I read this to my dog because her name is Willow. She didn’t seem interested but I thought it was great. You really can get a boost of happiness and strength from doing something nice for someone else.
I’m a pretty shy person. I’m also an introvert. I like to stay in the comforts of my home (even pre-covid) and talk to people I already know. It takes time for me to open up, but once I do, I’m probably one of the most annoying people you’ll meet. Can you relate? 🙋🏽♀️
This story is about a rabbit, Willow, who lives inside a mailbox and doesn’t really like being outside, surrounded by all the noise. One day, Theo drops a letter in the box requesting that the moon shine bright for his mom’s birthday. Willow then decides to help Theo.
There are themes of: BEING BRAVE: Despite being scared, Willow goes outside her comfort zone in hopes to deliver this message to the moon. Channelling the positive vibes she gets from the comforts of her home, she is able to overcome her fears and worries that are clearly illustrated in the pictures.
OVERCOMING SHYNESS: Willow works with others to help Theo’s wish come true.
IMAGINATION: There are many creative scenes and whimsical characters in this story.
PERSEVERANCE: After brainstorming, attempting and failing several times, Willow does not give up.
Thank you @raincoastbooks for my gifted copy, all opinions are my own.
Willow is a very shy rabbit who lives in an abandoned mailbox. She's content to live away from all the noise of the world. But one day a letter falls through the mail slot, and Willow soon learns that it's a letter written by a small boy with a request for the moon. It's Willow that feels she must take action to relay the request to the moon, and, a bit reluctantly, she does.
A touching story of kindness and imagination and play that hints at the small happinesses that can come from daring to venture out into the world and do for others.
I love this book! It’s about bravery, being considerate, and going out of your way to help a stranger. The illustrations are pretty. The ones of the night sky are my favorites. I highly recommend this book to everyone everywhere. The world would be a better place if we were to act like Willow.

Wow. Beautiful message. Extraordinary artwork. Willow the rabbit completes a wondrous act of kindness. All readers should be inspired by her quiet bravery and determination.
5* voor de illustraties! De beelden op de schutbladen, titelpagina en achterflap maken het verhaal compleet. Heel mooi. En: fijn vertaald (die naam ook, Vliertje het konijntje.)
Willow is a shy bun who lives in an abandoned mailbox. One day a little boy sticks a letter in the mailbox - it's for the moon, asking if she can shine big and bright for his mom's birthday. Willow thinks it's sweet and decides to try and deliver it herself. To do so, she has to overcome her fears and a bunch of obstacles (such as one might face when trying to get to the moon from Earth and have a conversation with her). In the end she is successful and gains both confidence and new friends.
Readers will have to suspend their disbelief for this one! Willow manages to get to the moon by ripping up her sketchbook and gluing (?) the pages together to make a balloon (how does she inflate it?) which takes her to the moon (but she can breathe in space?) where the moon agrees to make a special appearance (holy tides, Batman!) for the little boy's mom's birthday. I mean, good job, Bun! Highly specious, but beautiful artwork.

A quiet, quirky tale about a rabbit who steps out of her comfort zone to help a young boy and finds a friend in the process.
When a young boy drops a letter to the moon in Willow's home (an abandoned mailbox), she tries several ways to deliver it to its addressee, the moon.
In her debut picture book, Min gives Willow the determination to dig deep into herself in order to overcome her shyness and help the boy, Theo. There is a softness to this story that is reflected in the candy-colored artwork, also by Min. It is intriguing to see Willow outlined in all illustrations with a pinkish-red color; it makes her pop off the page. Readers will gasp when Willow is in peril and jump for joy when she finds a friend.
A good one to pull out for shy readers looking for themselves or a way to "bust loose" or new friendships.
The illustrations in this gorgeous picture book are fantastic. It's the story of a shy rabbit named Willow, who lives in an abandoned mailbox. But one day, someone drops a letter for the moon. Willow knows that the only way for the moon to get the letter is if she delivers it herself, but that means leaving the safety of her mailbox home. It's such a sweet story for people who enjoy books about mail, the moon, and adventure.
Cat Min delights her readers with a shy rabbit needing to pull up courage from deep within in her desire to help someone in need. New experiences force her problem-solve and face her fears. Will she have success?
Read the story... find out. :)
An excellent book filled with excellent illustrations which provide plenty of talking points with children. Those ears sticking out of the mail box... EXCELLENT!
Willow is a sweet bunny who lives in an abandoned mailbox and is very, very shy. But one day, a letter is dropped into the mailbox that is a request for the moon and Willow realizes he's the only one that can deliver it. The story is a gentle reminder of how much good we can do when we are willing to leave our safe spots and venture into the world to help others. Cute story.
A cute story about a shy rabbit who lives in an abandoned mailbox. When Willow receives an unexpected letter from a boy wanting to surprise his mom with a gift, she takes it upon herself to try and fulfill it. I love the endpapers on this one.
Lovely, lovely story and gorgeous art. Willow is shy and a bit of a recluse. Now she has an impossible task - deliver a letter containing a birthday wish to the moon. Can she do it? Should she even try?
