This was another brick that I have successfully taken out of the proverbial wall that my TBR pile has become. I finally got around to reading the second book in the Sea of Red Series, Attack from Within
I had come across this excellent author, James A Bultema, through a Facebook group that I have had the fortune to be a part of for the last three years (Military Thriller Book Group), and eagerly devoured the first book in the series (Sea of Red). Bultema set the bar high with the first book in the series, and I had some questions as to how he was going to try to meet those standards.
With Attack from Within (the second book in the Sea of Red series), Bultema makes a valiant attempt at what must be a particularly hard genre to write, as terrorist thrillers are a hard genre to write in, but this one is superb. It takes you right into the heart of terrorism, into the training camps in Iran and the gangs that roam the world, waiting for orders to carry out their attacks. This is an action-packed tale that you won't put down once you start reading (I finished it in three days).
This book represents a thrilling sequel where the symbol of American freedom is the target for a ruthless cabal of Iran-backed Hezbollah operatives inside the U.S. Iran is planning to retaliate against the US for wiping out their best terrorists, and they'll do it from within – utilizing a Lebanese-American street gang and American Hezbollah operatives make a potentially catastrophic combination.
From page one, Mr. Bultema grabs your attention and never lets go throughout this wonderful book. Full of action-packed scenes and expert counterintelligence, we see seasoned FBI agents and solid characters taken from Sea of Red, engage in a coordinated effort to stop a terrorist attack on one of America's greatest freedom symbols (the Liberty Bell in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA).
On my self-annointed five-star scale, this is one of those books that I believe is worthy of the vaunted five stars, as I found that Attack From Within is a piece of fiction that will captivate readers from all genres, thanks to the many themes that are interwoven between the pages, and can only be described as a read that should not be missed! If you are looking to read a book that will grasp your attention from the first page and hold it throughout, then I would implore you to definitely give the second book in this series a try. Readers of modern authors such as James Rosone, Nick Ryan, and Leo Barron would surely become quick fans of Bultema.
As with all my literary ramblings, these are just some of my five cents' worth.
