda shoulda. IYKYK.
This is a fantastic duology that I will forever recommend and I'm glad I took a chance on this fantastical dystopian why choose romance!

I received this ebook along with the first one as an ARC from the author!
This was a continuation of Chained, and picks up exactly where book one ends - literally the same day.
I really enjoyed this story throughout both books - it was filled with action that kept me interested and this book had several new characters introduced. It does start out a little slow, but once it picks up, it stays. I really liked that it had chapters from several different characters POVs, that they were clearly marked for who it was and that many of the scenes are told from multiple points of view.
There was a point where the writing was a little stilted when there was some action happening, which I get but reading it was a little difficult as it didn't flow very well.
The final 'big scene' felt a little rushed to me. I don't want to say much more about it because I don't want to put any spoilers, but I felt like the big problem in the story was solved a little too easily.
Overall though, I really enjoyed this story and the characters!

What a way to end a duet… dang. The emotions were all over the place!! There was more than enough action, romance & and the character building was top notch!! This one is focused on the aftermath of death & new threats what that arisen.
Please be emotionally ready for this one, it will be a hard one with the betrayal our FMC has to deal with while just trying to find peace for once; but don’t worry we will have a satisfying conclusion in some fashion I feel haha!!

Book 2 takes place immediately after book 1, so make sure you read it! This is a wonderful conclusion to the story about Elyanna and her boys. I very much enjoyed the dystopian setting and the story that Genavie has woven.

My emotions in this one did not go through the wringer as much in this book as book 1. But there were definitely a lot more scenes between Elyanna and her boys and they were certainly on fire (like a certain someone….IYKYK). Super friggin hot 🥵!

It was nice to get some history about the other characters since we got so much of Elyanna’s in Chained. I really enjoyed Xavier’s growth in this book and have such a soft spot for him. I would definitely love some spinoffs of some of the other Gifted (like Alexi’s group 😉).

Overall, great conclusion and a wonderfully enthralling dystopian duet!

If you thought Chained - book 1 was intense and gripping just wait until you read Unchained. It is another amazing read and full of emotions. The family and support this book has is amazing. Their love and need and want to help is strong. The will to fight and bring peace is even stronger. I loved El, Hudson, Xavier, Roman, and Becks! I loved the intensity of it all! The plot was just as amazing as the first.

Captivating read

I really enjoyed this novel.
Personally I care more about adventure side of the plot and a dystopian world building, and I felt I was lacking some of the development, possibly because I haven’t read the first book .
Romantic part of the story, although rather unconventional, is quite steamy and exciting.

Action packed

“Unchained” is a fun read for those who love a good action fantasy filled with steam. A little unconventional when it comes to the romance, but tons of readers are here for it. Well written, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I started with book 1. Either way, great book to escape into.

Great wrap up, HEA, heroic book. Too much smut in this one too for me, like they just seemed so unnecessary to me. Facing Hawks literal demons and being able to stand strong as a group to take them down.

The amount of times the author used "powers " and "gifts" (like in the first one), you can definitely turn it into a drinking game (.... good luck and have with that)

Again its great to see the world that was created and see the continuation of Elyanna and her men even after such a loss.

Having such a thing to fight for as family is one I can relate to in many way.

A lot more action packed in this book compared to previous and another relationship that emerges between the 4 is so great to see.

This second book left off where the first one did. This one like the first had it twists in it. We see the MMC and the FMC struggle with their grief over what happened to their friend and her lover. The way back for the other MMC and we pick up the fire bug in this one as a friend and more. Someone gets taken here and we find that someone who thought long ago was dead was not dead at all. Really loved this duet!

I love it when I can jump directly from closing book 1 (Chained) with its cheeky cliffhanger, and into book 2! The BHF is not giving up, and neither is Elyanna and her men. Fighting through their grief and the short lived peace, they find the strength to keep going.

I loved this second book with Zavier battling his own demons and Elyanna fighting with all she has to save her family. It is well written, starts off slowly but picks up and ends explosively!!! Not to be read as a standalone and much of the world and character building is in the first book. Believe me, it is a fantastic duet!
