Broken Pieces

Rate this book
Aria

My life’s nowhere near perfect. Sure, being a top curator in the industry should be a big deal, but it’s like walking a tightrope between my true passion and trying to pick up the broken pieces of my life.

Then there’s Damian Romano, the source of my frustration. He’s an arrogant, self-centered, ruthless businessman. Yet, the more time I spend with him, the line between his true self and the facade he presents to the world blurs. I hate it. Hate not knowing who the real version of him is.

I hate everything about it. Everything but him.

Damian

My life’s a chessboard of calculated moves—it’s how I’ve thrived, after all. The world sees me as a cold, self-centered businessman who’s got it all figured out. Little do they know, it’s a carefully crafted act to shield the broken pieces of my life that I’ve been desperately trying to piece together on my own.

Then there’s Aria Petrov, the source of my undoing. Her fire, kindness, and dedication start breaking down my carefully crafted walls. The more time I spend with her, my control unravels. Yet, I can’t seem to stay away from her. I hate it. Hate not being in control. Hate that she’s the exception to the rules I set.

I hate everything about the chaos she brings. Everything but her.

This book surprised me in the best way. Aria’s journey hit me right in the chest. Seeing her slowly get comfortable with her natural curls after years of being told they weren’t “professional” felt so real. Her mom’s comments clearly planted trauma that grew way deeper than she ever admitted, and watching her finally unlearn all of that? Ugh, I loved it.

Damian was precisely the kind of partner she needed. He didn’t try to “fix” her, but instead he showed her that she was already enough. But he wasn’t just a walking pep talk; he had his own mess to deal with, and Aria matched his energy by helping him face the demons he had been avoiding for years. Their connection felt like two broken puzzle pieces snapping into place.

Now… the reason this isn’t a 5-star read: Henry and Sophia. Those two absolutely stole the spotlight every time they showed up. They were mysterious, dramatic, and magnetic. I was lowkey counting the pages until they popped back in. As much as I enjoyed Aria and Damian’s story, the side characters were giving main character energy the entire time.

Still, this was a fun, emotional read, and you better believe I’m diving straight into book two. Henry and Sophia? Yeah… I’m coming for you.

First off… thank you so much for this ARC read. I dreaded arcs because to me they feel like a job but this book changed my mind forever on ARCs. For that I am grateful.

On to the book. Ummm wow. I loved this book far more than I thought I would. Workplace romance between the CEO and a beautiful woman he hires and can’t get out of his head. The fun banter between the two characters was so fun. The buildup was great in the storyline. Both came from crappy home lives (crappy parents), both struggle with insecurities, and self worth. Neither looking for love when they stumbled across each other. It’s a great love story with a level 2 maybe 3 when it comes to spice. It’s worth the read 100%.

I can’t wait until the second book comes out already!

Holy fucking shit, first of all, thank you so much for the opportunity to ARC read this book because I absolutely fucking DEVOURED it. It was truly incredible. Now, Alex can go jump of a fucking cliff, oh my god what a cunt. If I could climb into the book and kill him I WOULD!!! But no more talking about THAT thing. The banter between Aria and Damian was top fucking tier, honestly, they were so fucking funny. I love that she ALWAYS had a comeback, that she always had something to say was absolutely PERFECT. I love Sophia, those two are friendship GOALS!!!! And oh the way her and Isabella became friends so fucking was absolutely perfect. The scene at the club? Wow. I. Love. HIMMMMMM. The fact Damian would NOT take no for an answer was the funniest shit, mf deadass showed up at her favourite coffee shop, but the way she never took anyones shit ESPECIALLY his, fucking iconic. That man was so in love it hurt. And oh my, the mouth on this man, WOW. Speechless. He had me Blushingggg. Istg, if I talk anymore I’ll spoil it but wow. You should ABSOLUTELY check it out!!!

The dedication alone had me loving this book!

This book was beautiful. The writings, the characters, the tragedy/trauma and the ending was just beautiful and flowed so well together. Aria was a little sassy and overall badass (even if she didn’t see herself that way) and the way Damien loved this woman so passionately and fully was so good to read and see grow. My favorite part was when Damien turned to her and basically was like “we’re end game baby” and Aria was sitting there like 😯

The two were just two broke souls that came back together and healed one another. I found that I couldn’t put this one down it was that good. Just the right amount of angst along with hurt/comfort. And the spice was 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Damien’s dirty, filthy mouth 🥵🥵🥵 lord have mercy? I had to fan myself a few times.

The background characters were also great - you’re able to get their personalities as well without it clashing with the MCs. Also the twist at the end! I didn’t see that coming at all!! I was really wondering how this was all gonna wrap up cause I thought someone it but didn’t piece it all together till the end.

I really enjoyed reading Broken Pieces. The story follows the narrative of Damian and Aria. Aria is an art museum curator who wishes to be an artist, rather than working with other artists' works. Damian is a self-made Billionaire who hires Aria to run his Art Gallery. Can they both fight their inner demons, and the anxiety their parents have put on them both and realize they're better together, can help one another? I recommend reading and finding out!

What I loved about Broken Pieces was the mental health aspect. Aria specifically deals with panic attacks from anxiety and the emotional abuse her mother put on her as a child and teenager. It's very realistic for many people and I think a good connection that readers will have with this story. The way Yinn wrote the anxiety, was real for me.

Damian also suffers from the pressures his father placed on him. Making him feel like he'd never be good enough and trying hard to prove him wrong. Again, so many people can relate to this feeling. It's breaking generational traumas and I'm here for it!

I'm also here for the spice too ;)

Thank you @authoryinnquiros for the arc Broken Pieces.

Damian is a strong headed billionaire businessman who has a hard time with emotions because of how he grew up. But then strong willed red headed Aria comes into his life and turns it upside down.

Aria who also comes from a difficult past where she never felt good enough according to her mother, but all she wants is to make a living with her true passion, which is art. When she has the opportunity to work for the billionaire Damian as his art curator, she has to decide if she can deal with his ego and almighty personality to live her dream.

They end up realizing that they have more in common then they thought

“I kiss her like she is my only source of air, and I am running out of time because that’s exactly how I feel every time I’m around her. She is my weakness, my lifeline, my anchor, all in one”

“ I’ve been meaning to ask, what does Tesoro mean? He smirks licking his lip before replying “treasure” oh, I’m so, so f***ing screwed

This book has so much emotion in these characters, and them dealing with anxiety and panic attacks truly felt real. The way they are there for each other is heartwarming and I love when the grumpy, mean MMC is actually a softy and just misunderstood. 🫠🥰
These are some of my new favorite characters!!🥰

“There’s a fire in you that I never want to see put out by anyone. You deserve this. You deserve the whole f***ing world. So let me give it to you.”

✨Billionaire Romance
✨Workplace Romance
✨Age Gap (10 years)
✨Forced Proximity
✨He Falls First

I am officially OBSESSED with this book. I ate this right up and could not put it down. This story was truly incredible and I loved every minute of it. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is, hands down, the best banter I’ve read between two main characters.

“She slipped through the cracks of my heart, and once I noticed, it was simply too late. Doesn’t matter how high up those walls were, she tumbled them down one by one.”

Damian is your typical self-made billionaire grump who owns and runs tons of businesses and doesn’t take no for an answer. He’s also very protective of those he loves. Aria is a strong woman who works hard and fights for what she wants. What she doesn’t want is to work for Damian, but he is PERSISTENT. When she finally caves, things started heating up and the story just kept on getting better and better.

“She, with her fiery self, somehow infiltrated my life and has become the light that deep down I wished for, but never thought I could find.”

I will say, not only was the romance fun to read, but so was the overall plot. There were some scenes that were a little suspenseful and just sucked you right in. They were completely unexpected, which made the story even better and I loved it. There was one particular scene that had me yelling “GO ARIA!” because she’s truly a badass.
Another aspect I loved about this book is the real-life instances. This book talks a lot about mental health and how it can affect not only an individual person, but the people around them. Learning how to love when you’ve never felt love before is a hard concept. Damian and Aria broke down each other’s walls in the most beautiful way and helped each other feel so loved and cherished. The amount of support they show each other made my heart melt so many times—everyone deserves a Damian in their lives.

“With his commanding presence and gentle touch, he saved me from the dark parts of myself. And it’s a relief, because if I had to choose someone to take me out of the shadows; to bring me into the light—I want it to be him. Always him.”

In conclusion, do yourselves a favor and read this book. It’s a beautiful story about two people learning how to love one another, who fight for each other, and discover their true selves in the process. The writing was easy to read, it sucks you right in, and leaves you wanting more. I’m already obsessed with these characters and can’t wait to see what else Yinn Quiros has in store.

Huge shoutout and thank you to Yinn Quiros for the eARC of this incredible masterpiece. ❤️

What to expect when reading Broken Pieces;
-Age gap
-He falls First
-Workplace romance
-Dual POV
-Banter

Aria loves all things art. Damian thinks she’ll be a great addition to his gallery. Hard pass for Aria though, she knows he’s arrogant, ruthless and would never work for someone like him. He finally convinces her, and at first things are rocky with all the banter you can think of. Along the way the banter turns to flirting, the flirting turns to lines blurring. Arias character is everything, I literally loved her from page one! The character dynamic between the two was off the charts! I just couldn’t get enough of them! Like I need multiple bonus chapters for these two! I don’t want their story to end!

This storyline was definitely not what I expected from the beginning but wow! At the end I was like yesssss! (Don’t want to say much without giving anything away) but you are in for a treat🙌

Fav Line: “Darling” & “flat-out call me a dick makes me strangely attracted to her”

Make sure you get the book when it releases on July 26th❤️🖤

Ça m'a vraiment trop perturbé.

I love a billionaire romance and this did not disappoint. Broken Pieces follows art curator Aria Petrov and ruthless, grumpy billionaire Damien Romano. After much convincing on Damien’s part, they work together to expand his gallery but struggle to resist the attraction they have for one another. With close proximity, lines are blurred and they learn they have a lot in common.

I’m enamored with how Aria and Damien came together, fell in love, and healed from the emotional damage from their parents. All their inner conflicts and insecurities felt so relatable: not feeling worthy, wanting to follow your dreams, and if you have mommy and/or daddy issues, you’re in luck, cause these leads have one each. The inner dialogue and arguments with themselves are hilarious, I found myself cracking up multiple times throughout. This book had a little bit of everything that I enjoyed: tension, hilarity, found family (I adored Aria and her trio), spice (“We taste so good together, don’t we, darling?” I mean… 🥵), mystery, emotional healing, oh and nicknames!! Yinn had hinted at nicknames and SHE DELIVERED. 👏🏼👏🏼

Read if you like…
🍝 Billionaire romance
🎨 Forced proximity
🍝 Witty banter
🎨 Dual POV
🍝 He falls first

🍝 Touch her and 💀

Unfortunately, this was a DNF story for me. I truly appreciate the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this, however, there was no way I could finish it. The internal dialogue felt very repetitive, there was a great deal of grammatical errors (glaring and disruptive to the story), and the overuse of certain words had me struggling to get into the characters and story.

Thank you to Yinn Quiros for giving me the opportunity to be an arc reader for this new release & providing me with this reader copy of Broken Pieces in exchange for an honest review! 🤍

I jumped at the chance to read & review this copy because I can’t help myself with it comes to sexy, grumpy billionaires who’d stop at nothing to have their girl.

I adore aria, and i want to be her. she’s so driven, so fiery and I absolutely loved the fact that she’s an amazing artist & art curator - I feel like I don’t get to read a lot of romances or books in general very often where one of the main characters works in this art field, and as someone who also got their degree in this field i feel SO SEEN and its so refreshing to read about a leading woman like this! I also really loved the the mental health / anxiety representation when it came to Aria, and well as how Aria and Damian were able to find solace in one another & understand each other in regards to their mental health, and self worth with their upbringings. Damian was always SO patient with Aria when she was having her low moments and i adored Damian for being that one person who knew what to do to help her, and genuinely cared for her.

Also can we talk about this tension between them???? the fact that it’s workplace romance and she works for him and basically they’re forbidden to be interested in one another but struggled the whole time to fight their feelings???? I ATE IT UP! they’re just so good and hot together, i love them and their witty banter.

I won’t ramble much more since I don’t want to give anything away before Broken Pieces’ release, but I can’t wait for the next book!!! and also i’m the president of the alex brown hate club now.

What to expect in Broken Pieces:
💋 workplace romance

💋 tensionnnnn
💋 she’s an art curator / works in the gallery he owns
💋 the wittiest banter
💋 nicknames

"She's my present, and my future. I see no one else, but her. Like a glowing star that infiltrated my heart, brightening my life."

I absolutely loved this book! Thank you to the author for having me on her ARC team, it has been an amazing experience so far!

Now, I ate this story up. Billionaire, age gap, banter, workplace romance? Give it to me! It was very interesting and the plot had me immersed almost immediately. The characters were both super fun and I loved the banter (loved might be an understatement).

I like reading books from authors who dare to take on characters with a difficult past and trauma. At first, you don't know how they'll handle it, but Yinn Quiros did it perfectly! They understood each other and were able to support each other in a way that no one has ever done for them, so sweet. I honestly can't believe it's her first book, because it's so well written. Can't wait for the next books in this series!

ೃ༄ Aria was such a lovely FMC. She always stands up for herself against Damian, but she's also very insecure about a lot of things. Her personality is cute! We see her progress in the story which is so cute. I love the way she loves Damian and I was so happy to read that he had gotten her back into painting.

ೃ༄ Damian was a well written MMC. I loved him from the beginning, and when he started opening up, you realized he has been through a lot! What I loved was that he wasn't written as this tough guy who never shows emotions. Such a refreshing change! Also quite a funny guy, especially as he couldn't take no for an answer so he just shows up at her favorite coffee shop for weeks?! He literally worships the ground she walks on.

Omg!! I loved this book🥹💖

It was a heartbreaking but beautiful story of two characters who learn to believe in themselves and love each other.

Aria is a senior art curator who is secretly an artist but doesn’t believe that she is good enough. She is insecure about herself because of her mother who has constantly been passing sneer comments and belittling her since she was a kid.

Damian is a self-made billionaire and everyone thinks he is an arrogant and ruthless rich dude who has no emotions. But that is because he doesn’t want anyone to see the real him. His dad always said he was too weak and compassionate to make it in the real world and so, he keeps that part of himself hidden from the world.

Damian hires Aria to update his gallery business that he has inherited from his father. The forced proximity slowly blurs the professional boundaries as they let their walls come down for each other. They made each other feel worthy and loved and I really enjoyed the MCs character development.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Some scenes had me laughing and giggling, whereas some scenes made my heart break. The banter between them was hilarious and the spice was hot🥵

The suspense and the plot twist made this book so much better. Also, Aria’s girl gang, Isabelle and Sophie were phenomenal. I’m looking forward to reading more about them in the next book of the Windy City Billionaires series.

If you like the King of Sin series by Ana Huang or Dreamland Billionaire by Lauren Asher, then you will enjoy this book.

Thank you so much Yinn Quiros for this arc copy🫶

Aria Petrov is an art curator in Chicago, and she's made quite the name for herself. She's caught the eye of billionaire, Damian Romano. He knows she will be just what his art gallery needs to push his business to the next level.

Self made billionaire business man, Damian Romano knows what he wants and does whatever he needs to get it, too bad his arrogance is going to get in the way of obtaining exactly that.

Both are more alike than what they realize though. Aria is fighting the difficulties of her past, specifically her mother, who has instilled in Aria's mind that she is not good enough. Damian is in battle with his late father's words to him as well: "you're too weak to be good enough", making himself look arrogant and ruthless in the eyes of others.

These characters were made for each other. Fitting all of their broken pieces together to make the most beautiful work of art. Damian truly loves every part of Aria and has a way of pulling her out of the darkness, and Aria wants nothing more than to bring down his walls he's built around his heart, but they're also battling one more problem. An art thief breaking into art galleries and stealing high valued pieces.

The plot twist in this book 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The character development 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Damian is a hot headed billionaire who owns the Romano Art Gallery, and Aria is a fiery red head who clawed her way up the industry. their love story HAD ME ON MY KNEES. i laughed, i cried, i giggled, i sobbed, i texted yinn CONSTANTLY. aria and damian’s banter was SOOOO GOOD. i seriously would find myself giggling all the time. and the dirty talk….DAMIAN’S DIRTY TALK 🤭🤭🤭🤭these characters had so much life and so much well, CHARACTER. enzo and sophia and isa and matteo all mean so much to me as well. i cannot wait to keep reading this series and get my completed copy. thank you for not being afraid to talk about anxiety and portray characters who struggled as well. this book felt so raw and real, one of my favorite debuts.

Wow!! First things first: Thank you Yinn Quiros for letting me read the ARC of your debut book!

From the moment the teaser chapters were released, I have been beyond excited to read this story.

Damian and Aria are perhaps two of the most relatable and human characters I’ve read in a romance novel. Their internal struggles were so authentic, and their communication about the figures in their lives who hurt them was so moving.

I loved the anxiety representation in this book and the nonjudgmental way in which the characters handled it.

Reading about these two sorting through their feelings about themselves and each other was a TREAT. The internal dialogue was top notch and had me giggling and kicking my feet. Their banter was absolutely unmatched, and I genuinely loved watching these two characters grow together into better people.

All in all, I loved this book, and I am on the edge of my seat for Yinn Quiros’ other upcoming work!!

This book had some truly spectacular quotes, but this one has to be my favorite:

“This is a moment I want to burn into my memory, preserve it like a precious piece of gold. No amount of money or success can compare to what making her happy feels like.”

I devoured this book! I had the opportunity of listening to the ALC of Broken Pieces, which is narrated by Mollie Stark and Gabriel Spires in dual narration. There is something special about dual narrations when the FMC is able to mimic the MMC's voice (and vice versa)! It makes the whole narration so much fun and playful and brings so much more personality to the characters. I think Mollie and Gabriel did an amazing job with this story being SO perfect for Aria and Damien.

I had previously read Broken Deal by Yinn and had glimpses of them, so I was super excited for this opportunity, and this story did not disappoint. These two characters are the definition of soulmates and "I needed you to be healed"! It had so much yearning, banter, and angst, and the SPICE!? I blushed way too hard.

What to expect:
🎨 Age Gap (10 years)
🎨 Workplace Romance
🎨 Hurt/Comfort
🎨 Billionaire Romance
🎨 Forced Proximity
🎨 He Falls First
🎨 So much banter!!!!

Again, thank you so much Yinn for the ALC of Broken Pieces! It is out in Audible on Oct 14!

First off this has been the best romance I’ve read so far in 2024 ! My rating speaks for itself I’ve never gave anyone 6/5 before. This book has helped me keep my mind sane during a tough break up keeping my feelings for love alive still. Aria being a strong female main character going after what she loves doing what she loves and always sticking up for herself is my favorite thing about her ! Damian being such a closed off person yet so humanizing is so captivating I absolutely love him, I love how protective of her he is and how he realizes he’s falling in love with her but also tries to keep the boundaries unless she says otherwise. He’s not the type of billionaire you typically read about which I’m glad for a change of pace, it’s a slow burn but insta love at the same time ! But the TENSION is there it is giving everything any romance reader would want. And the side characters I’m obsessed with them so much I can’t wait to see their stories Enzo and Matteo (chefs kiss) ! Again just super loved this book Aria and Damian has my whole heart ! We’ll see how loyal I am when the next book comes out lol

Aria and Damian come from vastly different circumstances, and yet have much more in common than they realize. The book opens with Aria interviewing at Damian's art gallery for a position. His arrogant attitude causes her to turn down the position, but Damian won't take no for an answer.

I absolutely loved every minute of reading this! The slow build up of their relationship, the friendship they develop, and how they support each other is great. Their banter was fantastic and so funny.

I also loved the cast of supporting characters, including Sophia, who was a great best friend. The twist still left me surprised, and I definitely appreciated the groveling at the end.

I recommend this if you like healing emotional stories, with slow burns, and the ultimate book boyfriend!

I loved Aria’s character and how ultimately she was able to find the courage to overcome the obstacles and able to move forward despite the hardships she was dealt with. Aria is an artist who randomly was selected to have an interview with the broodiest billionaire, Damien.

Damien’s character is very materialistic at times. He’s demanding, insensitive, has the personality of “I’m a billionaire” and lastly has a very delicate side to him that only a select few get to see. It’s no secret he finds Aria attractive, but it only gets better…she makes him WOOOORRRKK for it🤭

I cant stand Aria’s mom at all, she’s the epitome of a narcissist and absolutely got what she deserved.

The storyline was cute, the retribution was sweet 😈, and Man I did not see the role reversal happening between the two main characters. Such a cute read.

Tropes:
-age gap
-artists
-he falls first
-slow burn
-touch her and die
-jealousssssss
-billionaire romance
-banter 🫡
-forced proximity
-workplace romance

I received this book as an ARC and these are my thoughts:

This was the author’s debut and a good start to her billionaire romance series. I enjoyed the plot quite a lot until about 60% and then I started loosing interest.

I felt I kept picking up on grammar errors that should have been picked up either by an editor, or even by beta readers. I don’t usually deduct in my ratings when I’m faced with typos - those happen and I as an ARC reader I know to expect there might be some. But being faced with, for example, the wrong prepositions on several occasions was a little too much for me.

Having said this, I did enjoy the story and the characters and the writing style made for an easy read. I see potential in coming books, but more care needs to be taken with editing.

Broken pieces was a good slow burn romance I absolutely loved the book. Especially the main characters they both are struggling with their past Aria with her mother making her feel she’s not good enough and Damian with his father viewing him as weak.
I loved how they were both protective of each other and helping each other with their past. I loved the banter they had especially when Damian was trying to get Aria attention. The plot twist towards the end I didn’t see that coming.
I liked how Aria gained more confidence and stood up to her mother. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

I was kindly provided with this book (censorship is BS and I hate it but here we are!)

A long awaited ARC graces my inbox!

The plot - This is a workplace, grumpy X sunshine, billionaire romance. All surrounding the art world. Smut was 3/5 on the spice scale, standard for contemporary romance. It’s also a HEA in a future series of interconnected atandalones.
I’ll be honest, I loved the promo for this book, hence applying for the ARC, but somehow missed the HEAVY focus on art. So I was ready to yawn my way to 40% and DNF it. BUT IT WAS SO GOOD? The art talk (the mutual interest) plus the sizzling sweet chemistry (unequivocal) equals an engaging story that had me giggling and kicking my feet in joy.

The MC - Aria is our fiery FMC. She’s a lil contradictory but aren’t all contemporary FMC’s? I feel like it adds to the intrigue of the story, because we never know which side of her we’ll get each chapter!

The male counterpart - Damien.. PLEASE, authors, WRITE MORE SENSITIVE MEN. Why was it so hot? Like yes, he is damaged. And I will not diminish that, but reading about a man with a sensitive side just does something to me..

"You invade all of my thoughts every waking moment. Your presence is everywhere. It's suffocating."

When I tell you it was very easy to read and fall in love with the characters, it was easy as breathing. I absolutely loved Aria and everything about her character. There were plenty of moments where I related to her in ways that I've felt like I have healed with her. Damian, while I may have called him an idiot a few times, I absolutely love how protective he was of Aria. I loved the chemistry and banter between the two and I absolutely just needed to know their whole story. I loved the twist and the details that came with it.

Overall I really enjoyed Broken Pieces and I cannot wait to read the next one from Yinn.
