Jarek is burned out on life. One summer night with a sweet soul changes everything.
While Luca is used to being considered odd, he’s embraced the title. He’s found happiness in the simpler things. It’s not like he has a choice. He’s dirt-poor living in an expensive town. Barely scraping by isn’t even enough to describe how dire his straits are. Then a chance meeting at the park turns his entire life on its head. He’s never been more terrified. This one will hurt when it’s over, and Luca already knows how it’ll end.
As a highly sought-after attorney, Jarek hasn’t taken a breath in years until one night he simply decides to stop. When he spots an adorable man playing with blocks in the middle of the park with zero shame, Jarek can’t stay away. He keeps searching for ways to convince Luca to see him. Jarek can’t even say exactly what he hopes to achieve, but he only has one summer to figure it out. After that, Luca will be gone forever. That’s not an outcome Jarek is sure he can handle.
Short-term Daddy is the first book in Charity Parkerson’s Little Lost series where adorable, sometimes bratty, and scared Littles meet the men of their dreams.

⭐️ 2/5 — I picked this up hoping for comfort, but it left me feeling like I needed to comfort myself instead 😭 🌶 1/5 — Barely there spice, nothing memorable 😮💨
My luck's been absolute shit lately when it comes to picking up books from new-to-me authors. 😅🥲 I was hoping to find a new favorite author, but sadly this wasn’t it. What I crave most in my romances are MCs who are obsessed, laser-focused, and absolutely down bad for each other. Instead, Jarek and Luca entered their relationship with one foot out the door—and the story never convinced me they were in love. 🫠
Both men are brand new to the DD/lb lifestyle, which could’ve been interesting, but it wasn’t explored in any real or satisfying way. Everything felt half-developed and shallow. 🫤
The lowest point for me was a line Jarek (the Daddy) said to Luca (the little boy): Quote: “Maybe you can act like the adult you are for one goddamn day.”
When a Daddy tells his little boy to act like an adult, that's not romance—it's betrayal. This book slapped me harder than any angst ever should. 😫💔☠️
I don’t care that this book setup was that both of the MCs were new to the dynamic—I’ve read plenty of Daddy/little books and never have I seen something so tone-deaf and cruel. It completely shattered the DD/lb foundation of safety and care. That one line alone made the whole book feel wrong, like a punch to the gut. 💔💔💔💔💔
It's just so wrong on so many levels. 😔

So stinking cute. I feel like it’s been way too long since I’ve read a daddy/little book. Luca was just so adorable. Jarek, while having his moments that made me angry, seemed to slip into his daddy skin perfectly.
This was a great start to a new series. Boone intrigues me so much so I’m glad his story is next.
I’m having trouble describing why I disliked this so much. It had a lot of the elements I like, but it felt like everything was so rushed and bland. Both characters kept saying how much they liked each other, but their interactions felt awkward and surface level and just generally uncomfortable. Also one of my biggest book pet peeves is when characters go through most of the relationship with one foot out the door. Like ‘This is going to end soon, but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.’ Booooooo. I don’t want to be constantly reminded that you’re not fully in this relationship when I’m trying to enjoy my fluffy love stories. Maybe this doesn’t deserve one star and I’m just grumpy that I had such high hopes and was so let down. I have no idea how all the reviews for this book are so good. Maybe I need to take a break from age play books (other than Cara Dee *obviously*). Maybe I just need to go to sleep. Idk. Ugh. Boo.
Charity Parkerson never writes a bad book. All her words are just so amazing and every book is fantastic.
Luca and Jarek were destined to be together and met that day. The way Jarek dove into being the best daddy Luca needed made me so happy. I loved this book and I can’t wait to read the rest as they come out.
A quick read since its a short story. Luca is the sweetest little that brightens Jarek's face and heart. How a little can put a smile on a grumpy criminal lawyer face.

This was a sweet story as a disillusioned lawyer had his eyes opened to the joy of caring for a little and all of the love it brought to his life. I loved the way that their relationship developed and that it built up slowly. A sweet love story that will make you smile. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.
‘Since he was odd, it was rare for anyone to be kind to him’ – Luca likes nice Jarek!
Popular author Charity Parkerson opens a new series of her highly rated and esteemed books with Little Lost Daddy, the initial volume being SHORT-TERM DADDY. The book may be short, but the impression is long lasting.
Luca is the “little” in this story – a poor little guy whose world is centered on survival. The “daddy” is the busy and successful lawyer Jarek and their encounter and subsequent unity makes for a fine romance. A peak at Charity’s writing this tale follows: ‘ I want that. That thought had been banging around in Jarek’s head for two weeks. Each night. Jarek sat on the same park bench and watched, the same man. On a blanket in the grass, with a hardhat compete with miner’s light, a smallish man sat…He used the light from his hat to see as he put together a Lego set…The man looked delicate and wispy…’ and so Jarek’s watchfulness of Luca is established and the rest is romance. Leave to Charity Parkerson to devise a new angle on her fine MM romances!
This is the first in a series by Charity Parker. Jarek is strung out over his job as a defense attorney, and desparately needs a break. While in a park he watches a young man build with legos. He sees so much freedom in the young man that he returns to watch him many times. Luca has noticed him watching while building with the legos. Jarek wants to get to know Luca, and appreciates his carefree persona, Luca on the other hand is overwhelmed with adulthood, on the verge of homelessness, and facing a move in 3 months when his lease is up. Jarek and Luca's relationship builds as Jarek learns about the lifestyle, from one of his clients, a member of a mob family. Beautiful story, and the perfect set up for the next one.
Having read this author several years ago, I wasn't sure what to expect from the "little" standpoint, and I was concerned about the low page count...
Yes, I would have liked more little/Daddy time and maybe off-page sex scenes... but that is my cup of tea and is not for everyone. I knew the writing would be good and I would love the characters. It was and I did!!! But, it was just so dang short... grrr
This was overall a very cute book. Whenever I read a shorter book like this I wish it was a little longer but this still had a satisfying plot and conclusion. Luca and Jarek meet when Jarek visits the local park to blow off steam. There he sees Luca playing with a LEGO set. After two weeks of keeping watch, he approaches Luca and from there they build their relationship. There is some angst/misunderstandings born from a lack of communication but it wasn't super distressing. Spice level: 1.5
Luca is a twenty three year old guy who works a crap job but plays every summer evening in the park on his own with his Lego. Jarek, lawyer for Boone Bosi, doesn't know why he keeps sitting watching him play, but it settles something in his soul. One night he involves himself when a scary guy follows Luca, then the two become friends, then more. It's a great intro to The Playpen and the Bosi crime family. There's definitely cute and sweet moments with spice, angst, laughter and love. Adorable.
4.5 stars. Gawd, this was so so sweet. My sweet precious little Luca. I love him so much and I just wanted to wrap him up in a blanket and protect him from the world. Jarek was great as well (though I wanted to strangle the shit out of him during the third act drama omg) and he was great to Luca. They had lovely chemistry and I liked how quiet of a romance this was. I absolutely loved it and I can definitely see myself reading it again. Can’t wait for book two.
Luca such a sweet boy. Jarek a determined Daddy. Together they make an adorable couple. Charity Parkerson wrote this short story that didn’t leave you hanging or think something’s missing. I’m not really a fan of novellas because of that reason. But this story was excellently written and brought out feelings in places that were very strong in the story. This book deserves a 5 star ⭐️ rating. It’s truly is amazing! 💜
Cute. I liked this couple. I think my struggle comes from the sexy times while in Little form. That's....new...and feels....weird. I kind of skimmed the sex scenes. I did like Luca and Jarek together, and liked the pacing of the relationship. 3.5
61 % DNF - 14. 7. 2025 I tried... I really really tried... But there was something that kept me from finishing the book and I cannot put my finger on it. It wasn't bad writing, the theme of the book, definitely not the kinks...
I enjoyed this short and sweet DD/lb story. The way they met was cute and struggles they encountered were relatable. I look forward to more from this series.
Jarek is a cold hearted defense attorney. Luca has a lonely existence and a sad past. But together they ignite things the other thought was long dead inside
Chaotic but in the worst way possible. Neither charter was likable and the story just felt extremely rushed. I'm only giving 2 stars because there were no spelling issues.
