This is Book 2 in ‘The Carters,New Generation’ series and can be read as a stand alone but obvs there is a big history that goes before this book with the characters etc

The book focus on Tommy Jnr and basically what happens when he is set up by someone, someone who should know better but greed has overcome his better judgement,Tommy and his girlfriend who is expecting their child have no idea what is about to happen………we follow Tommy as it happens and he starts to have to pay for something he hasn’t done and then when it is time for revenge and retribution who pays and why ( and how!! )

As always with this authors books it is a brutally honest and raw look at the lives of gangland families and as regulars of this and previous series’ will know no one but no one messes with the Carters, more fool them if they do

It is tense and exciting and as ever a good thrilling ride and the title of the book is exactly right

Roll on Book 3

Retribution is the explosive second book in The Carters series. It can read as a standalone, but as with all gangland reads there's a lot of backstory so you'll be missing out.

I found it to be a fast paced read that had me gripped from the opening paragraphs. It's gritty, tension fueled and it was great to catch up with the Carters and the goings on at the Cross Keys public house.

An enjoyable and highly entertaining read based on loyalties, lies and revenge.

Book 2 in a series I fell in love with from the very first page. It was great to see some of the characters again and meanwhile being able to follow how the young ones are being trained to follow in the footsteps of their uncles, fathers, grandfathers.

Gangland crime thrillers often have very short titles. I think that is very fetting and I guess it refers to the often very short fuses the characters have. The often only need one, in their opinion, wrong word or glance and they explode. In the beginning it might only be an explosion of words, but almost always it results in fights.

The characters believe in what is theirs should remain theirs and respect is very important. Some though try to get their hands on a piece of the pie too or they think they can outsmart the families. Needless to say, I suppose, it always ends in mayhem.

I love the hard exterior and they do have a strong sense of honor, but don't don't their family or you will find yourself in deep sh... Underneath their armor of steel, is a big heart hidden even though you might find this hard to believe.

This author knows ho to create the style of gangland crime I adore. 5 big shiny stars for this book.

Thank you

My turn on the Book Blog Tour. This is the 2nd book in the Carters: Next generation book series. Having read all of The Carters series previously, these next books smoothly carry on the story, of the younger people of the family. These two series tie in seamlessly and these series are one of my favo!! I love seeing some of the older characters entwining with members of the family.
I will never NOT read any of Kerry Kaya’s books. I love them!!

Retribution by Kerry kara is the 2nd book in ‘The Carters next generation series. But you can read it as a standalone as I have not read the first book.
Tommy Junor is the youngest of the Carter family and not fully up to the crime levels as the rest of the family. But when he finds out his girlfriend Aimee is Pregnant, he can’t wait to be a dad. But certain people are not happy of the couples forth coming events and Tommy gets stitched up and ends up in Prison.
His time in prison is a life changing one and when with help from his family he is released from jail. He wants to seek retribution to the person who did him wrong.
Wow the author yet again writes another fabulous gritty gangland drama that you get sucked in from the first page. It is a tense thriller that keeps you engages throughout. I loved the characters in this story and can’t wait to read more of this series. 5 stars from me.a

WoW.......All of Kerry's books I have read have been a great read and her latest one Retribution by Kerry Kaya was another excellent read and Yes The Carters are back! This is the 2nd book of the Carters: Next Generation and it was excellent.

Tommy Jr is one of the youngest members of the Carter family, and he dreams and has plans for one day step into his Uncle Jonny’s shoes as head of the family. But at the moment he has been set up for a crime that he did not commit. His lovely young girlfriend, Aimee, is pregnant and will be going through her pregnancy on her own!.
When, Tommy gets released from prison, and all he wants to do is find the person/s who stitched him up and make them pay for their actions.

WoW......Superb read. I loved it

This book can be read as a stand alone but, I do recommend you go back and read all these books about The Carters, they are 5 star read.

Big thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my ARC.

The Carters Next Generation Series #2

I have not read the first book in this series, but it did read well as a standalone, but I would have preferred to have read them in order. We follow Tommy jr who had been set up for a crime that he did not commit. His girlfriend, Aimee, is pregnant. When Tommy gets released from prison, he wants to find the person who stitched him up and make them pay for their actions.

The moment I started reading this book, I was hooked. This is a story of revenge that was being dished out by a family you wouldn't want to mess with. The characters are well-developed, it's tense, gripping and well-written. This is a really good gangland crime story.

The second installment of the Carter family saga is captivating from start to finish.
I loved everything about this book! It was great to see some familiar older characters while also being introduced to new members of the family.

The story revolves around Tommy Junior and his girlfriend, Aimee. Aimee's father, Kev, is a layabout who mistakenly believes he is important. After abandoning Aimee and her mother, he thinks it is right to involve himself with the Carters, but he is sorely mistaken.

This installment is filled with crime and gangland drama, showcasing graphic and gruesome violence as the Carters operate at the top of their game. However, someone seems intent on disrupting their lives.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar characters while meeting new faces in the family.

This is book 2 in The Carter's: Next Generation series and while it can be read as a standalone I recommend reading book 1 first to get a better idea of the background. The story follows Tommy Jr who is set up for a crime that he didn't commit and with his girlfriend being pregnant he has a lot going on. It was a exciting and adventurous tale filled with so much revenge. The gangland life is prominent and one thing you will learn is to never ever mess with the Carter's. I am already wondering what will happen next!

Having read DOWNFALL the 1st in the CARTER’S NEXT GENERATION SERIES, I went straight on to RETRIBUTION the 2nd book. This was just as good as the 1st. A fast and pacy thriller difficult to put down once you start it. The basic outline of the story without spoiling it is that Tommy Jnr is arrested and imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. As the family both search for the person who set him up and also trying to get him out of prison, the story takes you on a fast and exciting road.
This book is a must for all thriller readers.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A really good second instalment in the Carter/johnson clan series. Took me a while to get my head around the family tree and how everyone is related but that is my only critique of the book. A great read and will be interesting how the next instalment will play out. Roomy junior is a character to watch and fear.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review

Retribution is the second book in The Carters (Next Generation) series . It can be read as a standalone but personally I recommend reading the first book also. Right from the very start this book had me gripped and I just knew I would struggle to put it down. It’s a gripping and tense gangland crime thriller. Kerry Kaya is one of my favourite authors of this genre and once I start one of her books I am so caught up in the story that I forget about everything else around me as I’m just so engrossed in the story. This was certainly the case with Retribution.

It took me a few minutes to reacquaint myself with the characters but once I settled into the story, it kept my attention to the end and as usual the author doesn’t hold back from the grittiness of criminal life and how little value is given to life. It’s obvious where Tommy is headed but reading how he gets there is something to look forward to.

This was for me an OK read but the amount of times that the characters were either biting their thumb nail or chewing the inside of their mouths became extremely frustrating I appreciate other readers may view this as creating tension but there was hardly a mention where this did not occur or running hands across their faces.

Book 2 in The Carters New Generation series.
This time the main focus is on Tommy JR.one of the youngest of the family and as family loyalties, revenge and personal and moral dilemmas play out we see him grow in stature and find his place firmly within the family firm.
I love Kerry Kaya books her writing is strong, and the ability to capture tension and suspense within criminal life is 1st class.
CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 3
If you like your books gritty and dark, you can't go wrong with this author.
Highly recommended.

Another brilliant book from Kerry Kaya and book two in the new series. Tommy Jr is the main focus and although he is the youngest member of the family he is determined to step up when girlfriend Aimee announces that she’s pregnant. However Aimee’s dad Kevin Fox thinks that the Carter family owe him and when he is humiliated by them he sets out for revenge. Is taking on the Carter family a good idea though…… This is gritty gangland at its best and exactly what you expect from the author. Be prepared to be totally gripped from the first page that leaves nothing to the imagination when it comes to the violence, how the very believable characters are feeling but also the strong family connections. Can’t wait for book three to find out what’s next for the Carter’s!
