The system of Cherque has lived under siege for eight centuries.
Any ship wanting to go to or from Cherque must traverse around the tumultuous storms of the Cherqui Ranges. The only problem? Any ship taking that route risks coming under attack from the ruthless, cyborg Marfikians. Cherque itself is barricaded in a fortress of system defences. Until, one day, miraculously, a tunnel appears through the Ranges.
This is the story of a five-planet odyssey in which Alex von Strada and Fourth Fleet Irregulars contend with rambunctious scientists, a planet-wide party, Marfikian attack, exodiplomacy and the future of humanity.
I am a primary school teacher living in Cardiff, Wales, UK. I live in a tiny house full of books, animals, rocks and fossils.
I love travelling by myself because you get to meet more local people that way. My favourite trips so far have been ice fishing in the arctic circle, the Canadian Rockies in winter and camping with my sister in Devon (Every bit as adventurous!)
I have been writing stories since I was a kid but have only recently taken the plunge into publishing. I've also recently started a science fiction review site http://www.starshipsandaliens.com which is nearly as much fun as writing.
Please don’t let us have to wait too long for the next book
A very enjoyable read but I recommend new readers start at the beginning of the series. It’s worth the time and effort. For some reason I didn’t receive an alert when this book came out. Fortunately I check regularly, just in case. I was delighted to see this new book after a 4 year wait. It’s a long book, about 6 hours reading, but I finished it in one day thanks to finding it on a weekend. The book comes to a natural ending but it sets up the next book, and I want to read it. I just hope I don’t have to wait as long. Now, I want to re-read some of the previous books.
I not sure how to describe this book, a cosy space opera or a SciFi soap opera? Whatever it was, there were times when I enjoyed the story, but I also found myself skipping through sections hoping something was actually going to happen.
I enjoyed this book very much. In the 4 years since the last book, I have read the entries series at least 3 times. I actually started reading Mission Zero before seeing this new book. It was worth the wait. That said, I hope the next book is released soon.
