About the author

John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.

This book is a collection of sermons by John MacArthur. The majority of them I heard streamed live from Grace Community Church. It was a blessing to read them in print. They are rich in God’s Word and a huge encouragement.

I highly recommend the book.

Such blessed hope and exhortation. When read with accompanying scriptures, this collection of sermons confirms faithful believers spiritual edification. I was grateful to receive this book through the ministry Grace For You. Each sermon is a reminder of who the believer is in Christ and how to live daily in light of difficult and dangerous times.

I am of 2 minds of this book. Naturally it’s MacArthur so it’s pure gold. On the other hand, the subtitle speaks of landmark sermons from 55 years of pulpit ministry. Yet everyone of these is less than 20 years old. It’s like go to a concert, expecting them to play their hits and all they play is new stuff. It’s okay… but it’s not why you came. Some books have a theme but this one seems to have a vendetta… against liberals esp wokism, Gov Newsome, and Covid. I expected better honestly

All of these select sermons are wonderful in their own right- but my favorite for this season of life was “Forgiveness in an Age of Rage.” I can hear Macarthur’s voice in my head reading his sermons 🙂
