Finding Limits

Rate this book

Join these dark, dirty and corrupt cowboys on the Carson's ranch,
Where boundaries are pushed,
laws are broken and limits get tested.

I’m a man who values loyalty.
Years ago, when I took the Carson’s brand, I promised to always stand up when I was needed.
And I’ve never let them down.

When Jimmer Carson calls and asks for my help,
The lost, damaged girl he asks me to take back to Fork River and help heal isn’t the problem I was expecting.
Everleigh has been through the unthinkable.
The only communication she makes is through the screams in her nightmares.

I don’t know how to fix her.
But having her near seems to repair something inside of me that I never knew was broken.
She’s young and has her whole life ahead of her, all she has to do is fight her demons.

I’m too old to be her future, but that doesn’t make it any easier not to fall in love with her.

Finding Limits is Mitch and Everleigh's story and can be read as a complete standalone or as part of the Corrupt Cowboys series.

Okay so I have to start with the cover, It is perfect and represents Mitch very well. It's so hot! I love it. I'm so happy we get to finally read this story, I was always interested in Mitch and Everleigh. Emma does such a great job of sucking you into the story with all the details and backstory. I love all the corrupted Cowboys books but this one is my favorite. It was a sad story but a beautiful one in the end. I enjoyed it very much.

I was really looking forward for this ever since Everleigh was rescued. The age difference doesn't bother me, although it may be a hinder to some. What I felt rushed was the way Evie went from being a recluse to a social butterfly. Anyhow, it was a really good book, and can't wait to read the next one.

4 ⭐ 3 🌶

I wasn't sure how to feel about this one since I never really pictured Mitch as more than a sweet old dude... But Everleigh really made me see the attractive side of him, he is such an amazing person and his bedroom skills had me flustered to say the least 😂

Everleigh's story broke my heart, right along side Hunter's story too. This book was really working at tugging on those heartstrings... But everything ends up so perfectly, if unexpected, and I really loved it.

I'm so excited to see what's next for the Carson Crew.

Favorite one of the series!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: age gap
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Finding limits Is my favorite book of the series And I totally didn't expect it! This one is low on the drama, but hang on tight, because it's high in the feels ❤. If big age gaps bother you, or you are a sensitive reader, this one may not be for you. Definitely on the darker and grittier side, but Everleigh and Mitch eventually find their time in the sun. Wonderful read!

Oh I absolutely love it!
I love how gentle, sweet and attentive mitch is with those he loves but can snap back into a deadly force when needed.
Everleighs trauma is holding her hostage and Mitch has made peace with the fact that he's ok on his own.
I knew I was going to love this book but my God I wasn't prepared for how much, I've loved everyone of the corrupt cowboys but I think Mitch and Everleigh are my favorite.
I could seriously gush about this book all day but I won't spoil it..go read it, just check out the triggers if you have any before you do.

Mitch and Evys story was soooo good. If you haven’t had a chance to read the Corrupt Cowboys….do so now! Seriously it’s dark, twisted, edgy and I can’t get enough of it!

I've loved being in the world of the hot alpha Carson Cowboys but getting Mitch story was just the perfect ending!
Mitch has had such a huge part in the journey of these guys growing up and for him to get his hea was beautiful.
Everleigh has been through so much hurt and trauma, when she's sent to live in the peaceful countryside to recover she could never imagine speaking to anyone never mind falling for them.
To see her start to let people in again was lovely and to see Mitch get all her ever wanted but never knew he wanted was fantastic.
Add in meeting Hunter alongside all the other crazy drama was great!

She doesn’t want to come with me, she doesn’t understand that all this is for her own good. And why should she?

Five long brutal, dark and unforgiving years, Everleigh was submitted to a deadly fate because of her sister. Forced to bleed her sister’s sins, punished in replacement for her escape, Everleigh barely survived until the Dirty Souls arrived.

However, living within the closed off cult and after being tortured for soo long has left Everleigh jumping at her own shadow. The world has been opened up to her and is almost too much for her to bear while dealing with her own trauma.

Luckily Jimmy Carson could see the dim light behind her eyes and knew the one place would be best for her to recover and the man who could help heal her broken soul.

“Nothing around here is ever simple, and nothing great comes without taking a little risk.”

Mitch is a legend, a strong man and knows just about everything there is on the Carson ranch in Fork River. He’s watched the Carson brothers grow and helped to guide them into the men that they are today. Mitch’s life however is about to take a different trail that’s about to become a long unpredictable uphill trek and all for a girl he doesn’t know how to help.

Mitch knows that he will have to take his time to earn Everleigh trust, to learn and be patient as she now adapts to living here with him. It won’t be easy, but as time flows so does their connection as they start to see each other differently.

Everleigh is slow to open up to anyone, to even mention her past and see that she can create a safe place as she starts to grow. Her chains may be free but the chill is still hard for her to escape with nightmares each night.

“There’s a strong woman insida you, she’s the only one who can free herself.”

Both will have to find the confidence to finally believe that they can have happiness and will have to take a leap of fate…before everything is ripped away from them.

“Mitch…What if my home is here with you?”

A beautiful heartbreaking and tender loving story for Mitch & Everleigh.

You don’t need to read the previous books but, it does help knowing the world & the characters mentioned. Mitch has always been that solid figurehead and having his story has opened up the character even more now.

I knew this was going to be emotional with Everleigh, having her go to the Carson ranch was the best move by Jimmy and having someone like Mitch take her under his wing really did help her. Everleigh has a very damaging abusive past, you slowly take her journey from the past and feel her pain that she has endured.

Emma has always written scenes like this with soo much care and thoughtfulness for each of her characters, this is no different as she expressives the characters POV plus the reactions of those involved within the scene. Of course, on the flip side Emma is also able to create some laugh out loud scenes, some you know are coming and can’t help but settle down to await the events that happen.

Mitch & Everleigh are different with their ages, experiences in life and have to overcome the fear that could hold them back from even thinking of the other in a new light. But against all odds, this couple come together and create a strong bond of love.

It’s not just the Carson men who are prepared to do whatever it takes…

Mitch and Everleigh will have you swooning!

If you’re familiar with the Corrupt Cowboys series by Emma Creed, then you are, without a doubt, familiar with our resident “father figure”, Mitch. He has proven his loyalty over and over again, along with his love for the Carson brothers, having been directly involved with their upbringing.

That said, when Jimmer Carson, from Colorado, calls Mitch for a favor, he doesn’t expect what he finds. Everleigh, the sister of one of the new “old ladies” at the Dirty Soul compound in Colorado, has been rescued from a cult. She is petrified, having experienced all the negativity that one can experience being a “wife” to an “elder” who has no use for women, except for them to play one role…as you can imagine.

That said, as you read on, you will find out exactly how awful Everleigh’s life had been till now. When Mitch meets her, she’s extremely skittish and has extreme difficulty with any kind of human touch- nor does she want to communicate at all. Please make no mistake, though timid, Everleigh is by no means, weak. Her strength and courage are shown through her thoughts, her actions, and the decisions that she makes throughout the story. That said, Mitch, though sometimes gruff and overbearing with the men on the ranch, takes this opportunity to show his other side…and I surely was not disappointed!

Once Mitch brings Everleigh back to the Carson ranch, to one of the remote cabins, Everleigh now has a chance to heal. But will Mitch be able to bring her around again? But of course, this wouldn’t be an Emma Creed book if there weren’t secrets and twists and turns every step of the way. But I’ll leave those for you to find out yourself.

This story isn’t simply a story about revenge. There is plenty of that, but there is also heartbreak (I was brought to tears. Not gonna lie.), anger, love, and even some redemption. We are surrounded by the characters that we know and love, and see the important part that they play in Everleigh’s healing.

I have to say, this was probably my favorite story so far of the Corrupt Cowboys- and that’s saying something. I highly recommend this story- just make sure you have some tissues and chocolates with you!

These cowboys you do not want on your radar or on their bad side yep, they have one they are gentle beast re-read the beast part 😊so hang on get comfortable because you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Mitch is sexy as all get out cowboy who is gentle when needed the sweetest man extremely attentive his eyes miss nothing, he might not say nothing, but he didn’t miss it but don’t get it twisted if you push the right buttons and put in the right combinations you get the beast nothing nice to say the least. Everleigh is sweet she makes you want to reach in giving her a huge hug telling her it will all work out she will find the fire within after enduring years of torture in place of her sister at the hands of a cult despite being free physically she has to learn that only she can free herself mentally and emotionally learning to use the support team but to learn to trust again. These two didn’t start out with the intention of being together yet the pull was there from the moment he was asked to help her that protectiveness was brought out knowing all she has been through woke the beast showing her that it was okay to trust again, it was okay to live again drawing them closer the more they fought the pull the stronger it grew between them but will she learn to be okay within her own skin, will he help show her that it is okay to trust, it is okay to live, will he show her that she is loveable, she did nothing wrong, and can he help her find peace and they happiness?

Who doesn’t like a dirty, dark cowboy romance? I love them. I’ve been anxiously awaiting Mitch’s story since we first met him at the beginning of the series. He’s a sad character…but also so tough, stalwart, and mysterious. I’ve always wanted to know more about him and I desperately wanted him to have a happy ending. That didn’t seem possible after a loss at the end of the last trilogy (not going to ruin it for anyone but go read the other books), but he definitely gets a wonderful HEA in this book.
Everleigh is one of the most broken FMC I’ve read in a long time. She’s the younger sister of Addison (from Broken Soul) and she went through hell for many years. I won’t spoil the other book or what has happened but it’s horrific. She won’t let anyone touch her, she can’t handle being around many people, she barely leaves a basement for months. Mitch is charged with taking her back to the camp cabin at the Ranch and hoping she can recover to some degree.
Obviously lots happens and it’s heartbreaking and a beautiful story. I love this Ranch and Cowboy series so I’m looking forward to more. However, I’m hoping that we can get more heroines that haven’t been trafficked, SA, gRaped, or harmed in this way. While I know it’s an important topic, parts of this book felt a little too similar to Lydia and Riley from other books. I did cry during some parts. Please check triggers as some elements may be too much for some readers.

Age ain’t nothing but a number, that is at least once both parties are over the age of consent. Nothing to worry about with these two, because both Everleigh and Mitch are over the age of consent. The problem is Mitch getting in his own way. Everleigh has been around for several books, starting with the Dirty Souls series. I’m so glad we get to finally know her whole story and boy was I incomplete in thinking I KNEW what she’d gone through! This girl has suffered unimaginable horrors, especially since her daddy could have prevented most, if not all, of them had he’d been man enough to stand up for her. I digress, though. It’s no wonder she doesn’t talk or trust very easily. Poor Mitch appears to be out of his depth with her, be in reality he’s just what she needs. It was so sweet to see how he treats her and how he’s always thinking about her well-being. It was downright inspirational to see Everleigh come out of her shell and reach out and hang on to Mitch to aid in her recovery. Another bonus with this book is that we get to see some of the old gang again (Garrett and Maisie, Wade and Leia, Cole and Savannah, even Tate and Finn and the River Boys). The Prez was even mentioned a bit throughout, so it was almost like a mini reunion of sorts. This was a very good and heartwarming story and you’ll be upset if you miss reading this one!

This is my first foray into the Corrupt Cowboys universe, and I’m totally hooked. When Mitch is asked to do Jimmer Carson a favor, the last thing he expected was the frightened, broken woman hiding in the basement at the Dirty Soul compound. Rescued from a cult, you slowly learn some of the things Everleigh suffered at the hands of the cult leader and his son. Some of the most graphic stuff is fortunately fade to black, but there’s enough detail to make you cringe, so be aware of your triggers! Asked to take Everleigh back to the Carson ranch to heal, Everleigh latches on to Mitch as her anchor in a sea of confusing changes. A remote cabin on the property becomes their new home as she slowly comes to realize she’s finally free. I absolutely adored Mitch as he patiently looked after Everleigh, her tentative smiles his greatest reward. While she initially flinches at every noise and hardly ever speaks, Everleigh is ultimately a survivor, and though she has access to therapy, it’s through her own grit and determination that she fights to overcome the trauma of her past. Of course, the path is not all smooth sailing and there are still trials to be faced along the way, but with Mitch by her side, she finds the strength to reach for a future she never thought she’d have.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

Wow! I need more. Finding Limits is finally Mitch and Everleigh's story. Mitch is the foreman of the Carson Ranch and an old buddy of Jimmer Carson. Jimmer(Prez of the Dirty Souls) asked him to watch over Everleigh and help her heal. She had been locked in a bunker and abused by a fanatical cult. Everleigh was given punishment for her sister, Addison who escaped. Addison is a Dirty Soul's old lady.

I am a huge fan of the Dirty Souls. Now these cowboys have captured my heart. Mitch fears he is too old for Everleigh and Everleigh wonders if she is too broken. Add in a new ranch hand that has major connections to the town as well as a new Mason who is just as evil as her brother.

Watching Mitch change from this gruff old man into a caring man who realizes he needs to take the chances life has given him. All the Carson brothers, wives/girlfriends along with the kids are around for the story. The men do whatever it takes and we have learned the women do too.

The story ends happily ever after but I am anxiously awaiting the River Boys stories. Emma Creed writes the best well rounded characters within a world I want to visit.

I love this series and was so happy to know Mitch would get his story. He’s been the backbone for the Carson boys and deserves a chance at happiness with someone special.

It’s so interesting to read about new characters and their effect on established characters, but 🤐 no more information from me! I love visiting the Carson Ranch again; that’s what it feels like. Hearing what’s happening with Garrett and Maisie, Cole and Savannah, Wade and Leia is such a delight. I will say… Maisie, you rock!

Poor Everleigh was introduced before, and reading the Dirty Souls MC series explained some of what went on in her life. However, it’s in this book that we find out the actual atrocities she suffered. I’m so gobsmacked by how carefully and well this author wove these details into the story without it being as disturbing as I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, it’s abominable, but it doesn’t take over the storyline. It enhances it while the present time takes precedence, as it should.

This story has so much action and drama—some good, some not so good! The suspense element is truly outstanding. It's another absolutely brilliant story that deserves more than five stars!

Emma Creed is back with another visit with her corrupt cowboys and this was certainly worth the wait.
Mitch has been a guiding force in the lives of the Carson brothers and it was a pleasure to read more about him.
We first meet Everleigh in the Dirty Souls MC series and she was dreadfully traumatised after years of abuse at the hands of those who should have been her support system. While she is recovering Mitch stands guard over her and soon we learn that her abuse was so much more than we first thought.

Soon, trust grows between these two, and from that trust affection, passion and more grows.

But before two long both their pasts come a visiting, some of it welcome but much not. Will Everleigh find the strength to recover, will Mitch find the courage to put his heart on the line?

This book answers these questions and allows us to see what's happening n with the Carsons be and the Masons and we meet new characters too.

I laughed, raged and cried reading this. Emma Creed has the ability to rip your heart out and put it back together again, but different. Once more these characters in these pages will stay with me. Loved this book.

Corrupt Cowboys has become one of my most favorite cowboys series. I was absolutely thrilled to finally see Mitch get a book. I love a big age gap romance, & Mitch & Everleigh definitely have that!
Everleigh’s story is dark & tragic, but watching her slowly transform f/a broken shell of a woman into a beautiful, confident, & brave woman was the best thing, & seeing how Mitch cared for her & his patience w/her was incredibly sweet. I really loved their relationship & how it progressed. I couldn’t have been more happier than when Everleigh learned she was pregnant! She truly deserved it, & I loved that Mitch was getting to be a dad! They were 2 people who definitely deserved a HEA, & definitely found the perfect partner in each other.
Even w/the darkness & tragedy in the book, Emma delivered some really great humor. I had to laugh when Mitch confronted Cole about the books Everleigh was reading & then later when Garrett married them & was just winging the words, while his bible was open to the last supper!
I was surprised w/everything surrounding Hunter & I’m anxious to see if he gets a story! I don’t want to see this series end!

What I liked- Wow, this book was a lot, but it was so good. I liked watching Everleigh overcome her fears. I liked the love story. I liked the surprise pregnancy. Emma is bloody brilliant as always. The next installment of the Corrupt Cowboys delivers it was a page turner from page one. Corrupt Cowboy and Dirty Soul fans have been waiting on this book it can be read as a standalone but you will better understand the characters and storyline if you read in order. So go download the previous books now. Okay back to the review! Lol. Mitch is finally going to get the HEA he never knew he needed in the broken girl he brings to the ranch to heal. He has been the one who has raised the Carson boys and made the ranch what it is and now its time for him to fall in love. Everleigh has been through he'll and is trying to fight her way back from the brink of darkness and the gruff man who is charged with her care may be what she needs yo put that behind her and fight. As we know the road to love for these men and woman isn't any easy one, secrets will be revealed and danger is always lurking. Be ready to fall in love with this silver fox cowboy.

A tender, loving relationship that starts out as a rescue. Mitch is called on to take a young woman, Everleigh under his protection. She belonged to a cult and has been abused, used and treated appallingly. Her nightmares cut Mitch to the core and his promise to keep her safe urges him to take the necessary steps to do whatever it takes. Everleigh, despite her trauma, has no fear of the older man, whose presence brings her calmness and the base for her healing.
Mitch is scared and nervous about his feelings. Everleigh also has feelings and her behaviour, whilst surprising, brings things out into the open on both sides. Feelings are returned and peace settles over them.
There is a lot of pain and heartache. Patience and kindness provides the balm to fear and uncertainty. Trust is formed and love is deep in this older man and younger woman relationship.

Where do I start? All the way through the Corrupt Cowboys series,I've always been intrigued about Mitch, the stern, kind, incrediblean that everyone can rely on,who has had his fair share of hurt and heartache,I was so happy that we finally got his story.
When he was asked to do something as a favour,he never thought that that would be the start of the rest of his life.
Everleigh has been through a world of pain,a world of nightmares,a world of blackness, her head was full of dark thoughts, she thought that she couldn't have a single thing,a good life, people around her,her own plans, absolutely nothing, but gradually the gruff cowboy burst through her walls little by little. Their journey was beyond beautiful to read, and every page was written with heart and soul, and as soon as I finished,I wanted to go right back to the start. Incredible!!!

A wonderfully written story of Mitch and Everleigh's beginning. It had all the characters from Corrupt Cowboys series, Mitch was called by the Carson Brothers uncle to do a favor for him by taking in this abused woman, Everleigh. He moved her from Colorado to Copper Mountain, where she needed to be isolated for a while. He was old enough to be her father, but he still felt an attraction for her. She felt safe with him, and she knew it felt right being close to him. What she felt for him was different than how she had felt for the abusers from the village. She only had to convince him of her attraction to him. A fabulously entertaining book that you will not want to miss as it contains plenty of surprises.

OMG! My favourite cowboys are back. We met Mitch in all of the previous Corrupt Cowboys tales and we got a hint at his story . Here we get so much more back story, the reason he is caring for Everleigh (cause Jimmer asked him!). We also get Everleighs story through her journal, warning you will need a strong stomach!
This is a beautiful story, tortured at times and will bring you to tears. Loved how Mitch fell in love and softened. Love that we get more of my Carson boys. I’m keeping everything crossed that some of the new characters introduced mean my favourite cowboys have more tales to tell (I can beg, I’m not ashamed of grovelling). Once you start this book, you will not put it down til the end, I promise you.

This was one book I was dying to read!! Mitch has been one of my favorites through all the Carson's books and I couldn't wait to read his and Everleigh's story. Her story is heartbreaking, and you'll need tissues to get through some of it. I loved the patience and compassion he has while taking care of her and how she really starts to come into her own as she realizes the world isn't as she was taught.

Emma always knows how to pull me into a story and hook me so completely that I end up bingeing the book from beginning to end. If you haven't read her Corrupt Cowboys or her Dirty Souls, you absolutely need to! I love the connection between the cowboys and the MC, and this ever expanding world she's created!

When Jimmer contacted him for help, there was no way Mitch was going to turn him down. He wants him to take this broken girl back to Fork River, thinking that would be the place for her to heal. Everleigh was punished by the cult for her sister Addison’s leaving (Broken Soul). What they did to her plays out in her dreams night after night.

This is not for the faint of heart due to what was done to her in the one place she should have been protected. A heartbreaking story due to what she went thru, you will need tissues. She latches on to Mitch but be believes he is too old for her, but he is the one she trusts the most. Just like the other cowboys on the ranch, he thinks he knows what is best for her better than she does.

First book I've read by Emma, and it mostly definitely won't be my last! This was fantastic 👏

The way it was written for the past trauma Everleigh went through and learning about the real world was phenomenal. Being a shorter book, I worried it was going to miss those details, but it really didn't!

“𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘺𝘦𝘴, 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯’,”
"𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬.”

Mitch was one hot cowboy. The way he protected Evie from anything and went at her pace through her trauma was beautiful ♥️

With both MCs being perfect together along with the side characters within this book. I truly couldn't put it down and can't wait to read more 🖤

Mitch and Everleigh's story is epic. With every book this author writes I say its the best book and then the next book comes out and then I say the same thing about that one. I don't know how she does it, but she is one h*ll of a storyteller. Everleigh has had a horrific past that only nightmares are made up of. She has been beaten, abused, mentally and physically and so much more and now she is trying how to live. Mitch never has seen himself as a white knight but when Jimmer calls asking a favour he is all in. Mitch will go above and beyond to help Everleigh but will it be enough to save her from her past. This is a gut wrenching, heartbreaking, loving story that you will feel all of those emotions. Let me say they do get their happy ending and boy its awesome but it is a journey so saddle up and enjoy the ride. I absolutely recommend this book, it is phenomenal.

Who ever thought that we'd get a story for Mitch? Not me that's for sure!

I mean, there comes a time in every woman's life (I'm sure) where a sexy silver fox is just what the doctor ordered... I present Mitch!

A rough, tough cowboy who has, throughout the series, often been the voice of reason, now has a slightly different perspective on life.

Everleigh becomes his everything despite his reluctance in 'going there' with her.

He is her protector, her cheerleader, her dream come true.

It's been an absolute delight (despite Everleigh's horrific past) to read such a 'gentle' cowboy romance, where the only thing being wrangled are the cows.

An amazing addition to the Corrupt Cowboys series!

Everleigh has just been rescued from the village after suffering unspeakable horrors from the Elder Abraham and his son Solomon. She has been sent to the ranch to be cared for til she is ready to go into public and Mitch is the one person she feels safe with and he agrees to stay in the cabin. She has nightmares but soon she gets attached to Mitch but she is young enough to be his daughter. This book has many things going on but it keeps you reading to find out who if Everleigh and Mitch will have a future together.
