In the not-so-distant future, Earth crumbles beneath the relentless battles from both angelic and demonic forces as they clash together in what is only known as “the holy war.” Once the dust settles, Earth is nothing but a shell of its former self and humankind has to struggle to rise from the ashes. Unfortunately, the dystopian world is made even more inhabitable by the fact that demons rule over them and keep them in the dark.
Years after the war has ended, Darachiel, a once proud angel, finds himself waking up in the ruins of a broken city. Injured, lost, alone, and mortal, he is soon found by a man named Julian who takes him home. Although there is a lot for Darachiel to learn, his blossoming relationship with Julian helps to keep him grounded even as he daydreams of once again reuniting with his family.
Yet, is the intimate relationship between the angel and human more trouble than it's worth? Despite magical moments, there are plenty of tense moments shared between the angel and human as well as they struggle to survive while remaining together. When trouble comes their way because of Darachiel being who and what he is, can their love ultimately survive as well?

Darachiel frowned, lowering his head a little as his thoughts swirled. However, he soon had to raise his head again as Julian's fingers brushed beneath his chin. Oh, just the touch alone made Darachiel's hairs pleasantly stand on end.
“Do you want to explore a little?” Julian offered with a kind smile. “I don't think getting to know each other a little better will hurt. If for nothing else, it'd at least pass the time this rainy day.”
Darachiel felt like he was short circuiting a little with the rush of emotions surging through his body. “I... Julian... You make me...”
“It's okay,” Julian gently insisted, his fingers still on the other's chin. “It's okay to feel what you're feeling. I don't know what you do as angels, but this is okay to do as humans.”
Darachiel just swallowed and nodded his head, feeling heat spread slowly through his body. “W-We do things a bit differently, but I've been around long enough to know what you humans do, too. It looks rather messy, but... entertaining...”
Julian laughed out lightly at the phrasing. “Yes, well, I guess sex is certainly entertaining enough, but we certainly don't have to go there today. We can start things nice and slow, if you want. I don't want you to feel forced or afraid. Being with someone else like this, allowing them this close, is about trust.”
Darachiel modded his head, searching the other's eyes. “Then can we try some kissing?”
“Of course,” Julian agreed easily as he brought his hand around to cup the other's cheek. While Julian's face was somewhat scruffy, Darachiel's skin was nice and smooth to the touch. After just a few moments of gazing into each other's eyes and steeling themselves, Julian leaned in to tenderly press his lips along the angel's.

Overall I did enjoy this series - I would have liked a little more world building it's like you are thrown into the middle of a series. It starts off after the Angels lose the war to the Demons, but there isn't any back story on that. I would have liked to find out more on how that all went down & why. I did love that Julian & Dara didn't just jump into bed but took it slowly & once they did come together it was sweet. I enjoyed seeing them all band together and take down the "bad" guy. I would like to see more; what happens now, where do their travels take them and what do they see, etc.
