Call Your Shot

Two childhood best friends, one last chance at love, everything to lose.

Nathan Sharpe’s path in life was clear from the moment he first picked up a baseball. He never thought anything would rival his love of the game… until he fell for Brenna Quinn—the girl next door, his high school teammate, his best friend. They were the couple everyone expected to last. Then a scandalous affair hit too close to home and upended their world. After high school, Brenna and Nathan each left their hometown, never expecting to see it—or each other—again.

Six years later, Nathan’s father leaves them an inheritance—his house, his business, and four cats—but only if they accept it together. Neither of them can afford to walk away from the opportunity to flip these properties. Brenna needs the money to support a custody fight for her sister. And Nathan, fearing his baseball career might be cut short by a shoulder injury, needs a safety net.

But working and living together proves their history may not be in the past at all. It isn’t long before Nathan and Brenna remember why they fell in love all those years ago. Resisting the blazing attraction between them is almost as impossible as overcoming their painful past. But maybe it will be okay… they’re only stuck together for the time being.

Fans of Mariana Zapata and C.W. Farnsworth will enjoy this dual-POV steamy small-town romance featuring second chance, friends to lovers, and forced proximity tropes, with Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) representation.

I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Short summary - Brenna and Nathan were childhood best friends that morphed into something more when they were teenagers. After an affair between their parents, Nathan moved away and they had a falling out. They never expected to see each other again until Nathan’s father leaves them an inheritance that they can only have if they accept it together. They live together at the house renovating it and they revamp the family business.

Let’s talk about the book itself for a second - there is a small drawing of Nathan as a pitcher and Brenna as his catcher at the top of every chapter. I love seeing little drawings like this - it’s so cute! Even better that it’s perfectly them.

These two were so cute! I love the fact that Brenna knows things about Nathan without him saying anything, and without them even talking about it! Like the fact that his shoulder has an overuse injury.

I love that HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) was included in this book and Nathan was genuinely curious as to what it is. Brenna getting custody of her little sister Molly was the icing on the cake.

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. 🤍

i enjoyed this book, however it didn’t captivate me the same way that the first book did. it felt like it was missing something but i can’t figure out what.

despite that, this was a lovely second chance sports romance with a very complicated family dynamic.

a super easy read if you want something sports-related :)

Nathan and Brenna were long-time best friends, teammates, and more, relying on one another both on and off the field. but when the unforgivable happens, they quickly drift apart.

this story follows Nathan and Brenna throughout their current lives while giving flashbacks to their time as teammates and friends. the two ex-besties are forced together after a loss and have no choice but to reconcile their past.

while I love a good forced proximity and friends to enemies to lovers story, I had a hard time getting into this one. the book started with toeing the line of a trope that I genuinely can’t stand, and I almost dnf’d, but the trope never played out and the story moved on. but the whole way through there was a sour taste in my mouth while reading because of that start and I had a hard time looking past it.

all in all, I was entertained! did I love it? not really. but the romance was cute and I was invested in the characters and learning about all that happened, so it was worth reading through! Brenna felt like a really relatable character and I loved how honestly she was portrayed - she wasn’t this big, strong, independent heroine who didn’t need saving. she was emotional, soft, but still strong. and nathan was the perfect person to balance her out.

I found myself comparing it to Play Your Part (which was *chefs kiss*) far too often, but I know Kathryn Kincaid is working on that book next so I’m eager to see what she writes!

As kids, Brenna and Nathan were inseparable, they were best friends, teammates and as they got older they became lovers but family drama tore them apart and now they’re strangers.

Eight years later, Brenna has uprooted her life for the past few months to help care for her seven year old sister once she learned her mom is back to her old ways leaving her life and fiancé in Chicago. Nathan is a minor league baseball player with commitment issues. The two are forced together again to discuss Nathan’s late father’s will … which leaves the two everything - Nathan’s childhood home and his fathers business but the two have to agree on everything before they can sell. Brenna and Nathan are forced to stay in the home together as they maneuver this new reality as their past is begging to be discussed.

This was a quick read for me. It reminded me of Love and Other Words and Just For the Summer with a sports twist. I really liked that they got past their previous issues and realized their love was worth it. I haven’t read anything else by her, but this was a good starting point and I’ll be keeping my eyes open for more!

I would like to thank NetGalley for the chance to read this book.
I enjoyed this book I read it in one sitting and enjoyed the story. I love second chance romance books and this book didn’t disappoint. The tension was amazing.

I love the representation of HSP. It wasn’t forced and just added to the storyline which was amazing. It helped me understand Brenna’s character, her behaviour and helped me love her more.

I love nicknames even if it’s just a shorter version of their names. I love how this book had duel POV so we could look into both of there heads and understand what they are thinking. I think all romance books needs dual POV.

Tropes in this book
Small town, home town, second chance, friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, forced proximity, sport romance.

CW
Infidelity, broken family, emotional manipulation, gaslighting, death of a parent, cheating

I love sport romance and I wish there was more baseball especially of Brianna playing because I loved that she played baseball. As a female who use to play baseball it’s cool to spread about females playing sport.

I didn’t really like the two timelines. It was great looking into the past but I think it was over used and didn’t add to the story all the time.

Thanks to Kathryn Kincaid and NetGalley for an ARC of Call Your Shot!

I’m definitely in my baseball romance era and enjoyed this super sweet love story. The story covered some serious topics delicately while also managing to be sweet with some funny moments and some spice!!

POV: dual first person

You can expect: childhood sweethearts, second chance, baseball pitcher MMC, former baseball catcher FMC, physical therapy student FMC, friends to lovers, forced proximity, “there’s a blackout so we have to share a bed for warmth”, small town, gaining guardianship of a sibling.

Rep: chronic pain caused by untreated shoulder injury, highly sensitive person (HSP), anxiety

Spice: 2/5

CW: emotionally neglectful parent, cheating, sports-related injury.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kathryn Kincaid for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

As with the first novel in the series, I very much enjoyed Call Your Shot. I’ve been on quite the second chance romance kick lately, and this was another fun one to add to the list! I did find the basic premise to feel pretty familiar, but it was still a fun take on the trope! Overall, I’m looking forward to what comes next in this series!

4.5⭐️- I’m not usually a fan of second chance romances but Kathryn Kincaid has my whole heart with this book 🥹 this was so adorable and funny, but was also scattered with important messages on grief, family dynamics and sensitive personality traits.

I loved the representation of HSP 🫶🏼 this is the first book I’ve ever seen this spoken about in and as an extremely sensitive person myself, I felt so seen and understood in Brenna’s character.

The angst and tension was so heart wrenching in this book for Brenna and Nathan, I loved that it was written in dual POV so we could get inside both of their heads. Their love and longing was evident from start to finish, they really had to fight to get back to each other and I love that they never shied away from the heartbreak of their past. The side characters were incredible too, you don’t have to read book 1 first but I highly recommend it as the characters do pop up!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this book, in exchange for my honest review 💕 I can’t wait to see what else Kathryn releases in the future.

🎯 What I loved: I read and really enjoyed the first book in this series, Play Your Part, and recently received an eARC of the third book in the series, so wanted to make sure that I got caught up on the series before diving into the new book. What I found is that these are really interconnected standalones and if you're anticipating characters that played a big part in the first book being the featured characters in this book, know that this book features mostly new characters, a different sport and just has a few moments of connectivity to the previous book. That said, it keeps the sports romance theme going and is a cute second chance romance about two childhood best friends who spent a few great months together before circumstances tore them apart in high school. This had a nice dual POV and dual timeline that really dug into why Brenna and Nathan broke up initially and some fun side characters. There was some unique character representation which I always appreciate and a nice note about the impact of the representation on the author that is worth reading.

🙅‍♀️ What I didn't: Some parts of the plot felt undeveloped or didn't make sense, like Brenna really wanting to become her sister's guardian because her mom wasn't taking care of her but being okay leaving her alone with her mother for three months during the majority of the book. I also got the ick that Brenna was still engaged to someone else for the first 40% of the story. I know that she and Nathan weren't together then but to rush from one serious relationship to the next didn't jive well for me. And though I liked the dual timeline, it highlighted that things went south in their initial relationship pretty quickly (yes, there were outside circumstances...) so it was hard to see them trying to get 'back' to a place where they were happy with each other when it really had been so short lived to begin with. Suffice it to say that I found a lot Call Your Shot problematic but am hopeful that the next book will redeem the series for me.

Small-town, hometown, second-chance, friends-to-lovers, forced proximity sports romance

Review:
This was a cute read. It was my first small-town/hometown novel and only my second sports romance. It perfectly fits into the tropes referenced above, and I learned about a new condition for how certain people experience the world. I had never heard of an HSP before, which stands for Highly Sensitive Person. The author's note at the beginning and Brenna's descriptions and experiences throughout the story highlight this unique experience.

Much of the plot/conflict points in this story are M-E-S-S-Y. If you are here for the drama, then you'll definitely enjoy reading about what got Nathan and Brenna to the point they're at when we meet them in Call Your Shot. There are several great side characters to love, and I can see this world continuing to expand to show some of their stories.

As the sister of a lifelong softball player, I remained a bit confused about the HS team setup. It referenced the state championships, but I couldn't fully discern if this was a community team, high school team, or "select" private team. I was not the one directly involved in this world, but I personally never saw a non-gendered team roster while I grew up in the south. I let this thought come to mind a couple of times then just instead chose to focus on the characters and watching their development.

Overall rating: 4/5
Spice rating: 3/5

If the hometown trope is your jam, then you will LOVE this! All of the messiness and drama pays off with our HEA at the end.

“Two childhood best friends, one last chance at love, everything to lose.”

I am 100% a sports romance book girlie. Hockey, foot, soccer, you name it. Now in real life? I’m a baseball girlie. Finding baseball romance isn’t the easiest so when I saw this book on NetGalley I requested it immediately. Last summer I had the pleasure of reading Kathryn’s hockey romance and loved it, so I knew this one would be just as good.

Let me tell you. It wasn’t just as good. It was better. I loved Play Your Part (Kathryn’s hockey romance book), but she truly found her voice with this one. I don’t want to go too much into the plot because of spoilers, but Goodreads has a great synopsis.

Childhood friends to lovers ✅
Childhood friends to lovers to enemies ✅
Dual POV ✅
Dual timelines ✅
Second chance romance ✅
Forced proximity ✅

This book had all the feelings that I love from these tropes and more. One minute I was laughing out loud. The next I was openly weeping. While I absolutely loved Brenna’s character growth, we see so much of Nathan’s throughout the story. While Brenna has come to terms with so many of the hardships that have been handed to both her and Nathan, he takes a little longer, making his journey all the more sweet. The angst and tension was top tier.

This book is perfect for fans of Love and Other Words and Every Summer After but with a sports twist. I already cannot wait for the author’s next book. This one is out now!!! And on KU!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op, and the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Nathan and Brenna are the absolute cutest couple. Having grown up next door to each other, playing baseball together, and being the best of friends! An unfortunate event leads to their falling out, even though they both still truly cared for one another, but Nathan was pissed, and he had every right to be.

Years later, Nathan and Brenna (who is engaged) are called back to their hometown for the reading of Nathan's fathers will, where these two learn that they are about to inherit a house and a cafe together. Nathan's father gave stipulations though, the two must keep possession of the properties for at least 6 months, or all proceeds from the sales go to charity.

Nathan needs the money because he is uncertain of his minor league career, Brenna needs to money to help secure custody of her younger sister. Can the two really put aside their past/differences and do what needs to be done.

With the forced proximity, these two are learning they still have that magnetic pull to one another. As Brenna grapples with the facade of her failing engagement, and Nathan confronts his buried emotions, their shared history resurfaces with undeniable intensity.

Through playful paint fights, nostalgic baseball games, and the familiarity of home, Nathan and Brenna rediscover a truth long obscured by time and distance. When they end up snowed in, it forces them to finally confront the truths they've avoided for years, laying bare their hearts and clearing the fog of uncertainty.

Call Your Shot is a tender exploration of second chances and the enduring power of love. Kathryn Kincaid crafts a heartwarming narrative that reminds us that sometimes, coming home means finding the courage to embrace what's always been right in front of us.

I enjoyed this one as much as the first (Play Your Part ) - both were so well written and great storylines! Kathryn Kincaid does a great job and I can’t wait for more of her books!!

The story of Nathan and Brenna was a really good one - the neighbors growing up together from teens with hard home lives and grow together as besties because of baseball. Her mom has an interesting lifestyle that hits way too close to home and breaks up Nathan’s parents… an affair that ends up causing Nathan and his mom to leave town, the pair to end their budding relationship and best friendship, and gives them a sister one adores and one ignores.

When his father passes, Nathan is forced back to town, and terms of his will force him to remain there, with Brenna, living in his old house and running his dad’s old business with his old friend, for at least 6-months before they’re allowed to consider selling. His father knew he’d made mistakes including breaking up the pair when he broke up his marriage. He figured the terms of his will forcing their proximity and to reconnect with the house and business might bring them together and reconcile…

Such a beautiful story, even with (especially because of?) the messed up family dynamics. I loved learning about the sensitivity issues Brenna suffered with her highly sensitive person disorder - I didn’t understand this but now I can see that many people I’ve come across in my years must have been affected by this but from this being undiagnosed, they weren’t properly understood by the world around them.

My only issue was the slight love triangle aspect…

I would definitely recommend this for all romance audiences, especially those who enjoy learning about new conditions or reading about … neurodivergent? different or sensitive characters. Very well done, especially since the author has the condition herself and wrote with personal experience and perspective about how a person would react to the situations and environment.

I received an advance copy from Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and this is my honest feedback.

Call Your Shot is a sweet and spicy second chance, baseball romance between two former childhood best friends. Nathan and Brenna were best friends, teammates, and sweethearts before their lives took a turn when their parents became involved with each other. Years later they are forced to reconnect after Nathan’s father dies and leaves his house and business to both of them.

Kathryn Kincaid hits it out of the park with this sophomore novel! I greatly enjoyed Nathan and Brenna’s rollercoaster of a journey from childhood best friends to frenemies to lovers. The slow burn of their rekindled romance was written authentically and believable and you couldn’t help but root for their love. Brenna is also a highly sensitive person and it was refreshing to see a neurodivergent character as well as learn more about how those who are HSP cope with their surroundings. This representation mixed with the complex and toxic family dynamics added amazing depth to the plot. Overall, this was a great story about friendship, forgiveness, and soul deep love.

I'm excited for the next book in this series and hoping that it's Leo!

Thank you so much to Kathryn for my advance copy in return for my honest review.

4⭐️ 2🌶️

Some Tropes:
⚾️ Best Friends to Lovers
❤️ Second Chance
⚾️ First Love
❤️ Found Family

The Characters:

Brenna is a Kinesiology college student who had to put her life on hold in order to help take care of her family. She was in a relationship where feelings were dwindling and she didn’t know where her life was going to go.

Nathan is in the off season for baseball and just lost his dad. He is emotionally withdrawn, stubborn, and holding onto grudges that would burn him if he wasn’t careful.

My Opinion:

This book was a rollercoaster. The flashbacks connected really well with the “now.” I thought the flow of the book was planned very well and it helped really build the story line.

My only qualm was how quickly the ending happened. From the time Brenna’s mom made her decision to the end was abrupt and I wish that part of the story, of their lives, would’ve been given a little more substance. It was a huge build up to these decisions and I felt the ending was very deflated, but still good.

I would totally read this book again. I am obsessed with this series and I love how Kathryn tied 2 different sports and storylines together to keep the characters from the first book alive in this one.

I really hope Leo and Deandra get a book 😂🙏🏼

Steam: 2.5/5 🔥

Nathan and Brenna bring you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. These two were the best of friends, teammates and partners in crime growing up. Until feelings changed and they became more. But family drama and stubbornness got in the way of their happily ever after.

Nathan’s dad died and leaves them each with a letter and list of demands that brings Brenna and Nathan face to face for the first time in years. It’s ugly, and emotional but in a good way. They finally discuss the problems they have currently and what tore them apart in the past. You get flashbacks in dual POV which helps answer a lot of questions.

@authorkathrynkincaid did a lovely job showing the growth and maturity of these characters. You’ll never be able to forget your first love who was your everything. But when it’s the one who got away who you always knew was your person, there’s no denying the pull there is to each other. Nathan and Brenna have been through a lot together and separate but the support they showed for each other and how they built each other up was heartwarming after they aired their dirty laundry and made emends.

Man this book. What an emotional tug! It is the second in a series and does highlight the first couple well throughout the book in a way that allows this one to be a standalone. Kathryn took second chance and went with it hard. The story goes back and forth from past to present and is written and put together so well. The details are shared at just the right time to understand what is happening in the present and why it mattered. Also the FMC has a diagnosis of Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). It was interesting to get the background of her perspective in the story and also how her diagnosis impacts her relationships.

Nathan and Brenna are childhood best friends who admit their attraction for each other in high school and start dating. So many things happen in their family dynamics individually and together that they end up breaking each others hearts SO hard. It was so very sad to see them go from the joys of being together to utter heartbreak. In the present, they are asked to come back to their small town and find out they inherited his childhood home and the business his father owned. The catch is they have to stay together. Their journey back together to heal old wounds and finally communicate everything that was needed was intense but necessary. They had a very sweet HEA as they created an incredible family. Great read!

Nathan + Brenna were childhood best friends and briefly dated 8 years ago. When they broke up their relationship was left in shambles. Fast Forward to present day and Nathan is playing baseball in the minor leagues and Brenna has a fiancé in a separate state while she is taking care of her mom and sister. Following Nathan's father passing, Nathan and Brenna are both asked to come to the will reading where they receive a joint ownership over his father's cafe and house. One problem is the can't sell for at least 6 months.

I loved Nathan POV, but I did not love Brenna's at the beginning. Her fiancé really annoyed me and she was not straightforward to him which bugged me. Usually I love the build up tension in books before the couples get together, but I actually really enjoyed the couple once their relationship was further established later in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the ending of the book and the chemistry the had.

Also the representation of HSP was really good. It was a really good addition to Brenna's character and the storyline.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I just didn’t connect to the characters or the story in any way which made me enjoy this book less and less. This book moved fast while reading and the chapters went quick, but also at times I felt like I wasn’t making in progress. I felt like the characters didn’t have consistent personalities and some of the things they said/did would contradict with how they were described. I got confused when we finally found out more information on why they split apart in the younger years and a lot that happened in the past timeline. I also don’t typically like when one of the main characters is in a different relationship in the beginning and how that factors in. It was also a little weird to me the way they were almost (kinda but not really) step siblings and that’s a trope I always avoid when I know about it so didn’t love that. I did like the fact the author included HSP in this book as I didn’t even really know that was an actual diagnosis!

Nathan was the boy next door, and the boy on the pitcher's mound. Brenna has been trying to ignore her feelings for him, but then he comes back from baseball camp and kisses her. But then their young love hits a roadblock. Eight years later, his dad has passed and both of them are back in their hometown for the reading of his will. He left his house and business to Nathan and Brenna, but they have to own them together for six months. Brenna really needs the money, but can she face seeing Nathan every day?

I love the way Kathryn Kincaid writes! The emotions just leap off the page and tug at my heartstrings. Zach is still my number one guy in the All In universe, but Nathan makes a strong showing with his deep, long-term pining. Brenna definitely deserves a better mother, and I love that she was fighting hard for her sister.

Childhood best friends Nathan and Brenna have been lovers, enemies, and then lovers again. They had grown up next door to one another for years, but when family issues interfered with their high school romance, they broke up. That is, until Nathan's father passed away and left half of everything to both Bren and Nate.

Nathan and Brenna realize their previous feelings have not gone away, and after a breakup, a winter storm that turns into a power outage in which they are trapped in one room with four cats, and confessed feelings, they finally grasp what they have been missing all along.

I love this story from beginning to end. It's more than a story of love. It's a story of hurt, loss, change, second chances, and family, with many unexpected surprises along the way.

This book was amazing! Highly recommend!

Thank you to Kathryn Kincaid and Netgalley for an ARC to review.

Eight years after Nathan corners his best friend Brenna in their baseball team dugout to confess his attraction to her, he's once again thrown in her path trying hard to suppress his feelings for a now-engaged woman. Little does he know that Brenna feels the same way about him. This sweet 2nd forced-proximity chance romance takes place after Nathan's mostly estranged father leaves everything he owns to the two of them in his will attempting to right the wrongs he made that ripped these once young lovers apart. Call Your Shot is a cute, quick straightforward read that brings all the sweet feels for a good HEA booster shot.

HSP rep included.

TW: toxic parental figures, their parents have an affair/get married, emotional abuse by parents, FMC trying to gain custody of a younger sibling.

I liked it a little less than stick your landing. Apparently this one comes first in the series!?!

1st - play your part - Kennedy Cole and alexei

2nd - call your shot - Brenna and Nathan and Nathan kissed deandra who is friends with Gemma and Kennedy Cole (blue hair) and they work for the wolves duh. Brenna’s sister molly likes hockey so they go to a game and Molly mentions ZACH BRIGGS !!!

3rd - stick your landing - Finley and Zach. Finley is Matt’s sister and likes Zach who plays for the Palmer city wolves hockey team with Matt (where Kennedy and deandra work!) and Gemma is Matt’s wife !! And they mention an old guy named Bertram.

Did Nathan ever say “I’m sorry” ?????? Pissed me off a little idk. They should’ve talked before having sex or whatever they did that night.

Loved this 🥰 Brenna and Nathan were childhood best friends and became each other’s first love, but family drama tore them apart as teenagers. Now, as adults, Nathan’s dad’s will forces them back together and they finally get their second chance.

It took a wee while to get into this with the messy family drama - it was complex but I once got my head around it, it made the story all the more gripping. This is an addictive second chance love story - with so much angst, longing, heat and tenderness.

What to expect:

- second chance romance
- friends to lovers
- first love
- family drama
- found family
- sports romance
- quite spicy

This was a fun read but it just lacked a little something compared to the first in the series. However, it was still lots of fun to read. I am not a fan of cheating and so the parental cheating was a little difficult to read but written really well. I really enjoyed the flashbacks and the dual POV. These were both used in a way that really enhanced the story. The two characters were lovely but I would have liked a little more sport. I hope this series continues and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

😍😍😍😍 (Out of 5)

Big thanks to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and Kathryn Kincaid for this early release copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars

tropes:
- baseball romance
- estranged childhood friends (frienemies) to lovers
- small town
- second chance
- dual timeline
- dual POV
- forced proximity
- roommates
- one bed
- it's always been you

I'm a sucker for sports romances, especially if they revolve around hockey or baseball. So, when I saw the cover for Call Your Shot had both the MMC in a baseball uniform AND the FMC wearing catching equipment, I immediately requested it on NetGalley.

As someone who has experienced both sides of the pitcher-catcher dynamic in softball, I was impressed by Kathryn Kincaid's portrayal of the connection between players in those positions. It goes beyond mere teammates; you really have to be able to read each other.

One aspect I really enjoyed was the use of a then-and-now timeline for the second chance romance. This approach adds so much depth to the relationship between Nathan and Brenna, by gradually revealing insights into their past and present struggles.

Kincaid masterfully crafted dynamic characters. Nathan grapples with the grief of losing his father, with whom he had a strained relationship, and faces a potentially career-ending injury. Meanwhile, Brenna is determined to rescue her sister from their toxic mother's clutches while pursuing her dream of completing her master's in physical therapy. Their individual challenges add layers to their strained relationship and make their journey all the more compelling.

I adored the representation of having an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) FMC. Although I was not aware that HSP was a diagnosable trait, as an empath, I can sincerely appreciate the emotional rollercoaster that is life and experiencing it differently than many people.

I’ve had the pleasure of reading this book twice, and it only got better!

I related to Brenna so much with her HSP and the way she views the world. Kathryn does such a beautiful job of explaining how it feels to feel too much sometimes, and Nathan is the perfect guy to allow Brenna the space to process those feelings.

Speaking of Nathan… damn. Talk about a perfect book boyfriend. Sure she said and did some things in the past that weren’t great, but it’s clear that his love for Brenna never faded. Not even when he was hurt and angry at the things happening in his life.

I have no doubts I’ll read this story again. The characters are wonderful, and I’m excited to get more from Kathryn and this world she’s created.

Am I in my baseball era?? I loved Katherine Kincaid's hockey romance, so I jumped on the chance to read this one via Netgalley.

Call Your Shot had similar writing to Play Your Part (the first in the series) where the MCs have deep problems in their life that they need to work through in order to allow themselves to love and be loved. The MMC is very well written and easy to fall for. The FMC has family issues that persist throughout the story. The writing wasn't always my favorite but the storyline overshadowed those qualms.
