I thought we were in the clear and that the Trappers we'd killed were the worst of our problems. Mac was gone for good and I could put all the trauma in the past.
Maybe I spoke too soon.
As if having the infamous Jessa show up out of nowhere, causing Alex to spiral, wasn't a sh!tstorm in itself, my father's base received a distress call from a settlement in California that needs help. The guys tell me to let someone else handle it. I've been through enough this past year.
But I've never been good at doing what I'm told.
Eff my life.
This is the second and final installment in the Hell's Apocalypse Duet.
I spend 95% of my life huddled in my little office, at my little desk, vividly hallucinating about characters and scenarios that don't exist. Then I write it all down for you to enjoy!
This seriously put me though it. We've laughed, we've cried, we've been so absolutely filled with rage that the tops of our heads have almost popped off like tea kettles. And now I'm talking about myself as if I'm more than one person because this book has me so discombobulated. This was such a great story that had me hooked from the beginning of the first book to the last word of this one. I said this in my review of book one, but it needs repeating; Anubis is the GOODEST BOY EVER! And *×!& Jessa!
Heat level: 5/5. The continuation is even hotter than book 1! Threesome, group scenes, & FF scenes that actually got me flustered (not really my thing but then this book said hold my beer). The action was still faced paced but somehow also more intense. Jessa is seriously unhinged and she got what she deserved. Also more doggo. Though this is the finale, I want more. Such a great duet!
Overall, this was a decent read. Especially considering it was an apocalyptical read. Apocalyptic reverse harems seem to be few and far between so I usually jump at the chance to read one. This one also had FF with the second female only being interested in the main female, which is another thing that is difficult to find. The first book is really the good part. It was interesting and the world building was easy to follow while still being unique and interesting. I DO recommend reading this book, especially if you like a badass female and the apocalyptical setting.
However...
I feel like the second book was just unnecessary? Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the characters and the plot so I would have loved to read more about them... but the second book didn't really feel like it added ANYTHING to the story?
**Spoiler alert incoming**
To me, it felt like the second book was only written to give a resolution with the guy's ex... Which was not only unnecessary since it just made the book drag, but it was ultimately unsatisfying... By the time I got to the end of it I was just kind of like... "okay...?"
I felt like it could have been used to focus on furthering the relationships. Like.. Ret? She deserved better. She seemed like such an afterthought which was unfortunate since it's hard to find FF reverse harems.
Or just give us more of them making a home on her father's ranch... Instead we had some random confrontation that was already dealt with? And then it just... ended? I don't know. There was just so much of the second book that took away from the entire story because it was all so boring.

Firstly, big thanks to Penn Cassidy and her team for allowing me to read the ARC for this!!
🩵 Found Family 🩷 Why Choose 🩵 Hateful Ex 🩷 Fierce Loyalty 🩵 Zombie Action 🩷 Badass FMC 🩵 Super Loyal Good Boy Doggo
After reading Feral Skies in a day and being left dangling from a CLIFF at the end, I was desperate to read this book. I always worry with a second book, that it won't be as good as the first but I wasted my time worrying!
Jumping straight into the return of the "mega-b!tch ex" the book grabs you right from page one. Again, I found myself finishing this book in a day. The "why choose" relationship between Hell, Alex, Wyatt, Dante and Ret builds beautifully into a fiercely loyal, loving and trusting found family. With new side characters adding to Hell's background story.
Penn's writing style grips you and you're transported into apocalyptic chaos with a delicious side of stunningly written SPICE (Think "The Last of Us" TV series settings with BEAUTIFUL people) The action keeps you on the edge of your seat and I swear I could hear the groans and splatters as though I was there.
The story-line is strong and the spice fits well and flows with the entire book. The team are faced with so much s**t in their apocalyptic world that it only makes them stronger as a family. If you're fan of zombies, hot as HELL characters, spice, badass loyal 4 legged companions....and pink crossbows....this book is for you!
Found family, bound by love and trauma and shared purpose, but family none the less
When coming face to face with the woman who had hurt your men right as you have finally made it home what will happen next?
Alex struggles with Jessa's appearance the most for obvious reasons. He is forced to deal with the betrayal and realize how little she ever actually mattered to him.
When a sudden SOS comes through Helena and her crew are in a rush to save a small group that includes a tiny infant. Unfortunately because the traitorous woman is lactating the group will be forced to take her with them.
Will they be able to deal with the Jessa issues? She isn't happening that the men told her they moved on and she blames H3ll. As the tensions rise what will happen?
On their way to California they run into another kid needing help for him and his brother which forces them to detour through Vegas. The big cities were hit hard and are the most dangerous.
This book contains all the spicy stuff that we didn't get in book one. I am personally not a fan on FF so I skipped over those scenes but the duet was so good I didn't mind.
My favorite quote in this book "She seems to be oddly inept at taking lives, actually...like, storm trooper inept"
I read this book as a standalone and I didn’t feel like I missed out on any important information. I went into this book completely blind and I wouldn’t change it. I was pulled in from the very first chapter and found myself thinking about this story throughout the day. I have never read anything by Penn Cassidy until this story but she has gained a new fan from this book. Her writing is easy to read and get lost in.
If you love a strong MFC then this book is for you! She has a very complex and intense personality and the same can be said for her love life. Holy smokes, if your looking for some spicy parts to keep you interested then your in luck. I cannot decide who I like more in this book, once you read I think you will feel the same way! We are talking about zombies, romance, action and some drama!! I especially like that we weren't left with a cliff hanger and had closure. But this story was so interesting that I cannot wait for the next book to see what happens next.
So I liked this book but it felt repetitive in a sense. It was constantly Hell getting into some kind of chaos just like the first book. There were times sentences just repeated themselves and it started to feel like a waste of a paragraph or page.
For the story itself, they did a lot to save people and save a baby during this apocalypse. The bridge part had me ready to jump through the book and push Jessa over the bridge myself. The spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I feel like during the spicy scenes with the boys, Hell, and Ret, Ret was always getting left out. It was always just Ret touching Hell while the boys had their way with her and Ret not getting it in return.
Overall, if you’re looking for spicy romance, why choose, zombies, fighting, and rescue scenes during the apocalypse then you’ll like these books.
This is book 2 of 2. They must be read in order or won’t make any sense. They are enjoyable and pretty action packed. You will need to suspend your disbelief and the 2nd isn’t as well edited as the first so a few spacing and word oops happen. There are 3 male interests and 1 female. Our female lead feels like an afterthought from time to time when our heroine refers to her men so very often but leaves Ret out, unless she considers Ret a man but she states that she is fiercely female. When there are group activities there is no sword crossing but female Ret participates but seems to not get satisfaction? Over all a fun story with good dirty fun and a sassy heroine who is entertaining.
In this sequel to Feral Skies Penn Cassidy kicks everything up a notch. Helena and her team have finally made it home but they're hardly given a chance to rest when a distress signal comes in from a submarine in California. As if trying to cross the Nevada desert wasn't dangerous enough they'll have to drag along Jessa, who is the only can that can offer breast milk for the infant that's trapped in the sub.
But that snake has Alex's head all mixed up. And Hell's team needs to be at their best if they're going to survive the deadly Las Vegas strip. At least she's got Ret to comfort her this time.
The danger level is higher than ever, but so is the spice.
This was a fast paced and action packed duet. Short and straight to the point. I have been binging on zombie apocalypse/dystopian style movies and it wasn't long before I was looking for the genre to read. It is my first time reading a book from this author and she did not disappoint. Although, this was a duet, the pacing and world building was good. There were some typos on the last book but it didn't really take away from the book as much. The FMC is likeable but a bit self-sacrificing - she had a lot of near-deaths in the second book. Overall, I will be reading more from this author but this duet definitely scratched my zom-itch.

Honestly, i didn't want it to end . I wanted more shit to hit the fan . The twists and turns throughout the book will have you up through the night just to finish it .
revengeful/hateful ex ✔️ Steamy reverse harem ✔️ Life threats around every corner ✔️ Questionable morals ✔️ Overprotective brooding men ✔️ Found family ✔️ Badass fml✔️ & lastly, ferocious trustworthy beast✔️
This book gives Walking Dead Vibes with a truly bada$$ FMC. Was a lil scared this series wouldn’t be for me cause it was zombies and spent the last couple days binge reading the first and second book and yeah I’m definitely loving it. Those men, literally obsessed day one and there’s a constant show of growth and emotions for not just Hell but her men as well. The zombies I must admit with the way this was written felt like I was living every moment and hearing every sound. Love the overall plot and emotions the tension build ups in lows and highs. The spice was *chefs kiss* definitely a perfect spooky season read for sure.
I will be honest the zombie apocalypse stuff is not my favorite but this author is so I of course read it. And loved it! I like how the story flows and Hell is the most bad ass female I ever read about we all strive for that lmao the men are great too! Definitely worth the read
This book really turned up the dial on all levels. More zombies. More danger. More action. More spice and of course, higher stakes. I loved the tension that the ex being there added. I think that was the kind of angst that was missing in the first book. As was some more emotional development from the characters. I loved this book and the characters that live in it.
This one has me in a bind. As the sequel, I expected a wee bit more but this one disappointed me. The plot was good and the characters were great it just seemed like lazy writing. So many phrases were overused throughout the book and there were tons of grammatical errors. all in all good book but not great like the first one
I love Hell, her partners, her friends. Love a good apocalypse book with love and action. There were a few random mistakes that a good editor could correct but they didn't take away from the great story. Very much enjoyed reading about Hell and her entourage.
Read feral skies and immediately moved on to this one. These kept me riveted for two days! Great action, great plot ( though I would have killed Jessa the first time she tried some mess lol), and great smut!!
As always Penn delivers this story's fabulous I'm not usually a fan of post apocalypse but this story really drew me in I love our girl and hoenshe navigates to her happy ever after staying true to who she is! Amazing job!
If the first book was unrealistic the second one is going to make you question your sanity but that isn’t why I lowered the rating. To be honest, I felt bad for Ret, it looked like she was always a second thought. I don’t understand why Alex has so much precedence🙃
I was not sure when of ever this book was going to come out. It was a nice surprise to see it available. This really buttoned up Hell and her groups story and I am all for. I loved it!
It was a good conclusion to the duet. The timeliness gets a little confusing and some things just don't make a whole lot of sense realistically. Some of the lore from the first book doesn't fully carry over to this one. Overall I enjoyed it just wish it flowed a little more cohesively.
Wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read. The first one was better than this one tho. I feel like when you have more than 3 love interests one of them seems to be not as involved and kinda gets put on the back burner which is disappointing.
