Brittany My boss’s brother comes by the brewery almost every day to talk to me, and although I pride myself on being a strong woman, I’m not made of stone. Logan Garrison is the most notorious player in Highland Hills, and I’m falling for him.
When he rescues me from a winter storm in his tow trunk, I make the stupidest decision possible and kiss him. He kisses me back, and for half a second I’m in heaven, but then he tell me it was a mistake.
He was right. It was my mistake. And I’ll do everything in my power to make sure it never happens again. I’ve already divorced a philanderer—I’m not about to chase after another womanizer.
Logan My family’s been through the wringer, and if I’ve learned anything, it’s that I’m clueless when it comes to love. Still, I’m falling hard for Brittany, and with the help of a Christmas tree, a matchmaking romance novelist, and a dating app, this player is about to learn a new game.
**An interconnected standalone novella in the Highland Hills series**
ANGELA CASELLA lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband, her daughter, and their ill-behaved corgi in an extremely small bungalow. She spends her days writing and pretending to market. She writes solo romcoms and also has three co-written series with Denise Grover Swank.
I could have sworn I'd kept at least a few notes about this, but apparently not. I'll have to work from memory. Unfortunately, I honestly don't remember much about this other than that it was just okay.
The main character, Brittany, works at a bar and has a serious crush on her boss's brother, Logan. If I remember right, Logan was interested in her when they first met, but she was married, so he didn't say anything. Now that she's divorced, there's nothing standing in their way except their own issues.
The romance itself didn't make much of an impression on me - it probably didn't help that I haven't read any of the other works in this series (this novella was a freebie I acquired at the last Book Bonanza). The most memorable bits, for me, were the matchmaking romance author who literally wrote the main characters of this novella into her latest book (I'd think that would feel super weird in real life, but what do I know?), and the fact that Brittany and Logan got caught having sex behind the bar by Logan's brother, Brittany's boss, and this was treated as more mildly amusing than anything.
Anyway, this wasn't bad, I guess, but it didn't prompt me to look up any of the author's other works.
Logan is known as the Highlands Hills player and while Brittany knows he is nice to look at, she doesn’t put up with his play boy ways. And, she also works for his brother Cole.
But when Brittany finds herself in a bind, multiple times, who is it that comes to the rescue?! No one other than Logan Garrison himself!! And he sure is a swoony lumberjack of a man!! With those sexy hard working man muscles from working in his garage. Yummy! Yummy! Come to mama!!! 💋
And Logan loves stopping by his brothers brewery on the regular- not to visit with his brother, as Brittany thinks, but more to flirt and keep an eye on her, the girl he has always thought was beyond his reach… but now that she is divorced, will he get a chance?! Or will she just continue to be the sexy hot divorcee managing the brewery?!
This is such a fun quick read, full of fun, spice and a great storyline with side characters that will have you giggling!
Loved this book and can’t wait to see what Angela has up her sleeve next!
This was a fun and quick read. Though it’s part of a series-you can definitely read this as a stand-alone but it was fun to hear catch up with some of the other characters. Logan and Brittany have great chemistry and there’s a bit of a forbidden romance, since Logan’s brother warned him away. Sweet and heartfelt read.
I really love when an author turns a newsletter bonus into a full fledged novella AND releases it into the wild! I am so excited to add it to my series collection. I enjoyed this fun little quick read and thoroughly love all the characters. I held out hope for these two when we met them in Matchmaking a Single Dad and I was not disappointed.
4⭐️, 1.5🌶️ - Great novella to wrap up another fantastic series!
I loved this series, and I was always waiting for a book about these two characters, so I was super excited when Angela started putting out their story in chapters in her newsletter. When I got the chance to get the whole story in its entirety as the complete novella, I was more than happy to reread it.
Logan and Brittany are great characters, and are important in the lives of our favorite characters in the Highland Hills series, and it was great to see them find their HEA together in this story. It wasn't without its ups and downs, but it also had some great themes and messages about believing in yourself and ignoring the negativity.
Logan had to learn how to get out of his own way, and Brittany needed to learn how to value herself enough to believe she was worthy of the love Logan clearly had for her. There was some heat, some awkwardness, some laughs, some sweetness and swoon, and it was all wrapped up into a neat little novella package. 😍
I would read this after reading the whole Highland Hills series, since there's a lot of characters and events that won't make much sense without having read the other books first. But I would recommend reading the series anyways because it's great, so I don't think you'd find it to be much of a hardship. 😉

Matchmaking a Player is a novella from the Highland Hills series that can be read as a standalone (but just read the whole series; it's all great)! Logan is the brother of Cole, who is now dating one of the Mayberry sisters - heirs to a matchmaking service that they revamped. Brittany is one of Cole's bartenders. Logan, like his brother, was a player. Brittany was married to a man who constantly cheated and is struggling with some self esteem issues. While attracted to each other, they both have reasons for not wanting to pursue each other.
I read this as it came out in Angela's newsletter, but had really loved these characters so gave it another read when it came out as a novella. I normally hate novellas because I feel like you don't get to know the character well enough. This is the type of novella I can get behind - I already knew these characters from other stories so I had enough of a backstory to be invested in them. I think it helped too that I originally had it spaced out because chapters were released weekly at most. The rereading made me realize that we still need a story about Midge!
Who is matchmaking who? Logan is most definitely the player, we who’ve read the Highland Hills series before know of him. We also know Badass Britt, Brittany. Coming of a divorce after being cheated on, she’s not in the market for a relationship with reputed player Logan, who’s also the brother of her boss.
I love reading this kind of series, where side characters end up main characters and you still get to hang around with previous main characters, that you love, and follow up on their lives.
Brittany is a character that I got attached to the first time she appeared. I’m so glad to get to read her story. Logan was a nice surprise. He has been in previous books but didn’t resonate with me then, in this book he does though.
In a relatively short story we get a lot of emotional and true ringing backstory and personal revelations.
I loved every minute of reading this book!

It seems love always finds you when you least expect it. Logan definitely wasn’t looking for it. Logan is Cole’s little brother and he’s definitely a player. Cole has warned him away from Brittany because she has become family to him and his daughter Jane and Cole doesn’t want Logan to hurt Brittany. Brittany is a bartender at Ziggy’s, the bar Cole owns, and she has a way of bringing people together. Due to her upbringing and failed marriage, she is very self-conscious and lacks confidence in herself. Logan is not a bad guys by any means, but he has this fear of losing people, that is holding him back from getting close to anyone. He and Brittany could be amazing together if not for his fear of losing her and not feeling like he’s good enough for her. I really enjoyed this novella set in Highland Hills. There were funny, heartwarming, and serious aspects to the story that kept me yearning for more. I definitely want more, but I’m happy with what I got!
This Novella features Logan and Brittany from the Highland Hills series. Brittany works for Logan's brother Cole. The 2 have been fighting feelings for each other for awhile. Logan doesn't date seriously so when he gets all these big feelings for Brittany he doesn't know what to do with them. Naturally that means he ends up doing all the wrong things until he finally figures out the right one. Brittany has been cheated on in the past by her lower ex husband, so she's a bit cautious when it comes to Logan's player ways.
But when a storm causes sparks to ignite (figuratively) it gives them both the opening they've been wanting. While they manage to fumble their way through their challenges, they end up with the HEA in the end.
You get bits and pieces of their story in the Highland Hills series, but with this Novella you're given their entire story and it's a great addition to the series.
This is my first Highland Hills story I've read and this is a short story in a series. It absolutely can be read as a standalone with no confusion on who people are. Angela Casella did a wonderful job of introducing other cast members from her world of Highland Hills without making it hard to follow along.
So for the story itself. I adore Brittany and Logan, two characters with flaws. With the help of their friends and family, they have a lot to overcome to be together. It's a well-rounded journey with great pacing, and I didn't feel I missed anything by it being a short read.
The supporting cast members in the book had just the right amount of background to not take away from the story, but I also want to read all the other books now. Which I will be doing!
This is a perfect book to read if you want something quick and still get all the wonderful swoony feels romance give us readers.
Angela Casella's Matchmaking a Player was a lovely addition to the HH Matchmaking series - Brittany and Logan have an obvious attraction to one another, but Brittany's past doesn't allow her to see Logan as he is now - Logan is clearly infatuated from the very start! Once she realizes it (and gets out of her own way), it's a fun romp to the finish!
I love Casella books because they're fun, with LOL moments throughout. For those of you who prefer sweet and/or clean romances, you probably wouldn't want to pick this one up. But for those of you who, like me, don't mind some cussin' and some lovin', you'll enjoy this novella. More, if this is your first Casella, it will make you want to go out and get some more!.

This novella is a part of the Highland Hills series. It follows the story of Brittany and Logan. This is a small town, rom com with a blue collar hero showing there is love after divorce.
Brittany was burned by her player ex husband. So she's trying to find herself again. However, she seems to be attracted to her boss's brother, Logan, who has the "same" characteristics as her ex. Brittany's problems start when her car stalls in the middle of a snowstorm & Logan, the mechanic & local tow truck, comes to rescue her. Here is where our sparks fly!
This was a fun, sassy story. A great beach read. I definitely wanted more of this novella. Also this dedication is NOT to be missed. If you have wanted to read one of Angela Casella's books this is a great introduction to her writing.
Seriously, is anyone in Highland Hills NOT hot?! I'm absolutely obsessed with this series. This time the story revolves around Brittany. Who does she sort-of-not-so-secretly have a thing for? None other than her BOSS's BROTHER Logan. Logan's got a bit of a reputation for being a player and Brittany was already married to a cheater once, so she's got to get this under control.
Meanwhile, Logan may have just found the girl who makes him want to quit the game. Honestly, he seems like the kind of guy that I'd want in that town! HAHA.
This installment is a bit shorter, reading more as a novella. But don't worry, it doesn't lack anything. It's still got all the love, drama, and back and forth that we all know and love from the Highland Hill series. You won't regret picking this up!.

I loved this enemies to lovers healing romance. It had wonderful mix of sweet, spice, angst, and real life issues. Brittany works at Ziggy Brewery and is recently divorced from her cheating husband. Logan is a mechanic, the brother of Brittany’s boss, and has the reputation of a player. There is intense mutual attraction and chemistry between them but neither of them can get past their painful pasts long enough to do anything about it. They just need a little push to take the risk. Despite being short, the story was well written and included three dimensional characters who grow, big feels, and an engaging storyline. I’ll be reading the next book in the series since I loved the tease of it from this book. 4.5 stars.
I was so glad that we got a more in depth look at two characters we met from the Highland Hills series. If you haven’t read the series you will be able to enjoy this novella but I think the build-up throughout the series just makes this one more rewarding. Brittany works for Logan’s brother at the brewery and is off limits. Logan is a player and is everything that Brittany shouldn’t want. These two have chemistry that anyone can see but the reasons that they can’t act on it are complex. As I learned more about their past and reasoning for their relationship decisions the more, I was cheering for them to get a HEA! This is a quick read and you’ll be so glad to finally get Brittany and Logan’s story!
“Matchmaking a Player” is a really cute romantic comedy by Angela Casella, and it’s Logan and Brittany’s story.
Logan and Brittany had strong feelings for each other, but they had to get through a few obstacles that were in their way before they could find happiness together.
Logan was a very protective hero, and it was obvious that he really cared for Brittany, even if he didn’t always know how to express himself properly.
And Brittany! I loved that she knew what she deserved and how she refused to settle for anything less. I thought she was incredibly strong as well.
I love Angela Casella’s writing style, and this novella held my attention from start to finish. This was definitely an enjoyable read, and I would recommend to fans of small town romance novels/novellas!
What a fun, quick read that is full of amazing banter, action and a great love connection. Even though this is a novella, you still get a full story that will make you laugh, swoon and cheer for an HEA.
Brittany and Logan are keeping their hidden feelings from one another for fear of getting hurt…past experiences have led to these feelings for both of them. However, fate and their undeniable attraction has a way of changing that.
That two are really sweet and caring…their conversations and overall dialogue is fantastic. The Christmas tree scene is one of my favorites!!
If you haven’t already, check out the other books in this series…they are all fantastic!!
This novella is part of the Highland Hills, Matchmaking series. You don’t need to have read the rest of the series, but it definitely adds to the enjoyment as you would already know the main characters, Logan (player) and Brittany (badass barmaid).
I really enjoyed these characters discovering their feelings for each and realising that it was in fact love not hate that drew them together. The story is full of tension and angst, as the enemies to lovers story develops, but also has a wonderful mix of sweet & spicy romance.
Despite being short, the story is full of fun and action, it is well written and includes lots of characters we have come to love in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Cute romantic novella. This is a stand-alone story in the Highland Hills series. This tale involves Cole’s (From ‘Matchmaking a Single Dad’) bartender, Brittany & his brother Logan. I really enjoyed the vibe of this story as the two protagonists circle each other neither wanting to admit they are attracted! Brittany doesn’t trust Logan as he has a different woman every week and she is still smarting from her divorce from her cheating ex. I loved the way, even when they finally give into their feelings there are still misunderstandings to iron out before they can get together. An enjoyable steamy read with the obligatory HEA.
Logan and Brittany are the definition of opposites attract. She is a bartender at his brother’s bar who has had her fill of men. After her divorce, her dating game is lacking and while shes definitely interested in Logan, she’s not going to tell him that… Logan has it bad for Brittany but he’s been busy breaking hearts all over town. He’s also not confident in being serious with anyone since he’s lost people close to him in the past. Mistakes are made, advice is given and a few punches are thrown in their quest for romance.

I absolutely love these books. Badass Brittany acts tough, but she isn't as tough as she puts off. You never know what someone is dealing with just by seeing the smile on their face.
Logan has dealt with so much loss, he's scared to fall in love, but Brittany might just be his downfall.
I love his protectiveness of her when they're dealing with issues at the bar.
The two different narrators makes it so much fun to see it from both the mmc and the fmc point of view.
If you haven't read any of Angela's books, you are missing out. Don't wait. Get this book!.

After what she experienced with her now ex-husband Brittany is not sure she is ready to be with anyone but especially a man like Logan. Not only is he her boss’s brother but his reputation when it comes to women precedes him.
Logan has been attracted to Brittany for a while, but he knows that she is off limits. He is there for her when she needs someone the most and one kiss will change everything and now he needs to convince her.
I enjoyed seeing the transformation of Logan who went from only ever wanting one night with a woman to finding the one in Brittany. Their journey wasn’t without it’s setbacks but they show how special love can be with the right person.
This is an easy to read novella that ties into the "Matchmaking" series, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. But I have to warn you, you're going to fall in love with Highland Hills, and need to read more!
Brittany and Logan have harbored feelings for each other for some time, second guessing their worths, so it was nice to have their HEA.
This is a entertaining story and I suggest reading the other books in this series. Once done with those, grab others from this talented and creative author. Worth your time, IMO.
I loved going back to Highland Hills and visiting my friends. I always loved Brittany and Logan’s banter in the series, so was excited to get this novella that is dedicated to them. While it may be a novella, the story and characters are well developed, and we get a little more to the backstory of each of them. I really wish we got a full novel with Brittany and Logan, but I’ll take any breadcrumb I can get. Great addition to the series!.

Cute, Stand-alone Novella that is Part of a Series
This is a fast easy read that takes us back to small town Highland Hills. Logan and Brittany have "crushed" from afar, but not acted on any feelings believing they "weren't good enough. It was sweet to see their walls come down and for them to find true happiness with each other - Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC of this book by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I loved this story. This was originally offered to newsletter subscribers as a serial. It is nice to have it in book form. If you've read Matchmaking a Single Dad, which is part of the Highland Hills series by Angela Denise, you will have had an inkling that Brittany and Logan would get together. Their story is short, but sweet. I enjoyed the growth that both characters went through. I love that they get a happily ever after together.
This is my sixth or seventh Angela Casella book. It was a cute novella. Logan is a known player and Brittany is getting over a divorce. He is also her boss's daughters. Brittany knows she shouldn't be interested in anything with Logan and Logan was warned away from Brittany.
My Thoughts:
This was a cute novella. I liked Logan and Brittany and the chemistry between them was well written. My issue with Matchmaking a Player is the story felt too rush and should have been a full length novel. Overall, it was still enjoyable and I will continue to read books by Angela Casella.

Love this series! We’ve known Brittany for awhile as the bartender at the local brewery and Logan is the brewery owner’s brother. He’s had a bit of unrequited love for Brit but she was married to a loser, now she’s single. Their story unfolds about the same time as Ivy and Lou’s story, a bit of the story overlaps. It’s a short story, just a novella, so it’s quick yet gets to the point. I was able to read an early copy and leave my honest review.
This is the perfect short read! I've read all of the books in the Highland Hills series. Angela does a great job of packing a lot of emotions, action, and steaminess into a shorter story. You get to see Cole, Ivy, and Holly again and there's a perfect setup for the next installment. Logan and Brittany are perfect for one another. Loved it!.

It's the story about Britainy and Logan finally admit their love for each other. But, it's actually more than that because they both have to mature enough to lose their real fear of making mistakes, and mistakes that will break them up. Once they do that, everyone is happy because they are the last two people to recognize the love they have for each other is strong enough to keep them ❤️.
