Rate this book
A refuge is found while danger looms. Time is running out.

Alex, Imara, Sirenī, and Carter have made Earth their home, forging bonds with Special Agents Brent Eton and Drëndi Sørensen and building a life on Jordan’s property. They enjoy a newfound freedom, but peace is fleeting.

As a dark necromancer's plans escalate on Gaea, the absence of the Three leaves their native world vulnerable. Back on Earth, Alex faces a daunting task—teaching Imara and Sirenī to harness magical and mystical forces swiftly, a skill he took four decades to master. With time slipping away, they must discover a way to extend it, or risk losing everything to the encroaching darkness.

C.S. Harris

C.S. Harris has been a storyteller since before he could spell his own name. What began with crayons and a battered typewriter became a lifelong pursuit of wonder—worlds where love defies fear, and power comes with a human cost.

He lives in Maine with his wife and some cats who think they’re on the payroll. When he’s not writing, he’s usually lost in thought about distant suns, forgotten gods, or how to smuggle an extra cup of coffee into the afternoon.

For Harris, every story is a mirror—one that reflects the beauty, chaos, and fragile hope that make us human. Reunion of the Three is the first glimpse into that reflection: a story of love, exile, and the courage to come home again.

C.S. Harris delivers a sweeping, imaginative, and emotionally charged fantasy in The Vergence of Time. This book masterfully combines high-stakes adventure, temporal tension, and richly developed characters in a world where every decision carries weight across dimensions.

The novel opens with Alex, Imara, Sirenī, and Carter attempting to rebuild their lives on Earth, but the looming darkness on Gaea threatens both worlds. Harris weaves this duality peace and peril, love and loss, creation and destruction into a deeply compelling narrative that examines the fragile nature of time itself.

What stands out most is Harris’s ability to blend the cosmic with the intimate. The detailed world-building, balanced with powerful emotional beats, makes The Vergence of Time both thrilling and deeply human. The dialogue is sharp, the pacing urgent yet controlled, and the mystical elements are described with lyrical precision. It’s a story about courage, sacrifice, and the indomitable will to protect what truly matters.

A remarkable fusion of fantasy, urgency, and heart, Harris crafts a universe that feels vast yet personal, cementing The Vergence of Time as a standout in contemporary speculative fiction.

I read this series when it came out last year and loved it. I heard that the author is releasing the fourth book this summer so I’ve just re-read the first three books. I enjoyed them even more the second time! This series is extremely well written, very professional with almost no errors or typos, and for Indie self-published books that isn’t always the case. The world building is done very well, it’s balanced with action so that it isn’t slow at all. The books do all end with cliff hangers and they aren’t stand alone at all, but the wait has been worth it. There is so much amazing magic and magical creatures in the story, plus lots of friendship, love and connection. It’s also a breath of fresh air that the book has LGBTQ characters, we need more stories like this!

Note: this is book 3 of 3 in a series.

DNF.

The repeated theme of "look at our fearless trio who are in a throuple! Isn't it great?" got old. Despite wanting to know how it ends, I couldn't bring myself to read more of that. I don't have a problem with alternate Universes or alternate social mores, but there is only so much I can handle being thrust at me (pun intended).

If the main "character" was a heterosexual couple, and their heterosexuality and couple-ness was being yelled at me constantly, I still would not have finished this series.

The Vergence of Time is a fascinating blend of suspense, imagination, and emotional depth. C.S. Harris crafts a story that is as gripping as it is thought-provoking, weaving together themes of time, destiny, and human resilience. The pacing is sharp, the worldbuilding rich, and the characters feel authentic and compelling. This is the kind of book that doesn’t just entertain it lingers in your mind, making you reflect on its ideas long after you’ve turned the last page. A truly immersive and unforgettable read.

The Vergence of Time really surprised me in the best way. The sense of urgency hits from the very beginning, and I loved how the story balances real danger with the characters’ growing bond. Seeing Alex push himself to teach Imara and Sirenî in such a short window made the stakes feel personal and intense. The necromancer threat creeping over Gaea adds a great layer of tension. This feels like the moment where the entire series levels up.

This book is packed with movement new challenges, new worlds, new pressure. I really enjoyed the mix of Earth moments and high stakes magical training. The pacing kept me reading longer than I planned, especially once the danger on Gaea started rising. Harris does a great job of blending supernatural elements with real emotion. A strong, exciting third installment that makes you want the next book immediately.

What I loved most about this installment is how much depth it adds to the characters and the world. Alex’s struggle to pass on decades of knowledge in a short time is one of the book’s strongest emotional threads. The shifting between Earth and Gaea creates a fascinating contrast, especially as the necromancer’s plans escalate. It’s a story filled with urgency, mystery, and magic, and it sets the stage for even bigger things to come.

I really enjoyed this one! The characters feel more connected than ever, and their time on Earth adds a nice warmth before things start getting complicated again. The mix of fantasy, danger, and a literal race against time kept me hooked. I especially loved how the relationships between the characters keep growing even as the stakes rise. Definitely one of the more gripping entries in the series.
