If you look for a heroine who is a complete and utter idiot and a hero who reminds you more of a Neanderthal chimp rather than a man, look no further.
This book will be perfect for you.
I honestly wanted to find something at least remotely appealing about this book (it was recommended to me by one of my book buddies) but I failed miserably. There is nothing, zilch, nada.
1. The plot is non existent. He chases her grunting that she belongs to him, she pretends that she runs away but not really because every time they just end up making out.
2. There's an age gap. She is 21 and he is 43, but I a
can assure you that you would never have guessed that if it wasn't mentioned in the book because they both act like immature middle schoolers and their combined IQ can't be higher than the room temperature.
3. The writing style is bad. A lot of mistakes which I could forgive if the story was somehow gripping. Well, it is as interesting as watching paint dry.
4. The amount of stupidity that piles up right from the beginning is overwhelming.
5. No man who is 43 should live in a house with his 6 brothers.
6. I normally dig cute nicknames and terms of endearment. This guy, however, killed baby girl for me.
7. Everything seems very repetitive. But again, no plot whatsoever.
I guess I could go on and on but what's the point?
Summing up, I normally love me some fucked up, possessive hero and a sweet heroine. This book, however, doesn't deliver. It's as if it was written by a horny teenager. The cover is really bad but I hoped the content would somehow manage to make it up to me. Again, it didn't.
Hence 1 star.

Lol I just can't with this. Cringe to the max. I love JP heros as much as the next person but this dude went from watching the heroine for a year, with only a few words to her while STILL sleeping with other women, to throwing her over his shoulder, texting her dirty stuff, and calling her "baby girl"🤢 the next day. Meanwhile heroine couldn't get it up for anyone because they didn't live up to the hero. A little pathetic as obviously the hero didn't think the same way about her👍

The books starts with a warning about the asshole Hero. (Where have you been all this years? I’ve been waiting for you)
Because what’s not to love about a massive lumberjack, rough hands, big beard, grumpy and possessive alphahole?
Yes, he was a jerk, yes, he had massive trust issues and crazy demands, and obviously very well endowed, which I guess, makes up for everything 🙃
The fact that the heroine didn’t end up complying with his crazy demands was a plus.
Anyways, light and fun read, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Plot in a nutshell: Bonnie's had a long-time crush on Beau since she was a teenager, but he's never thought of her as anything but a kid. Until one day, Bonnie's all grown up and Beau gets hit with a whopper of a realization.

To me it's obvious, she's mine and we're together, but for some reason she doesn't seem to think it's that easy.Their back and forth was so entertaining. I LOL'd quite a few times at the utter OTT cheesiness of it all.
In less than twenty-four hours he's destroyed the romantic fantasy I've had of him and replaced it with this pig-headed Neanderthal.And let me tell you, this book was sizzling, melt your kindle HOT! Beau wasn't just possessive and unreasonable, he was also very much into dirty-talking.

Why in God's name are they double wrapping condoms? That's like...the best way to get a condom to rip. I'm so confused. Has the author never had sex before? Or taken a sex ed class?
Also, the heroine is five-one and the hero is like..."way over 6 feet" yet they can kiss and fuck at the same time. The author needs to get a couple or proportionate dolls and try and make that work. For real.

2.5 Cooing Baby Girl stars 😂
There was a heck of a lot of cooing happening in this book and baby girls. I reckon the count on that had to be close to 100.
I understand now why this book is a bit polarizing in the book group I'm in.
Thoughts:
- 7 grown men in their 30's and 40's living together is...Snow White territory and tbh that was weird too
- Beau was straight up manipulative which I can tolerate when reading an anti hero character but he wasn't meant to be one so it was just red flag city
- I do love steam rolling H's though so I did enjoy that (I left my feminism card at home)
- Bonnie was....confusing. She's lusted after this guy for years and then he shows her some interest and she's like "omg no, yuk get away from me"
- I actually never really felt like Bonnie loved or even liked Beau to be honest. She seemed pretty meh about everything and him which again, pretty weird for someone who has lusted after a dude for years.
- the incessant "mine" business got a bit much. In fact Beau was a highly repetitive dude. He literally had 4 phrases and just cycled through them
- the sex was pretty hot so really that's what the stars are for and the fact I didn't completely dislike Beau
So there you have it. Ultimately Bonnie fucked this book up for me, I think I could have handled Beau better if she hadn't been such a screeching shrew that seemed to hate him for 90% of the book and just used him for sex.

Property Of The Mountain Man is the first book in the Montana Mountain Men series by Gemma Weir and the first and last one I will read. I was in for a "super possessive alpha-male" hero kind of book and I was sorely disappointed. So many things are wrong with this story and I couldn't even enjoy it as an over the top one. Let's begin with the Mountain Man. Beau has been keeping an eye on Bonnie for the past year, making sure that she is safe. He doesn't even know why he does it, but it's his daily routine. Bonnie has been pinning for him for a decade and yet the only words he said to her in the past year were related to his coffee order. One day, a man from a big city came into the cafe, saw Bonnie for the beauty she is, and decided to ask her out. Suddenly Beau acts with jealousy and possessive of Bonnie. Upon his arrival at home, his brothers are the ones to point out that he has feelings for Bonnie and from that moment and on he wants to make sure that everyone knows that Bonnie was his and acts like he has been her boyfriend for the last 93842 years. He went from a dude who ignored and barely talked to Bonnie to a possessed man. I would have been ok with this whole situation IF Beau actually had feelings for Bonnie before the other dude incident. I might hate Bonnie too, but I agreed on one thing with her. He didn't know her and he never bothered to find out more about her. Beau is the kind of man who demands miles and Bonnie wasn't willing to give him even an inch. Bonnie had a whole routine in her life and that dude couldn't find even one thing she did acceptably. There is controlling and then is Beau. Alexa Riley's heroes are so much better.
Bonnie kept talking about communication and knowing each other, but she was a huge hypocrite who never bothered to initiate either and was just bringing them up to delay her relationship with Beau. There is a part where she ignores Beau's messages which I hate because then she moaned about communication and honestly she did everyone involved a dirty. She neither stood her ground nor did it make it easy for the reader when it came to her accepting her fate to be with Beau.
The worst thing in the book wasn't anything mentioned above but it's a little related to some things. You see, even though Beau was hanging around Bonnie for the past year, he was also sleeping around. A couple of weeks before the events of the book he slept with a woman who later in the book makes a scene and warns Bonnie about Beau. That is strike number one. The second strike came when Beau thought it was a good idea to take Bonnie to a place where the bartender is a woman he was sleeping with in the past. He and his brothers are hanging out a lot there so why not take Bonnie too? This chapter, where Bonnie is confronted by 2 women from Beau's past, is the reason why I decided to not even consider reading the next books.

I think we can all agree this is not a literary masterpiece. But it was pure fun to read!!
It's an OTT caveman alpha to the extreme, it's an age gap of 22 years and a huge height difference, it's a virgin h and a kinda manwhore H. I was honestly surprised at how strong willed the h was, considering what type of book this was. Every time he pushed her into a corner she pushed back and I was secretly thrilled. (You go girl!!) At one point she even kicks him in the nuts, and then steals his truck! 😂
I loved the relationship she had with her father, I loved how hard she worked at everything she did, she was strong even though at times she felt overwhelmed.

I was in need of a strong alpha lead and Property of The Mountain man didn’t disappoint.
Beau has been watching over Bonnie for a while. She works in the local coffee shop and he feels protective of her. When an out of town guy shows an interest in her Beau’s hand is force. He wants to claim what’s his.
Beau is a caveman, alpha male with one goal in mind. This is an entertaining story to watch unfold. Bonnie is strong willed but who could resist such a hot blooded beauty of a man.
I really enjoyed this story. I’m a fan of an overbearing male. The chemistry is hot and the the relationship is destined. Please give me more of this series.

The dynamic between our leads, Beau and Bonnie, was so much fun! Beau was an oblivious man, until he wasn’t. When he realized that Bonnie was it for him, there was no turning back, no take-backs; Beau was all in. Our girl Bonnie has blindsided by the 180 the surly stud turned since she’d been crushing on him for nearly 10 YEARS! Despite her feelings for him, she didn’t just dive in, she made him prove their relationship wasn’t fleeting.
Property of the Mountain Man is a light, fun, super steamy read. Did I mention that in this particular installment, we get a side of delicious age gap with our OTT/JPA. Oh, and he’s a lumberjack? If OTT jealous/possessive alphaholes are your style, you need the Barnett brothers in your life!

Meh 20% & then better after, just like in Weir's Spare Part 1.
1st 20%:
Meh pacing/characterization/emotion. Awkward romance & S chem that either felt 1-sided &/or disjointed or just lacking. 43yo neighbor logging-owner H's instant change from quiet & distant to suddenly claimy & touchy with 21yo waitress h (after a customer asks her out) after 1 year of quietly showing up at whenever she'd work at the diner was abrupt & weird. It came out of nowhere, regardless of H feeling threatened now that some guy asked her out on a date. It didn't make sense why no other guy had asked attractive h out on a date or flirted with her since there weren't any other diners in town & their small town was frequented by tourists.
But the good thing was that h thought H's abrupt change was weird too and brought this up to H repeatedly. And she even kicked him on the balls @ 20% coz she got freaked out by his sudden romantic claims of her & his jealous possessiveness towards her. Now that was funny! But before his sudden claiming of her, the only thing he'd say to her for 1 whole year was his coffee & bear claw order. Nothing else.
20% of the book is too long to sustain such romantic awkwardness. It made both characters (especially H) seem off & their romance stilted. One chapter of this awkwardness would've been plenty. Or, at least, show H's POV as already having some romantic thoughts & jealous-possessive feelings towards h. Or even H having interest in getting to know h's person or life even in a secret way. Something other than his disinterest in knowing her aside from her work schedule & that she got home safely. I can see people DNF-ing this book by this time. Just like with The Spare - Part One, this book wasted pages with its long meandering intro to H&h's initial characters (since they end up changing later) and their H&h's romance.
Last 80%:
More focused writing. Better romance/rom dev/S chem/char dev/pacing. Average emotion. Liked h's character growth and how she became a mix of domestic/adventurous/spunky/simple. She may be a quiet homebody but she wasn't a doormat. She cared for her parents & opted out of school because she wanted to and not because she was obligated to. Same way she worked long hours as a diner waitress because she liked the work & not because she needed the money.
Liked that she called H on his OTT-ness (i.e., steamrolling through her resistances, jealous-possessiveness with other men, seducing her to change her mind) not because she didn't like it but because he changed so much & so abruptly. Liked that her questions were catalysts to make H verbalize his feelings & romantic-change process towards h. She didn't easily trust him, given his abrupt change with her. Yet she wasn't so resistant. It helped in building a believable HEA. It also helped make sense of H's OTT jealous-possessive alpha claim of her. So, he didn't just seem like a creepy middle-aged guy stalking a 21yo gal.
H's reasons for not making his romantic interest in h was weak. Their 22-year age gap wasn't even a major issue. He admitted to being attracted to her for the past year so didn't make sense why he didn't ask her out then. Just because she wasn't legally able to drink alcohol @ age 20 seemed like a weak excuse. I didn't like that he still continued casually smexxing available women while already stalking h for 1 year.
H became more likable too. He was big & quietly confident alpha leader as the eldest of 7 brothers. Loved how OTT he became with her, with his mantra of "no distance, no space". It was funny when he'd insist on no privacy even when she was peeing and she called him a weirdo for it. Some funny moments for sure. Liked his non-apologetic intensity with her because he was so into her like with no other woman. Loved that he was persistent in winning her over to move in & marry him and would chase after her, when she would try to get some distance from him. Yet he wasn't cruel in his pushiness and he would give her space, when she was serious about it. It was sweet when his feelings would be hurt by her minimizing their affair as just a hookup. Sexual chemistry was awkward at 1st but got better as they understood each other & realized their feelings for each other. Sex scenes were detailed/bareback/hot with 1st scene @ 50% (3 days after he tells her she's his). Enhanced by H's dirty talk.
Sexual History:
21yo virgin h had 1 BF in high school for a few months before her mom got sick. They made out a few times & went as far as 2nd base (boobs) but she got busy taking care of her mom & he broke up with her. She had no time for dating & opted to waitress at a local diner instead of attending college since she took care of her sick mom until her death last year. In the meantime, she fulfilled her romantic/sexual fantasies with H, whom she'd had a crush on since she was 13yo. She finally agreed to date someone else (an out-of-town customer) but H swooped in their date & told her date to leave.
H had 1 GF in high school but they broke up since he went o college. He only had hookups over the years since he wasn't interested enough in any woman he met. Most of his hookups since coming back to their small town were tourists. In the last year since he started secretly following h to & from work for her protection, he continued having sexual hookups mostly from women he met at bars his brothers frequented. His last sexual hookup was with 1 of the bar regulars a few weeks before he declared his intentions to h.

More focused writing. Better romance/rom dev/S chem/char dev/pacing. Average emotion. Liked h's character growth and how she became a mix of domestic/adventurous/spunky/simple. She may be a quiet homebody but she wasn't a doormat. She cared for her parents & opted out of school because she wanted to and not because she was obligated to. Same way she worked long hours as a diner waitress because she liked the work & not because she needed the money.
Liked that she called H on his OTT-ness (i.e., steamrolling through her resistances, jealous-possessiveness with other men, seducing her to change her mind) not because she didn't like it but because he changed so much & so abruptly. Liked that her questions were catalysts to make H verbalize his feelings & romantic-change process towards h. She didn't easily trust him, given his abrupt change with her. Yet she wasn't so resistant. It helped in building a believable HEA. It also helped make sense of H's OTT jealous-possessive alpha claim of her. So, he didn't just seem like a creepy middle-aged guy stalking a 21yo gal.
H's reasons for not making his romantic interest in h was weak. Their 22-year age gap wasn't even a major issue. He admitted to being attracted to her for the past year so didn't make sense why he didn't ask her out then. Just because she wasn't legally able to drink alcohol @ age 20 seemed like a weak excuse. I didn't like that he still continued casually smexxing available women while already stalking h for 1 year.
H became more likable too. He was big & quietly confident alpha leader as the eldest of 7 brothers. Loved how OTT he became with her, with his mantra of "no distance, no space". It was funny when he'd insist on no privacy even when she was peeing and she called him a weirdo for it. Some funny moments for sure. Liked his non-apologetic intensity with her because he was so into her like with no other woman. Loved that he was persistent in winning her over to move in & marry him and would chase after her, when she would try to get some distance from him. Yet he wasn't cruel in his pushiness and he would give her space, when she was serious about it. It was sweet when his feelings would be hurt by her minimizing their affair as just a hookup. Sexual chemistry was awkward at 1st but got better as they understood each other & realized their feelings for each other. Sex scenes were detailed/bareback/hot with 1st scene @ 50% (3 days after he tells her she's his). Enhanced by H's dirty talk.
Sexual History:
21yo virgin h had 1 BF in high school for a few months before her mom got sick. They made out a few times & went as far as 2nd base (boobs) but she got busy taking care of her mom & he broke up with her. She had no time for dating & opted to waitress at a local diner instead of attending college since she took care of her sick mom until her death last year. In the meantime, she fulfilled her romantic/sexual fantasies with H, whom she'd had a crush on since she was 13yo. She finally agreed to date someone else (an out-of-town customer) but H swooped in their date & told her date to leave.

This is the first time reading this author and I enjoyed it alot. Some parts made me go ugh lol but it was longish I thought at first it was a novella my ass was wrong 🤣

I wanted over the top, possessive, growly alpha, and I got it. Unfortunately, the girl was too insecure to make the age gap work. He just kept saying “jealous, possessive, asshole” and that does not a conversation make. Especially not when every single one of their conversations was the same as the one before it. And the writing wasn’t that great. And there was kink shaming. And she was worried people would think she was a freak because she liked getting spanked in bed? I couldn’t roll my eyes hard enough. And he called her a m*dget which isn’t good. Aaaaaand all of their conflicts could have been resolved better. But it was still the vibe that I wanted. Just not done well. Aaaaalso wasn’t a fan of the conflict with her brother. And it made no sense.

Confused yet?! Cuz I sure am! What in the ever loving hell?! I don’t understand!
Then Beau manages to charm her pants off (literally) but Bonnie just constantly complains about how “full on” he is. She complains about him being too into her and too attentive. She gets mad that he won’t leave her alone and won’t give her any space. But then she gets super insecure about their relationship and convinces herself that she’s just a fling and gets mad at him because of her own insecurities, despite the fact that Beau is telling her that he wants forever with her. He literally says “you’re everything to me” and she’s like “but what does that mean”?!?!?!🙄🙄🙄🙄 What do you mean, “what does that mean”?! How is that ambiguous?! Even at 88% into the book, after Beau asks her to move in with him and tells her he’s been waiting for her his whole life, she’s still like “I’m just not sure if he���s playing with me.” He was NOT sending out mixed signals. He was always open and upfront about how much he wanted her. She was creating problems where none existed. She was full of contradictions and was soooooooo immature! I just couldn’t! She was TSTL 🤬.
Despite the fact that I hated Bonnie, I liked everything else in this book. The sex scenes were steamy. I LOVED Beau! He was OTT possessive and jealous, but also super caring and sweet. To top it off, his dirty talk was off the charts hot 🥵. I also loved all of his brothers. I loved how close they all were. I loved the banter between them. If it wasn’t for Beau and the Barnett brothers this would have been a 2 star read.

(And his 6 brothers: Huck, Granger, Penn, Teddy, Bay, and Cody.) They're seven single sexy mountain men who live in a small town in Montana, in their childhood home - a big log cabin. They're also kind of cursed...
They get hit with "love at first sight" that turns that woman into THEIRS. Think fated mates, but this is 100% a contemporary small town setting, no magic anywhere. They just become ABSOLUTE CAVEMEN.
Beau is 43 and he's been waking up early for a year to make sure Bonnie (21 and living on the farm next to his famiy's home) gets to work okay. Oh, and going at night to make sure she closes up okay and drives home safe. Sweet, right? Except... they've never spoken. He just watches her. I loved everything about this one. But the stuff this man said to Bonnie

Oh god, Beau is an absolute caveman such a Neanderthal add in the age-gap and this was definitely my jam.
I enjoyed this it’s not an incredibly complicated story and it’s very instalove on Beau’s part but that was the main draw for me just how over the top this all was.
Beau is relentless he has Bonnie in his sights and there’s no escaping for her and even though she puts up some token resistance it’s obvious that she feels exactly the same way and is more than happy with his obsessive attention.
Beau is a steamroller he’s possessive obsessed a bit of a grumpy ass and a whole lot of crazy.
He switches from sweet to unreasonable grump on a turn he’s also all about his family which I did love and doesn’t seem to observe any boundaries when it comes to Bonnie.
Still I couldn’t help but like him despite the way he behaved he was actually quite sweet.
Bonnie well I wasn’t quite sure about her, she did annoy me at times for someone who’s supposedly lusted after our hero for years why so much resistance now.
She said one thing but then acted completely the opposite talk about mixed messages.
This was also red-hot in the heat department like supernova, I loved all the back and forth messages total cold shower moment.
It’s an age-gap romance and it’s a largish one Bonnie is 21 and Beau is 43 but it isn’t an angsty one and the age difference is hardly a blip to anyone, There’s also a lot of baby-girls in this one which I actually quite liked 🤷♀️
Overall I enjoyed this one it was an easy uncomplicated read.

Property of The Mountain Man was such a deliciously fun and over-the-top read! I loved it! Bonnie has had a crush on Beau for a long time but never acted on it because he is twice her age and she never thought Beau would go for someone like her. Every morning Beau comes to the coffee shop she works at and makes sure she gets home at the end of the evening. Beau never speaks more than a few words to her and the two of them have played this game for a year. When a man comes in and flirts with Bonnie, Beau FINALLY realizes that Bonnie is his and makes his play. And when I say play...I mean throw her over your shoulder and stomp away like a caveman play. Yummy...right?!
Bonnie isn't a meek little flower and makes Beau work for her respect, love, affection and trust. And boy did Beau pull out all the alpha punches. He is possessive, obsessive and dirty as hell and I loved every second of it. While the story isn't necessarily on the edge of your seat angst or anything, it is the perfect combination of steamy and sweet. I liked Bonnie but her constant reluctance to jump head first into seeing where their relationship could go got a little old. However, if she didn't do that I'm not sure there would be much of a story lol. If you like a super alpha who will do anything to keep his woman and a heroine that is feisty and cute then this story is for you! Can't wait for the brothers' stories!

It states in the beginning what the hero is, how possessive and manically cavemannish he is, yet I still went in because those qualities can be rrrreally attractive in some cases.
And while the heroine was strong and had her wits about herself most of the time (which I liked), the hero was not just an asshole, he was a walking fucking red flag. The manipulation he put the heroine through in the last part was too much of an abuser tactic for me to be comfortable with. She pushed back as much as she could but I wanted to smack that fucker in the face way too many times.
Additionally, what the heck was wrong with her father, acting the way he did?
LOL, and the hero used two condoms before her when having sex?! TWO CONDOMS at the same time? Google that shit, that's not how you practice safe sex, boys.
Some statistic for you. In a 316 pages book:
- "baby girl" was used 122 times;
- "no space, no distance" only 14 yet every time he said it even I felt suffocated.

I couldn't stand Bonnie. The age gap didn't bother me, but she was so immature. Her character was a total contradiction, and she was extremely annoying. Beau was over the top, but I didn't mind it so much. This book feels like it was written by a newbie. Nonexistent plot, and everything was all over the place. Also, a huge turnoff is a bunch of grown men over their 30s still living together. No matter how close they are, a woman wants a man who is independent and has his life together by the time he's their age.

This is a fun romance with a simple premise. Bonnie and Beau are cute for each other, and not just because of their alliterative names. Bonnie has had a crush on Beau forever, and Beau is a lot older than her, so he’s only noticed her for the last year. When he realized that she’s been closing the cafe she works at after dark every night, he started coming in a half hour before closing every night to make sure she wasn’t alone when she locked up. He’s quite grumpy and didn’t have a clue that he had feelings for her until she gets hit on by a swanky out of towner. Then, of course, his emotions come and smack him in the face. The plot isn’t particularly original, but I loved the writing style and the way that Bonnie tries to pretend that she hasn’t had a maddening crush on Beau since she was thirteen.
However, I was a little disappointed that the subplot with the brother kind of fizzled out. I suppose it’s realistic that Bonnie never repaired her relationship with her only sibling, and at least now she’s adopted six of Beau’s brothers! That said, I was hoping for something more to come out of that subplot.

Damn. This was so hot.
Beau is 100% an alphahole.
He’s exactly what he tells Bonnie he is. Possessive, unreasonable, and jealous.
And Bonnie fights him the entire way, not putting up with his bullshit for even a minute.
But in the end, she realizes she loves him and even though it annoys the shit out of her, she wouldn’t change him for anything.
There’s low drama, just some arguments between her and Beau and her and her brother.
The plot is simple, just the two of them trying to make their relationship work and grow.
The sex though.
The sex was hot and dirty and wonderfully plentiful.
I loved this.
Beau is exactly the type of man I love to read about.
And Bonnie is one of my favorite types of FMCs to read about. She’s hardworking, sweet, with a backbone of absolute steel.
This was so good.
I will definitely be reading more from this author. Starting with the other books in this series.
I loved all the Barnett boys, and I want to know about the girls who turn them into raging beasts like Beau is with Bonnie.

Tough intense alpha assholes are my jam and Beau is one of the most ultra OTT jealous possessive asshole with caveman tendencies I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Beau and Bonnie are perfect for each other. I just love this!!! Gemma Weir had me hooked when I read her warning at the beginning of this book. I said hell yeah!!! I would love to meet Beau! Bring it on and she did!!
Having only one sibling, I’m envious of Beau’s close knit relationship with his family of 6 brothers and can’t wait for the rest of his brothers to find the love of their lives!! My heart melts with how they immediately welcome Bonnie into their lives and when whoever is on lunch duty also packs lunch for Bonnie to take with her to work awww, I want a packed lunch too from the Barnett brothers!!
I’m so looking forward to the next book!! In the meantime I’ll go visit Echo, I can’t believe I haven’t read his story yet.

I came for the OTT and my favorite kink
↠ I've heard it gushed about how this book is breeding kink heaven and I know book 2 has BC tampering, but this book has the hero thinking he's a bit sad she's had a BC shot and that's it. That was a big let down.
↠ The OTT was there. Except, it didn't work? Why do some quote "possessive, unreasonable, jealous mother fuckers" work and other don't?
