John Coppinger was born 13th July 1947 in Kent, England. He went to Maidstone College of Art and later to St. Martins School of Art in London.
His fascination with both science and art won him a post as a Scientific Model Maker for the Natural History Museum, London. Some of his models are still on display in the Museum today.
In 1980 he left the Museum to work on Jim Henson’s film “The Dark Crystal".
Then on Star Wars “Return of the Jedi” he was hired by renowned make-up artist Stuart Freeborn, sculpted Jabba the Hutt, worked with the build team and operated Jabba’s eyes, via radio control, on the film set.
In November 2005 John finished and published his first Science-Fiction Novel ‘Tertiary’.
