Can an artisan builder with a haunted past learn to break down her own walls?

Orla Clarke is a master builder with a secret—she can see ghosts. Tasked with building Common Gin’s newest distillery in Loren Brae, Orla faces more than just architectural challenges. Haunted by her past as an orphan and the spirits that have followed her since childhood, Orla’s talent for building walls extends to her heart. She’s brilliant at solving problems on the construction site, but when it comes to matters of love, she’s always kept her distance.

Enter Finlay Thompson, the charming and driven director of the distillery project. Determined to breathe new life into the old stone building, Finlay is equally passionate about gin as he is about profits. Betrayed by family, and untrusting of relationships, he can’t help but be entranced by the pint-sized powerhouse overseeing the build-out of the distillery. With mysterious things happening around Loren Brae, the more Finlay puts himself in Orla’s path, the more he is drawn to the quiet builder with luminous eyes.

As spirits bring secrets to light, Orla and Finlay must confront their deepest fears. Can they build a future together, or will their haunted pasts keep them apart forever?

Wild Irish Fortune by Tricia O’Malley
The Enchanted Highlands series #6. Paranormal Scottish romance. Alternating POV. Can be read as a stand-alone but best read in series order as The Order expands.
Orla Clarke is a master builder working on the newest distillery in Loren Brea. She also sees ghosts and that’s why she’s been called to the town. Having grown up in an orphanage, she has learned to rely only on herself. The ghosts may be plentiful but they always want something and she can’t always help.
Finlay Thompson is the director of the distillery project. He loves the old stone building and believes it’s the perfect place for making the gin. Betrayed by family and past relationships, he’s not interested in any new relationships. But with strange things happening around the town of Loren Brae and Orla somehow in the middle of it, he’s intrigued with her and can’t help getting closer.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook narrated by Amy Landon and Will Watt who have done the full series. An excellent performance with specific voices, accents and clear emotions from each in their chapters. Unlike the prior books with mixed country accents, this book’s main characters are relatively local, so the full audio is in a Scottish accent which had me slowing my usual listening rate of 1.5 down a bit to 1.3 to better follow the story. That’s definitely not how I would have heard it in my head if reading an ebook which makes the audiobook all that more enjoyable. The accents, the joy of hearing them falling in love, the humor of the ghost coo and a thousand other small details, makes this audiobook pure happiness to listen to.

The Order of Caledonia strikes again, pulling in another magical guardian. Lots of humor and unlikely events, but it’s ghosts and romance in Scotland, so why not? The ghost coo is hilarious as usual even if he’s making a pest of himself. And it’s the ghosts that start off this romance so while it can be too much for Orla, she’ll have Finlay to help as well as the rest of the friendships of the Order.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Love this series even though it’s a lot outrageous in a romancy way.

In my review of Wild Scottish Beauty, I said "simply, these books make me happy."

That hasn't changed.

Wild Scottish Fortune was yet another wonderful escape to Loren Brae and the magickal world building continued. Orla is the owner of Clarke Construction, the company tasked with building Munroe's new distillery for Common Gin. After a tough childhood, she's made her own way and has built walls around her heart, convinced everyone leaves. Finlay is in charge of the project, and after being betrayed by family, he has a hard time trusting others. Finlay is posh, Orla barely owns four pairs of shoes. She sees ghosts and he sees her, the real Orla who she tries to keep to herself.

"Never are you more beautiful than when you're in your element, building incredible things, with the creative light shining in your eyes. That, to me, is when you're luminous."

The pair are opposites, but as with all of Tricia O'Malley's characters, they just belong together. Finlay saw Orla's hesitations and didn't push her. Despite her tough exterior, she was tenderhearted and he saw that, while she gave him the push to make necessary changes in his life.

I loved the ladies all hanging out together and I will never get tired of Clyde's antics. It still amazes me how Tricia is able to weave all of these stories and characters together, bringing all of our favorite people into a new story in organic and meaningful ways. I did miss Lachlan's grumpy self but was glad to see a little more of Shona this go around. Each addition to the Order is someone I want to be friends with in real life, and I love seeing how they support each other as they come into their own.

And I still cannot wait to see Agnes and Graham have their moment.

Each trip to Loren Brae is magical. I laugh, I worry, I squeal with happiness. Each book leaves me wanting more and eagerly awaiting the next time I get to visit my friends in Scotland. The Enchanted Highlands series continues to delight, book after book, and Wild Scottish Fortune is a marvelous addition that you don't want to miss out on.

Orla Clarke has never been able to stay in one place for long. An orphan who had a rocky start to life, she finds it hard to make a home in any one place. For now, she’s working at MacAlpine Castle on a job to build out the newest distillery of the Monroe Craig of Common Gin. Finlay Thompson put his foot in his mouth when he first met Orla, thinking that she’s the cleaner on a construction site instead of the head builder and construction manager. He’s the chief Operations Officer of the distillery, and clearly gets off the wrong foot with Orla.

Despite getting off to a rocky start, sparks start to fly between Orla and Finlay due to their forced proximity during construction and both living in a small town in Scotland. Fin falls fast and hard for Orla, but Orla tempers her feelings due to some secrets she’s been keeping. Will Orla be able to let down her guard and let someone get close to her? Or will her constant distance & secrets cause her to lose Fin forever?

I had no idea what I was getting into in this story but I was so glad I had the opportunity to read this book! A close friend mentioned how much she loved the previous two books and could not recommend them more. I was so pleasantly surprised at how cozy and warm this story was, focused on an FMC who I was rooted for the whole time, especially surrounding her relationship with our MMC! The magical realism notes of the story were so beautiful and served the story perfectly. This story was like a warm hug, and the romance left a cheeky grin on my face and warmth in my heart.

I recommend this book for readers who love a cozy story full of magic, swoony & determined men, and lessons in self-love.

Tropes in this story:
✨He’s steadfast & determined; she’s flighty and unsure
✨Found family
✨Cozy story with minimal conflict
✨Magical realism
✨Witches, ghosts and Scottish folklore
✨Secret society of witches
✨Men in kilts!

I received an Advanced Reading Copy of this book via Tricia O’Malley, but my review is all my own. Thank you, Tricia!

Thank you to the author for providing this advanced reader copy. These thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a 3.75 star book for me. I loved the found family and Orla’s journey to finding herself and belonging. The hilarious side characters were also really giving. My main beef is with our main male character Finley AKA Fin. There’s a scene in this book where Orla gets a head injury. It ends up being minor but because he’s mad at her for keeping a secret, he just up and leaves. Like no dude, her head was bleeding. I would break up with you. That part of the story was weirdly juxtaposed with the rest of their sweet romance. It gave me the confusion. Other than that, it had super sweet witchy sisterhood vibes and is lovely for a cozy fall read.

Refreshing and Beautiful

Tropes to Expect:
Scottish Cottage Core
Grumpy/Sunshine
Opposites Attract
Boss/Employee
Forced Proximity
Magical/Paranormal
A fish named Goldie
Ghosts! & Other Magical Beings

This is a really cozy magical read. I loved all the Scottish vibes. This was actually my first read of this series but I really liked it. All the various kinds of witches were so fun and interesting. I really loved the writing style because you felt like you were there in this peaceful and magical town.

I loved Orla. She was relatable to me, in a sense. I also have a hard time asking or receiving help. She was kind of a loner and kept to herself because she has been through some things. She’s a little awkward. She’s not bitter though. She was brilliant and resilient in the best way. I also loved how she interacted with ‘ghosts’. How amazing would it be to have a guiding spirit like The Green Lady?

“𝚆𝚒𝚝𝚌𝚑 𝚒𝚜 𝚊 𝚙𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚞𝚕 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚍. 𝙰 𝚋𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎. 𝙰 𝚌𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚜. 𝚈𝚘𝚞’𝚛𝚎 𝚕𝚞𝚌𝚔𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚊 𝚌𝚑𝚘𝚒𝚌𝚎 𝚒𝚗 𝚠𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝚠𝚊𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚙𝚊𝚝𝚑 𝚞𝚗𝚏𝚘𝚕𝚍𝚜 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚜𝚎 𝚍𝚊𝚢𝚜.”𝙵𝚘𝚛 𝚊 𝚠𝚘𝚖𝚊𝚗 𝚠𝚑𝚘’𝚍 𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚗 𝚗𝚘 𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚜, 𝙸 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚞𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚘𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙸 𝚑𝚊𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚐𝚛𝚘𝚠 𝚖𝚢 𝚘𝚠𝚗.

Finlay was so cute. Loren Brae was the perfect place for him. I loved how sincere and sweet he was with Orla. He was perfect.

‘𝙸 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚞𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚕𝚢 𝚋𝚎𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚌𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐.’

‘𝙻𝚎𝚝 𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝚢𝚘𝚞.’ 🥹

I enjoyed this book a lot and would love to read the previous books. I can’t wait to see what happens with Agnes as well! Allen the characters (and animals) were incredibly charming. I loved every last one of them.

Highly recommend if you love a cozy feel good book. This book is magical with paranormal aspects but also in the writing style. It was like a breath of fresh air for me. Thank you.

Super cute! A house witch… love it! A cozy, sweet read, and another lovely Tricia O’Malley book. Both main characters were fun and quirky. I loved how they worked through their toxic family issues from the past.

This being the 7th book in this series, I will say, I am ready for things to wrap up. We’ve got a holiday read, and then one more book coming in the spring, but I’m ready for the overarching story about the kelpies to be solved.

My favorite yet

I've really enjoyed this whole series so far. This has been my favorite though , it's fun, light hearted, spicy but also deals with real issues. I resonated with Orla and her insecurities and Finlay was so kind and really took time to understand her.
This is ideal if you love

Found family
Magical realism
Mild fantasy
Semi fake dating
Sisterhood

TW: child neglect , witch trials , mild threat to life.

Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select and Tricia O’Malley for an ARC of Wild Scottish Fortune. The Enchanted Highlands series continues to delight! This light and cozy fantasy romance series is so bingeable and fun to read. Amy Landon and Will Watt really bring Orla and Finlay to life with their narration, and I was thrilled to hear their Scottish accents stay true to the story.

Orla Clarke, a master builder who is working on a new project for Common Gin, has a hidden power (though it doesn't stay hidden for long) - she can see & interact with ghosts. Her talents draw her into the shenanigans and the inner circle of the Order of Caledonia, as well as the arms of Finlay Thompson.

I've loved continuing to see the full cast of characters from the past books as the circle grows and the Order adds new members to their ranks. Orla and Finlay are another great addition!

I was so excited to read book 6 of The Enchanted Highlands series (Wild Scottish Fortune) by Tricia O'Malley that I signed up for an ARC copy despite ordering a copy in presale. With each book, we meet a new member of the Order of Caledonia overcoming internal struggles and stepping into their individual power (err magick) against a backdrop of hot Highlanders and the mystical beauty that is Scotland.
Meeting Oral Clarke in Wild Scottish Fortune did not disappoint. Ms. O'Malley took great care in writing a character with such depth - respectfully depicting how an adult with a hard childhood would act in making new relationships. This story was about many themes but I focused on learning to trust yourself, trust others and trust that love never fades. Ms. O'Malley's artful use of dialogue really pushes the characters together and moves the plot along. My only criticism is that I wanted to see more flaws and character growth from Finlay but I admired his persistence, gentleness and protectiveness of Orla.
I gave this book five stars because this book touched my heart. I found myself ugly crying in the dark (finishing said book) because I felt the love between Orla and her closest friend; the connection was real to me as the reader. The ending was incredibly satisfying with always the perfect amount of spice.

This book is lighthearted and cute- just like the rest of the series. These are fun and unique in their own way, though this one may have been my favorite so far. Plus, the ghost coo which makes me laugh and I just love it so much. The audiobook version has great accents too!

Another great book! This series is so cozy and magical. A perfect fast read to snuggle up with!

I adored Orla. She comes from a hard background and keeps everyone at arms length. Once she realizes that she can start trusting and open up she blooms. Finley is just the sweetest, doing everything to gain Orla's trust and protect her. We can't forget about the trusty familiars either. I loved that Orla had a ghost.

An absolute gem! Thank you Tricia for the arc.

Apparently this is part of a series, but can definitely be read alone!

Meet Orla Clarke. She’s an orphan. She’s a builder (Pint sized, but very good at what she does!) … and, she doesn’t take ‘shite’ from anyone!! 🤣
She also harbors some secrets…I guess you can say they’re dark. 🫣😬
She’s forming new friendships as we go, but really has no family…except of course for Goldie! 😊

Meet Finlay Thompson. He’s managing the rebuild of the buildout of the distillery that Orla is in charge of. He’s handsome, rugged, and as far as Orla can see, very ‘privileged’. You can clearly see he comes from money, and dresses inappropriately for their meetings on the construction site.
And their first meeting? One for the books!!

So when these two meet, well… fire and ice!

Loved ALL of the characters and their interactions and play!
Loved the sweetness of this one…
Loved The Green Lady and Harris too!
Loved how the Magicks are interwoven throughout the story!!
And, loved the wrap up!!

4 bright beautiful ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!

A confident and work-hardy builder, a new project along the beautiful highlands, a long-lost Order, a handsome but far too polished Scot butting into the new build who reminds Orla of all the unfairness she experienced during her childhood, and terrifying kelpies.
Wild Scottish Fortune is a fun read that combines drama, romance and comic relief for those who like it sprinkled with such excitement that calls forth a promising adventure. Tricia adds only more jitters to this series by feeding this adventurous side with Scottish mythological creatures and threats. The series follows the comfortable setting where you know what to expect each new book while getting something new every single time. A new creature, a good few ghosts to dispel this turn around. A new love story, where dreams and realistic ideals clash into culminating and all-consuming acceptance. New trials that test Orla's character. New powers. A new member to the Order of Caledonia.
The best ride you can ask for, while asking for little investment in return, The Enchanted Highlands over-achieve in melting my heart time and time again. And I can hardly wait for the next one!

Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select and Lovewrite Publishing for this ALC.

This is such a lovely read. This book is everything a cozy fantasy needs. I loved all the supernatural things weaved into the story, as well as the setting of this book. The main characters are just darling, and double POV worked really well for me here. One picked up right where the other left off. This book uncovers the topics of trust, finding and believing in oneself and letting others to care and love you as well. All those were beautifully executed. I thoroughly enjoyed the romance, the build-up was great as well. It was overall a very nice, quirky read.
The narrators Amy Landon and Will Watt did a very good job giving voices to the main characters.

It is the first book in this series that I read, but the books are not tightly coupled by the plot or characters it worked out just fine. Hope to pick up some others from this series as well some time soon.

I didn't realize how much I'd miss doing Tricia O'Malley's Wild Scottish Fortune as a standalone. I recommend starting with Wild Scottish Knight and going from there. I've read Wild Scottish Love, so thankfully I was still able to appreciate the magic and the fantasy O'Malley pours into this story.

The audio version of Wild Scottish Fortune is performed by Amy Landon and Will Watt.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am a fan of this series. I feel as though each book just gets better than the one before it.

Orla might just be my favourite of the characters from this series. She is strong and fierce, and I loved it. Her walls are so high I don't know if she even knows what it's like to take a deep breath. She has been building that wall for years so when Finlay comes into her life, she doesn't expect he would be the one to help her tear the wall down.

She opens herself up to the Order, she has a unique gift and has to accept herself before anyone else can accept her. But opening herself up to possible rejection keeps Orla from trusting in Finlay.

This book's performance from Will and Amy was outstanding. They become the characters and it's easy to forget everything around you but the story being told.

As with each couple of the Scottish Highlands Series…. I fell in love with their journey.
In this trip back to Loren Brae we find Orla and Finlay. She owns a construction company hired to build the newest Common Gin Distillery and He is the site manager, making sure things stays on track…… let’s just say he almost derails his chances right from their very first meeting. 😂
Their banter, his steadfastness, her new powers, found family and our ever present Clyde!
I have loved everything Tricia has written and this is no exception….. she has even thrown in an Easter egg or two, how fun it was to discover those!
Add Wild Scottish Fortune to your TBR, you won’t regret it, I promise!

I really enjoyed this book! If you’re looking for a book with romance but also a strong story and plot of the FMC then this is it. Orla had a tragic backstory that was very well developed and I felt connected the readers to her emotionally. In the first half this book, the romance is definitely a story burn, secondary plot. Instead, the first half of the book focused on Orla finding strength in her self, discovering where she belongs, and letting herself open up to her friends. The second half then dove into her relationship with Finaly which was so so sweet!

One of my favorites so far in the series. I love the village of Loren Brae, the cozy magickal vibes of the series, the sisterhood connections between members of the order — and how they all can use their talents and abilities to support each other.

This story felt like it had a bit more depth and emotional weight to it. There was a carefulness to the romance that wasn’t all “insta-love” forever from this moment. Less spice than the others, but again, more depth so it was balanced. And great personal development for both the FMC and MMC!

GUH. Despite the fact that O'Malley is teasing us MERCILESSLY about Graham and Agnes, who will obviously be the last book in the series), I really enjoyed this latest installment of the delightful Enchanted Highlands series. Amy Landon and Will Watt deliver a fantastic performance, as usual, and we have another very good boi to be added to the pack with Sir Buster and Lola. Two thumbs up.

Am enjoying these quick reads. This tale was the best of the series so far. And a bit emotional at times. While a lot remains predictable, a few twists were included.
