Blindsided by the discovery he’s a father, former Marine Theodore ‘Bear’ Alexander does the only thing he knows. Steps up, takes control of the situation, and leaves for the only home he’s ever known with his eight-year-old daughter before Christmas arrives. Shady Willow is everything a quaint small town should be for the Holidays. His new security gig at the local male revue? Not quite so quaint. For Adaline Redgrave, her life hasn’t turned out quite the way she hoped. Monotonous days running together in a blur until a sexy mountain of man, who should terrify her, wanders into her life. The little girl by his side draws her in, showing a softer side to the scary protective Marine. Addy quickly falls for both father and daughter. Taking care of Bear's little girl, and leaving the past behind, might be the leap of faith Addy needed to take. The sign she wished for night after night. But will the one thing that brought them together tear them apart? Or will the miracle of Christmas save them both from a danger they never saw coming?
This book is about Addy who lives in a small town called Kissing Springs. She is at the local Diner when she spots a handsome man with a younger girl (who she later finds out is Bear). Bear left the military and has taken on the responsibility of his daughter (after not knowing he ever had one) after the passing of her mother. Addy winds up going to a Bachelorette party and has a little too much to drink. Bear brings it upon himself to take care of her, so he makes sure she gets somewhere safe for the night. The next morning she wakes up and meets his daughter. One thing leads to another and she winds up with a job watching Ace. This leads her to get closer to Bear. But... Will the relationship work, or is it just a failure?! I will leave that up to you guys to pick up this book and read it!
M.R. Becker does a phenomenal job. This book flowed smoothly and was a very easy read. It had me hooked from the beginning! I promise you won't be disappointed with this one!
Bear, having recently found out about his 8 year old daughter, Alive-Grace (aka…Ace), is embracing this single dad gig. And he’s doing a mighty fine job at it too. I love the relationship that he & Ace have. Even though it’s strained at first, he still was adamant that she felt loved, & I feel like she did. When she embraced him & finally called him Dad, I think I teared up with him. Addy is a pistol & Im. It sure that Bear knew what hit him when they met. I loved their easiness with each other. Just the way that they fit. And when Addy met Ace, I loved how those two just clicked. Addy played an integral part in Bear & Ace’s relationship developing. I think they would’ve gotten there eventually, just because Ace is such a special child, but Addy definitely helped push it along. Bear was absolutely meant to move to Kissing Springs & that his grandmother’s friend was meant to have a niece designed especially for him.
Shy Santa, Book 5 of the Welcome to Kissing Springs series, is a fun mix of Christmas festivities, family sharing said festivities, and a surprising twist at the end. M.R. Becker’s characterization is well-done; I appreciated Bear, who is new to single fatherhood, and his determination to do right by his daughter. His insistence that he and Ace talk honestly was refreshing. Addy fit well with Bear and his little girl, and Ace—Alice Grace—stole the show.
Even with Bear’s willingness to sacrifice his own wants and needs for Ace, Shy Santa still has some delicious steamy scenes.
M.R. Becker’s take on the magic of Kissing Springs is cozy and fun ranging from hot cocoa and movie nights to a Christmas tree farm, a fun girls’ day of shopping to hot nights between Bear and Addy—all perfect for holiday reading! ~Tracy Broemmer, author of Toasted, A New Year’s Eve novella
“Out here, next to my daughter, laughing at the silly and sweet light displays, she had me falling down a dangerous path of what if.”
If you’re a sucker for sweet, steamy, holiday romances, you’ll enjoy this one.
It was such a cute novel, I didn’t want to put it down for a second. If I didn’t have to be a responsible adult, I probably would’ve finished it in one sitting, but alas, I had to break it into about 3 days.
I loved the characters. Sweet Addy, protective Bear, and adorable Ace. Aunt Shirley is the woman we all need around: keeps ya fed, sets you up with the new hunk in town, and always down for a tea party.
I really liked that there was just as much, if not more, of Bear’s POV. A lot of times stories focus so much on the FMC and I loved seeing as much into Bear’s mind as Addy’s.
Ace is such a fun character. Always calm, cool, and collected. It was nice to see her relationship grow with Bear.
This has all the elements of a great holiday single dad romance; big cinnamon roll guy, perfect adorable little girl, hard working heroine that just needs the right guy, hot sex scenes, nostalgic Christmas scenes. But then it veers off into sad territory without much warning and if you aren’t mentally prepared (I wasn’t) it can ruin your happy holidays vibe. I not saying it wasn’t handled well, just that this isn’t your typical fun holiday romance, so be prepared. Also it really needs better editing. There were enough mistakes that it breaks in the flow of the reading. Which is how I judge poor editing. I had to take off a star for this combo of elements.
I'll be honest, this was my first "Christmas" book that I have read. Sure, I've read books that had mentions of it, but this one was centered around it.
Bear and Addy are a great couple and as their story and relationship forms, you begin to cling to every moment they spend together. Then when Ace gets thrown in the mix it pulls at your heart strings even more. That little girl is adorable!
Very glad I found this book on FB. I already followed the author on Amazon.it was a necessity.
Wish I could’ve got more from the, but their story warms your heart if you need some with the chilly weather 🖤
I really enjoyed this story. Bear is a great character struggling to raise a daughter he didn't know about. Addy is living a pretty boring life until Bear enters her world. The chemistry between the two is great. I love the bar scene, so funny! I enjoyed seeing how Bear and Addy interact with his daughter. There is so much love and kindness going on in this book, except for Addy's sleazy co-worker. I would highly recommend this is you are in for a sweet holiday romance story.
I absolutely loved this book. Bear found out he had an 8year old daughter. Her mother had passed and he claimed her. It was a little tough at first, but they both slowly moved into a relationship. Abby came into the bar and had fun Bear as the bartender. Both her and her girlfriend had too much to drink. He escorted them home to the girlfriend but to his home for her. This was the beginning of love developing for them both. Such a great book!
This was a sweet story about Bear, a Marine who found out he had an 8-year-old daughter, Ace, whose mother died. They move back to Shady Willow where he was raised. Addy, who was harassed by someone at work, moved to the same village at about the same time. They become a family in this welcoming town. I really liked the story, there was humor, angst, and romance. There were some problems with some of the sentences, I give it 4 stars.
Bear needs to give me a giant bear hug b/c I love him. The way he is with his daughter (who he didn't know about) is so heart warming and real. She's such a sweet little thing and it made me so happy when she called him Dad. Eep... I want to hug them both. Perfect happily ever after for this little family!
This is my first read by this author and it won’t be my last. I love how instead of just being all sweet there’s a little bit of drama and suspense toto this story. This sexy single dad is beyond delicious. I highly recommend you read this ASAP. You won’t be sorry.
Loved the book, loved Bear, Addy and Ace (Alice-Grace). It had funny moments, sweet, steamy and some Sad moments. Loved that earlier characters from the other welcome to kissing Springs books made an appearance.
This is my first time reading work by M R Becker and my first visit to Kissing Springs. It did not disappoint. Small town romance with a little bit of spice / steam. Buff single ex Marine dad and his newly acquired daughter move into town and find love. I really enjoyed the story, it tugged on all the emotions. Funny banter, intrigue, desire, love, a little bit of feistiness, sadness, mystery and suspense all wrapped up in a dishy cover. I read this story in one sitting and it was a lovely easy relaxing read. I'm looking forward to reading more from Kissing Springs and any other work by this author.
Alice-Grace was the star of this book. What a sweet character. The whole book was so sweet and Bear was an amazing Dad, he was so sweet and kind. And Addy was the perfect fit for this duo. Loved every bit of this book.
This is a great story about three people coming together to make a family. It has some excitement, as well as some sadness. But it all comes together for a great finish.
Great book! I loved the single dad aspect. Bear & his daughter were so cute together! & Addy helped with their relationship growth a lot. This was a fantastic holiday romance & I really enjoyed it! I loved the FMC & the MC & his daughter! Deff recommend this!
Right before Christmas and Bear discovers he's a father. Add Addy to the mix and who knows what will happen. New family, new job, new girl and a little lovin. Nice Christmas read.
