I’m not familiar with Kimberly Snyder’s previous work. However, heart coherence is really important to me and her ability to bridge ancient teachings and the science of heart coherence in a well organized and accessible way is very important work. In all my years of practicing mindful meditation and reading historical, religious, and spiritual texts, I’ve never been able to feel the resonance I do with heart coherence. It is deeply shifting. Instead of managing my mind with my mind and having scattered ideas of the way life works from multiple sources, I’m tending to my heart. It’s that simple. I connect to my heart and everything else falls into place. It’s truly expansive.❤️

3.5 rounded up.
I found this book very simple and easy to follow.
A lot of the things I heard here I’ve read/studied them before. So, to me this was a little repetitive and didn’t feel life changing.
But it could be a great entry book for someone that has just started to become interested in their Spirituality growth.

"The Hidden Power of the Five Hearts" by Kimberly Snyder is a guide to transforming your inner world by shifting focus from the mind to the heart. Instead of letting the racing thoughts of the brain control your emotions and life choices, Snyder encourages reconnecting with the deeper, wiser intelligence found within the heart. She introduces a five-stage journey that leads to heart-brain harmony—a state of coherence where your emotions, thoughts, and energy align for greater peace, clarity, and fulfillment. By retraining how you think and feel, this journey opens a path to a more peaceful, empowered, and connected way of living.

Many people experience constant mental noise, often finding themselves awake late into the night overwhelmed by anxious or self-critical thoughts. This book presents that issue as a symptom of overreliance on the mind, particularly the ego-driven aspects that generate fear, insecurity, and emotional chaos. Snyder argues that while the mind is useful for logic and planning, it’s not equipped to lead us to lasting peace. Instead, we must access a different kind of intelligence—one rooted in the heart. The heart is more than a physical organ; it possesses its own nervous system, sends more signals to the brain than it receives, and plays a central role in emotional and physical regulation.

When the heart and brain work together in a synchronized, harmonious way—a state called coherence—our entire experience of life shifts. We become less reactive, more grounded, more intuitive, and able to see life with a broader, calmer perspective. This book provides a roadmap for cultivating that coherence through the metaphor of the 'Five Hearts,' which represent progressive levels of awakening to this heart-centered wisdom. Each stage involves releasing the grip of ego and reconnecting with the truth, love, and strength that already live within us.

The journey begins with what Snyder calls the Dark Heart. This stage reflects disconnection, when the mind is in overdrive and the heart’s wisdom feels inaccessible. It’s marked by stress, negative self-talk, and inner turmoil. While this state can be painful, it’s also an opportunity to awaken. Recognizing this disconnection allows us to begin the shift toward heart awareness. Simple practices like closing your eyes and placing a hand on your chest can begin to redirect attention inward and generate calm. By focusing on the heart, we activate its intelligence, calm the nervous system, and begin to experience more positive emotions without having to force them.

From there, the Propelled Heart emerges. In this second stage, we start to move out of the fog and regain our sense of vitality. With growing coherence between heart and brain, clarity begins to return, and we start feeling more empowered and whole. At this stage, we recognize that much of what we believed about ourselves—feelings of not being good enough, of being stuck—was just mental noise, not truth. The Propelled Heart introduces practices like visualizing the heart as a radiant sun and aligning the heart and gut to help deepen intuition and reinforce emotional resilience. These tools support a sense of inner abundance and help individuals respond more wisely to everyday challenges.

The third stage, the Steady Heart, is where the heart takes the lead more consistently. This phase is about grounding yourself in emotional maturity and inner calm. Emotional intelligence deepens here, allowing you to understand and manage emotions without becoming consumed by them. Feelings like jealousy, neediness, or frustration are observed with compassion and met with deliberate shifts toward gratitude and love. Rather than seeking fulfillment outside yourself, you begin to rest in your own being. Real love, in this stage, comes without expectation—it’s an internal state rather than something to be gained from others. This perspective leads to healthier relationships and a greater sense of inner stability, even when facing external difficulties.

As your emotional mastery strengthens, you enter the Devoted Heart phase. This is the fourth level, where the heart becomes a true compass. Life starts to revolve around trust in the heart’s wisdom and a growing sense of compassion for self and others. Devotion here isn’t religious but rather a deep commitment to living from the heart. You find it easier to forgive, not because others always deserve it, but because you deserve peace. Letting go of resentment becomes a natural outcome of this expanded state of being. Humility becomes an ally, helping you release control and access more profound intuition. With this openness comes a more effortless ability to flow with life, to make decisions rooted in truth, and to remain anchored in love—even during chaos.

The final stage is the Clear Heart. This is the highest state of heart-brain coherence, where ego dissolves and life is lived in complete alignment with universal love. Here, the boundaries between self and others soften, and a deep sense of unity takes hold. You no longer seek external validation because your inner world is so filled with peace, joy, and clarity. The Clear Heart reflects light like a crystal prism—quiet and clear, but radiating love in all directions. Life becomes a continuous act of service, not out of duty but because love naturally overflows. Even mundane moments become sacred: walking, sitting, or simply breathing can feel infused with beauty and meaning. Practices like broadcasting love from your heart to others help cultivate this expansive state, allowing you to bring healing energy into the world around you.

Throughout this journey, Snyder provides practical techniques, such as heart-centered meditations and energy alignment practices, to help the reader navigate each stage. Nutrition, lifestyle choices, and conscious awareness all support this transformation. Small adjustments, like adding heart-nourishing foods or creating daily gratitude rituals, can accelerate the process of coherence. What makes this path unique is that it doesn’t demand perfection—it invites presence. The goal is not to escape the mind but to bring it into service of the heart.

In conclusion, "The Hidden Power of the Five Hearts" presents a powerful and compassionate framework for personal growth rooted in heart wisdom. By progressing through the five stages—each with its own emotional and spiritual lessons—you awaken a deep and lasting connection to your inner self. This journey is not about striving or fixing, but about remembering your inherent wholeness. When you live from the heart, you access a greater intelligence that can guide you to live with clarity, joy, and purpose. The transformation doesn’t just benefit you—it radiates outward, touching the lives of everyone you encounter. Through heart-brain coherence, you return to your natural state: peaceful, powerful, and connected to all.

I absolutely loved this book. The author debunks the notion of the heart being responsible for emotional decisions versus the pragmatic mind. It’s quite the contrary, the mind is synonymous to the “ego” and “wild horse mind” and the heart is where pure love and peace are.

This is a book I’d love to read over and over to fully practice its teachings. There are many meditations the author shares to gain peace and strength. She also refers to many well known yogis and the practices of Heart Intelligence.

After reading this book I gained more awareness to self, community and inner strength.

Kimberly, I'll tell you, you gave me a slice of cake, and you just gave me a slice, because you're telling me about how you're going to make my heart healthier. And you did do a little bit. You really didn't go into it that deeply, though. It was more of just, like, classic emotional regulation and self-help, which is good stuff, really, definitely good, but don't promise me my whole cake. I want my whole cakeAlso, the dietary things about eating what makes you feel good is bad advice..moderation.

3.5! I actually loved the concept of this book and it has principles that are simple yet profound. I listened to the audio book, which has meditations and practices throughout. I would have loved to see these in a separate chapter/section because often times when I’m listening to audio I’m driving or doing something where I can’t drop into a meditation at a moments notice. The PDF it comes with is great and the author is likable. You could probably read a summary or Google this concept and get what you need.

This was a detailed and comprehensive explanation of our “heart brain” and how much “thinking” happens in our hearts. This book made me feel so empowered and gave me the warm fuzzies with the constant reminders that compassion and love and the greatest gifts we can offer others and ourselves. The book gave detailed instructions for specific heart opening meditations and exercises which I loved!

Good advice and practice would've like to see more science

Good advice and practice would've like to see more science. Main thing is to connect and breathe love into your heart daily to create coherence between brain And heart. That just gets repeated in every chapter.

I love that this book is laid out with practical ideas to try and provides research to support them. We could all use to look into our hearts and connect to it more in this world. It is a lot of information, but it’s an easy read that you could go back to re-read/refresh.

I liked the concept, but long story short: the more love you have in your heart, the better life will be. This could be a good read if you’re new to this way of thinking but for me, it was simply a reminder.

I love pretty much anything written by Kimberly Snyder. She has an incredible talent at distilling esoteric concepts and scriptural texts and applying them to the age we live in for both the deeply spiritual and those just curious and beginning that journey.
