Smart, Creative, Great Characters

As the third of the DRC Files, the story continues with excellent continuity, evolving in a logical manner and the characters are growing and changing realistically. The world building is more evolved than what I have been reading by other authors recently, and is greatly appreciated. This is a no nookie series so far, and it is a tremendous relief not to have to put up with smart women suddenly turning into vapid victims. Hooray for Kevin!

The world building is based on present day Earth, with the hidden presence of multiple universes just beyond comprehension. As in the previous two books the storytelling is tight, editing is well done, and it is overall an excellent series for serious paranormal readers.

The newest case for the DRC team takes them to Winston Salem, NC. They are called in to investigate the attack on a presenter at a conference. Kristin is still having a bit of conflict with her daughter over a vision her daughter had of Kristin’s death in Taurus. Since this case has connections to Taurus Kristin might be at risk. Kristin does seem to be getting more and more comfortable with her place on the team. There are changes coming to the DRC and it will be interesting to see how they play out. I highly recommend this series.

This is a darker than average book for this series, but bearably so. Davis continues to advance both the characters and the team and I will look forward to the next book in this universe. (Though I could live without the team's vampire!)
