Yet another fantastic book from RRHaywood. This book had a lot of right and wrong conversations, a lot of making you think about day to day life itself. This was great whilst reading about zombies 👌🏻
Only bad thing was the book was only 4.50hrs long on Audible. The book lengths are usually 10hrs ish, so I was gutted when it ended so quickly.
Joe jameson is the Narrator for this series and the range of voices he is able to do is incredible, each person sounds so unique, you know which character it is without the book prompting 'said nick' 'shouted blowers' etc. I'd love him to read all my books! 🤣👏🏻
I’ve been reading this series now for a decade. It’s going in a direction, what direction? Not a clue! I’ve loved the dystopian theme all the way through, it’s a niche genre that’s hard to get right, but The Undead ticked ALL the boxes, but the crossovers with the other books just aren’t it for me. The infections POV, where is it? He is coming? Gregori, the boy, Cassie. All gone. The Undead was something absolutely amazing and was one of the best series I’ve ever read. Unfortunately for me I think this is the last I’ll be reading 😓 sorry Boss, but a good review is an honest review.

It was nice to see how everyone acts when they get to have a break. The weather was awful but it also let everyone take a breather and actually deal with their emotions etc.
I'm glad that Booker was finally discovered, even if some of the evidence was planted. It was obvious that he wasn't quite right and there was something strange about him and the way he acted. He got what he deserved but I felt bad for Maddox as he genuinely thought he was just being paranoid and tried to be his friend but then had to kill him.
The pacing was good and I like how humour was used to lessen tensions and show how much everyone has bonded since they met.
I liked the ending. Maddox has always been very intelligent and he continues to surprise people with what he knows and what he can do.
Fantastic read.. an immersive experience with the current weather we've been having... the slow build to the next climax girding our loins.. Team dynamics evolving .. even a bonus 'book within a book'.. but I don't think Roy is a threat to RRH yet..
If you have just discovered this series, do yourself a favor and start at the beginning. If you prefer audio books, which I do, then give yourself a gift and increase your enjoyment by listening to The Undead starting with day one.
For current devotees of this series, don't hesitate to pick up each new release on Kindle.
Please disregard the minor grammatical errors and just thank Mr. Haywood for releasing these quickly (Thank you)!! He doesn't need to be a perfectionist and hold back until some uptight copy editor takes their sweet time to rip these apart. I also love that he is releasing these chapters as episodes vs. Waiting to codify them into a big book.
No spoilers--just a quick peek to whet your whistle--all of our favorite characters are here and there is even a cameo appearance by the "Old Lady." If you don't know who that is, do yourself another favor and read or listen to Haywood's book 'a town called Discovery.'
Actually, I recommend reading all of his writings. This suggestion is especially for you f'ing trolls who have criticized him for releasing other books before getting back into The Undead. Just shut up and read the Extracted series already. Sheesh.
You can also ease your hunger (bad pun) for The Undead by visiting his YouTube channel and listening to 'The Camping Shop' for FREE (thank you)!
And no, this isn't a paid advertisement nor do I know Mr. Haywood personally. I'm just a pathetically loyal fan girl. Enjoy!
I've been reading this series since it was first published on Kindle many years ago. I enjoyed the earlier books more.
I find the character Reginald incredibly irritating, he's a pompous and annoying tit. I also dislike the term 'The Elders'. Marcy has become a boring clichéd character who serves very little purpose beyond being attractive and having massive boobs (yawn). There are some great female characters in this series, she isn't one of them.
I'm glad it's moved away from the repetitive "jokes" seen in days 24 & 25, I didn't enjoy the day 25 book so day 26 and this one have been a definite improvement. The apparent crossover references to other book series by the author are lost on me as I haven't read them, they add absolutely no value to The Undead series.
It was good, though very short. There are a number of story threads that feel like they have been abandoned over the books, and it would be good to resolve or at least acknowledge some of them soon.
In all of his work, Haywoods own voice comes through. Often this is a good thing, though sometimes I find his "I don't understand young people/the world today" attitude coming out of young people's mouths a little jarring. And the books have had a largely miserable tone to them recently - which makes sense for the characters but hopefully this isn't the vibe for the rest of the books!
All that being said, I still gave it 4 stars. The characters and dialogue are great, the plot was really fun and provocative.
Four stars based on the series which is the best zompoc out there. However this latest edition was not as good as previous books. For one thing the books are so short you are just settling in to it when its suddenly all over !!! This one had way to much talking and almost no action. I'm sure Maddox storyline will become relevent eventually but at the moment I find it quite pointless and boring. Book 28 seems more promising with Dave getting into action again and surely getting back to the style we are accustomed to.
Another instalment written exceptionally well. But you don’t expect anything less from this bloke! The last part? I think I was holding my breath the whole while reading it!! How can one feel sorry for a ‘weirdo!’ ? Somehow I did! Just read these books from the beginning. You will not be disappointed! The zombie genre written at its very best by RR Haywood. 👏👏👏
Loved Twenty-Seven for the mood, pretty deep and dark which is what I love about his writing, you never know where he's going to take it in any of his novels. If you haven't read A Town Called Discovery, do yourself a favor and give it a quick read along with The Four Worlds of Bertie Cavendish/Extracted series for the Easter eggs in this episode.
Again. Disappointed. Maybe it's just me but it felt abit all over the place until about 40% in. Then it seemed all one person's perspective. I got a reference to another book series as well. But yeah didn't really enjoy this one either. Just my opinion

R. R. Haywood, you’re killing us! I devoured this in a single sitting, and can’t get enough of the team, their journey, and what will happened when Howie finds out the truth. We’re with you til the end!
Another good book, I enjoyed it even though there was not as much action in this one. The team seem I be splitting. And who would of thought Booker would turn out like he did.
Brooding in the garden centre the team are shuffled like chess pieces to root out a rotten apple. This instalment was a lot more mentally stimulating and there was less action than some but it was very interesting and character driven.

I liked it but it was shorter than the last. Seems like I just got comfy to enjoy this book and its over. Why? I'm enjoying this series but I need more and hopefully won't have too long of a wait. I feel like Day 27 was way better than Day 26 but even shorter.
Even when you are sure this story will give you *and The Team a "break," Haywood delivers action and plot twists you never see coming. Prepare yourself and dive back into this amazing universe.
Great read, why do I try to pace myself with these books when they draw me in instantly? Love the story, the way the characters develop. Couldn’t put it down - again!
God I love this series. How it's still this captivating this far in I don't know. Mr Haywood definitely knows how to create a cast of characters you just can't quit.
Once again RR Haywood keeps u on the edge of your seat with a rollercoaster of emotions. Fantastically descriptive and draws u in with every word. Can't wait to read 28 now.
And just like that, I've devoured another great book by Mr RR Haywood! Questions answered, but more questions posed! And now the wait recommences! To season five, book 28!
Another very short book. Perhaps the first book with no violence, instead a few set piece scenarios with an investigation, lots of sex and a pen. You can’t help but love these books.
