This is an excellent book to teach children that there are 2 types of Complaining, each with polar opposite outcomes. Complaining for the sole purpose of venting negative emotions (blaming others, boredom, hurt, etc) without seeking a solution leads to more negativity, deeper disappointment, no learning., nothing gained. The book illustrates that there is a better way: complain with the goal of seeking a solution or a new understanding. Thanks Joy!
I think this is a good book for students to read. It teaches an important lesson about why cheating is bad and why doing your own work is rewarding. This is an important lesson to be taught to children when they are young so that they do not get in the habit of cheating at a young age.
I grew up on these books and absolutely love them! The Help Me Be Good books are great for young children. My children also loved them when they were young.
This book more targets on cheating from the non-cheaters perspective (especially in the first three quarters of the book). It still has some good points and great conversation starters.
This was a great book, and I am really surprised that I had to manually add it. It's about a little boy who decides to play with an older girl in a board game. She cheats and wins and rubs in his face that he lost. He felt awful for losing and started to think about cheating. He targeted someone younger who would be easy to beat and who wouldn't notice if he cheated. In the last minute he decides that cheating is bad and he didn't do it. When the other girl wanted to play, the boy simply refused to play with her because she cheated. The book explains why cheating is bad and why you shouldn't do it. This is a great book to read because of this.
Such a great book for kids and adults to read together!! Joy Berry has a wonderful way of bringing things to a kids level to help them understand things better. Sometimes as an adult we forget kids see and process the world differently than us.
Beautifully illustrated to help kids pay attention while learning valuable life lessons!

This is an entertaining book in the Help Me Be Good series that teaches children about ethical and moral themes.
I thought that this was an engaging story about integrity, doing the right thing, and not cheating. The narrative is short and easy to read aloud and the illustrations are colorful and cartoonish, if a bit dated.
A Children's Book About Cheating shows children playing games where one cheats and then shows how each child feels when the game is over. It teaches children to discuss the rules for a game before they start playing and the advantages of playing chance games where everyone has an equal chance to win. The last concept is to encourage children to have fun while playing and not stress the winning and losing aspects of game play. It is a great book to deal with children's feelings.
