Na wer freut sich schon wieder auf meine Meinung zu diesem Buch? :D
Hiermit habe ich - und somit auch ihr - es ja zum Glück geschafft! Ich konnte es dann irgendwie doch nicht auf mir sitzen lassen, die Reihe einfach abzubrechen, nachdem ich mich ja durch Band 1 UND 2 durchgekämpft habe. Also habe ich ein paar längere Autofahrten genutzt um diesen letzten Band zu konsumieren.
Und wie bereits zu erwarten war konnte mich auch der finale Band nicht mehr überzeugen. Ich weiß echt nicht was das sollte, es passiert quasi NICHTS. Aber dennoch passiert irgendwie voll viel, da die Geschichte hier permanent zwischen den ganzen Perspektiven der nahezu unzähligen Pärchen springt. Das hätte man sich sparen können, denn es wurden einfach unnötig viele Themen (durchaus auch interessante!) angeschnitten, aber die Geschichte wurde diesen Themen einfach nicht gerecht. Dann hätte man es doch lieber wie bei der Again-Reihe machen können, wo jedes Pärchen ihr eigenes Buch bekam...
Die Dramen waren auch wieder an den Haaren herbeigezogen und aufgrund der Fülle an Themen auch einfach jedes mal viel zu schnell und zu vorhersehbar abgehandelt. Die Charaktere fand ich leider nach wie vor auch eher blass und unauthentisch. Am traurigsten finde ich, dass die Gefühle zwischen Ruby und James (und auch bei den anderen Pärchen) einfach null bei mir ankamen...
Der Schreibstil war gewohnt gut und das Buch hatte auch wieder unfreiwillig einen gewissen Unterhaltungswert für mich. Daher geb ich noch nett gemeinte 2 Sterne.
Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass mich diese Reihe leider von vorne bis hinten nicht von sich überzeugen konnte, obwohl ich die Again-Reihe der Autorin ganz gerne mag.

Für mich ist und bleibt diese Reihe einfach over hyped ...

Meiner Meinung nach ziehen sich die Bücher von Mona Kasten tatsächlich immer und bei dieser Reihe bin ich mit Ruby und James bis zum Schluss nicht warm geworden.
Diese „besondere“ Beziehung/Chemie zwischen den beiden erreichte mich einfach nicht und war dementsprechend nicht vorhanden.
Die beiden kamen bei mir auch nicht so erwachsen und reif an, wie sie wahrscheinlich dastehen sollten.

Wenn die ganze Reihe über Alistair gewesen wäre, hätte ich mich tierisch gefreut, aber was nicht ist das ist nicht ...

Ich muss ehrlich gesagt zugeben, dass ich mir über das Rating dieses Buches noch unsicher bin. (Es schwankt aber irgendwo zwischen 2-4 Sternen haha). Ich habe monatelang auf das Finale der Maxton Hall Reihe hingefiebert und obwohl Band 1 und 2 in meinen Augen noch lange nicht "PERFEKT" waren, habe ich sie trotz ihrer Fehler und Unschlüssigkeiten geliebt. Und das wollte ich bei "Save Us" auch unbedingt, aber letztendlich war es mir viel zu vorhersehbar und die Charaktere haben mich zwischendrin echt aufgeregt. (Insbesondere Ember huh)

Meiner Meinung nach hat sich das Buch sehr gezogen und ich bin bis zum Ende hin nicht wirklich mit Ruby & James warmgeworden. Meiner Meinung nach hatte jedes Pärchen aus Monat Büchern mehr Chemie als die beiden zusammen. Der Fakt der mich aber am meisten gestört hat war, dass man von Anfang an wusste (SPOILER FÜR BAND 1 & 2 INCOMING) wer die Bilder von Ruby geschossen hatte und jedes einzelne Problem erstmal total hochgepuscht und viel Drama drum gemacht wurde, aber letztendlich haben sich alle immer nach 2 Sätzen verziehen?! Besonders das Verhalten von Ruby's Mum war mir sehr suspekt, da sie sich am Ende von Band 2 ihrer Tochter einfach total unakzeptabel gegenüber verhalten hat, jedoch danach wieder sofort nett umgesprungen ist. Daran sieht man einfach nochmal, dass die Geschichte von Ruby & James einfach marketingtechnisch total in die Länge gezogen wurde, obwohl man sie viel früher hätte abhaken können.

Nichtsdestotrotz konnte ich das Buch innerhalb von wenigen Stunden lesen und da ich Mona's Schreibstil einfach liebe, habe ich ihr auch vieles wieder verziehen. Vor allen Dingen habe ich die britische Atmosphäre geliebt, da ich wieder totales Fernweh bekommen habe. Die Maxton Hall Reihe wird wohl niemals zu meinen liebsten Buchreihen gehören, aber ich sehe sie als "Guilty Pleasure", weswegen ich hier als offizielles Rating trotzdem noch 4 Sterne vergebe.

So many things happened in this book. There were so many POVs and constant moving to other scenes that the book felt longer than it was, but not in a bad way. Some things also felt a little bit rushed towards the very end but the way I could not stop reading... I had a great time. 

And, oh my god, Ruby and James' relationship development throughout the whole trilogy was everything, but it's clear how much they've matured in this book. The way they react to any problem or situation that gets in their way, how much they got each other, and how they care not only about their relationship but the ones they have with the rest of their loved ones was so beautiful to read about. They have earned a special place in my heart and made me consider returning to my YA romance era ―and it's been some years since I felt like that.

Was this series perfect? No, but I devoured it in a way that hasn't happened in a while. Was this book perfect? No, but it made me so happy and warm that I can't help but give it 5 stars. Now, I'll try to stop obsessing over this trilogy by getting through the other books on my tbr that I finally feel like reading now that I'm over my reading slump.

I'm generously giving this book three stars, even though it took me a long time to read this one. I loved the first book, but I don't feel the same way about this one.

This book wasn't bad, but I felt like the story was just dragging on and it got messy and boring.

Ruby and James's relationship was still going strong in this one, they learned to get through difficult times together and were there for each other. I still loved Ruby, loved how organised and strong she was at all times. She was still very goal-oriented and she didn't give up easily.

James finally grew a pair and stood up to his father. He finally stopped giving him power over his life and I've waited for three books for him to do that.

The thing that bothered me the most was the multiple POVs in this book. I got easily confused because so many different characters were telling their own stories that I wasn't even interested in or they weren't that important for the story and it felt like this was done just to fill the pages.

This story just wasn't what I really expected or wanted. It wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't that great, either.

This last novel of the Maxton Hall series was really great! It made me feel emotional, hopeful and lighthearted. This also gave me some really good laughs. It came with vivid descriptions and a diverse cast of characters. It was romantic, where the enemies turned into lovers. The characters were all lovable! I really enjoyed the dual points of views, the forced proximity and how the opposites attracted! This also came with redemption and trust, family pressure and social pressure intensity. I could really feel the chemistry between the two main characters. I was not fully immersed while reading this. However, the book was just really hard to put down! This romance also comes with a moderate spicy level and a wonderful ending! Overall, I rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars!

I think people that would enjoy this book would be a fan of the romance genre. Also, readers that have watched “Maxton Hall” on Amazon Prime would love to read this book! Content warnings include abuse, death, explicit sexual content and grief.

Save Us es el cierre de la historia de James y de Ruby.
¿O debería decir que es el cierre de la historia de James, Ruby, Graham, Lydia, Wren, Ember, Alistair, Kesh...?
Y a ver, entiendo que la autora haya querido darle algo (¿relleno?) a la historia con diferentes POV... Pero en verdad no entiendo la necesidad. Si me hubiese interesado en algo alguna de las otras parejas, entonces habría leído un libro acerca de ellos. A mí me interesaba la historia de Ruby y de James, no del resto, y siento que Save Us casi no trata de ellos.
Por otra parte, me molestó bastante que normalicen la relación entre Graham y Lydia. Por mínima que sea la diferencia de edad, odio los romances entre un profesor y su alumna.

Ganz ehrlich? Dieses ganze Buch war relativ unnötig... So viel wird einfach nur aufgebauscht und unnötig dramatisiert, dabei passiert gar nicht so viel! Jeder bekommt sein Happy End am Ende, egal wie unrealistisch das ist....
Man hätte alle drei Teile der Serie einfach in ein Buch stecken können und das wäre vielleicht besser geworden...

I've finally come to the end of the Maxton Hall series, and I feel very...weird that the series ended this way. There's honestly not much to say about this book in particular, but I'm disappointed that this book turned out the way that it did, considering the first two books were so much better, in my opinion.

I think that the biggest thing that made this less enjoyable for me compared to the first two books was the ever-changing POVs. If you've read the first two books, you know that the main characters, Ruby and James, have POVs, but by the second book, Lydia, James' twin sister, also gets a POV. By the time the third book rolls around, we have POVs from Graham, Ember, Lydia, Alistair, James, AND Ruby. The POVs would change constantly, sometimes in the middle of a chapter, across three different characters sometimes, and I felt a bit more detached and unable to lock into the story and continue reading at times. I would rather have fewer POVs and more developed characters and a more defined story arc that's well done and thought out than have a bunch of different POVs that bounce around so often that it's hard to connect with characters and feel invested in the story because you're trying to keep track of everyone's side plots.

Additionally, I feel like the ending was extremely rushed. Save Us is the shortest book in the entire trilogy, but I feel like it could've been at least 20-30 pages longer to develop the end a bit more. Like, seriously, considering how big a POS James and Lydia's dad is, I was looking forward to a lot more justice being served than what ended up actually happening in the story. Maybe I'm just masochistic and I just thrive on schadenfreude when it comes to horrible book characters, but I feel like Mortimer Beaufort needed a kick in his balls and a one-way ticket to fictional character hell for what he did throughout the series.

Of course, I have to leave a little section for James and Ruby, because I loved reading about them and getting to know them from the very first page of the story. James and Ruby brought out the best in each other, and I loved seeing them become each other's safe space when it felt like the world around them was crashing down. I'm honestly quite sad to see their story come to an end. In general though, I've come to love all of the characters and the found family dynamic that slowly but surely developed among all of them throughout the story. All of the characters come from different backgrounds, have different baggage, yet they all became friends and just...UGH I love a good found family trope.

When it comes to the series overall, I'd say it's a quick palate cleanser if you're in between heavy reads. It's a guilty pleasure series of mine now because the writing overall isn't anything groundbreaking, and the drama is a little over-the-top at times once you remember that all of these characters are still high schoolers (albeit seniors in high school who are about to graduate and head off to college, but still high schoolers nonetheless). However, all three books were easy reads, and I basically flew through the entire trilogy in less than 24 hours. (No, seriously, I read each book in about 2-3 hours, so it really was less than 24 hours total for the entire series).

Now if you excuse me, I'll be watching the TV series now🤭

Soeben habe ich „Save Us“ beendet und mir fehlen wirklich die Worte. Das ist der beste Teil der Reihe mir hat es an nichts gefehlt, es war Spannung da, es war liebe zu spüren. Es ist viel unvorhersehbares passiert und das Ende war ein Feuerwerk. Ich bin einfach nur begeistert. Mona Kasten hat mich mit einem weinenden und lächelnden Auge zurück gelassen und ich bin dankbar das ich nicht nur über Ruby und James, Lydia und Ember lesen durfte sondern auch andere neben Charaktere haben ihre Stimme in diesem Buch verlauten lassen und damit viele Emotionen in mir geweckt. Ich bin förmlich durch das Buch geflogen Seite für Seite und wollte nicht das es endet. Ich finde mit diesem Buch wurden natürlich Klischees wie liebes Mädchen kriegt den bösen jungen doch noch dazu weich zu werden verwendet aber auf eine herrlich frische Weise. Mit einer Menge an Girls power, LGBT und Mut ohne Ende. Ich hoffe es erreicht viele Herzen. Man kann und da nehme ich einen Teil aus Monas Danksagung, von James lernen das kein Traum zu Gros oder zu klein ist, von Ruby kann man lernen für dich einzustehen. Lydia kann Mut machen. Und um Mona zu zitieren: „und ich hoffe ihr schneidet euch alle eine Scheibe von Ember ab, denn ein bisschen mehr selbstliebe hat noch keinem geschadet“

⭐️ 3.5 ⭐️ From shattered dreams and hopeless desires, James and Ruby’s story has finally went from bud to bloom. Everything wrapped up the way I expected it to for all the couples in the books & justice has been served to those who stood in their way.

James and Ruby’s relationship was full of obstacles. These were two people who were on two opposite sides of societal ladder but were able to overcome the bumps and humps together. The emotional changes and growth was my most favorite aspect of this book. I loved how open they have become with each other and how supportive they were.

This book had a lot of POVs, but it worked because that gave us all the supportive information that we needed about all the side characters. I think multiples POVs added value to the story making it more wholesome than the first two books.

While this series is more on a teen/juvenile level, I think it chased great topics—first love, forever friends, found family, career aspirations, difficult decisions and challenging parenting. The point that I got from these books is to never stop chasing your dreams and aspirations. Be your better self. Be someone who you truly want to be. Never stop yourself from being a better version of yourself!

I can’t wait for this to come to screen next year! (And yes, this is an appropriate series for your young teens!)

First, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Berkley—I'm so honored you chose me to read the entire series as ARCs 💜

My overall rating for this series is 3.5 stars, and that’s mainly because, while I absolutely loved the first book—the plot, the pacing, the characters—everything started to go downhill from there.

I was excited for the second book and enjoyed seeing Graham 's and Lydia’s POVs, but by the third book… I just didn’t care anymore. I couldn’t connect with the POVs of Kesh, Alistair, Ember, or Wren—they felt unnecessary and slowed the pacing even more.

The one strong emotion I did feel was absolute hatred for James’s father (and honestly, if an author can make you feel that deeply, it says a lot about their writing). Mona is definitely a talented writer, but I felt the series was dragged out too long. It could have been a tightly written duology instead of a stretched-out trilogy.

Alors autant j’ai aimé les deux premiers tomes autant le dernier tome m’a un peu laissée froide. J’ai trouve beaucoup de redites j’ai trouvé que les relations entre les personnages étaient mal exploitées, j’avais l’impression que toutes les trames s’accéléraient et que l’autrice souhaitait conclure dans les plus brefs délais. Mais dans l’ensemble ça reste une trilogie plaisante à lire.

Diese Reihe wurde echt von Teil zu Teil schlechter. Irgendwie waren mir es zum Schluss zu viele Perspektiven, die zum Teil auch überflüssig bzw. uninteressant waren. Irgendwie kam mir alles sehr oberflächlich und vorhersehbar vor und manchmal wurden Kleinigkeiten überdramatisiert 🙄

Rubys Träume scheinen zerstört: Sie wurde suspendiert, Oxford würde sie nicht mehr nehmen und ausgerechnet James hat diese Bilder gemacht, die sie in ihr Verderben stürzen. Kennt sie ihn doch viel schlechter, als sie dachte?
James würde alles tun, damit Ruby glücklich ist. Gleichzeitig bedrängt ihn sein Vater, für die Firma da zu sein und seine Schwester Lydia hat ganz andere Probleme, denn ihr Geheimnis ist eigentlich keins mehr und auch ihre Welt fällt auseinander.
Jeder kämpft für sein Glück, während Ruby und James wieder um ihre Liebe kämpfen ...

Handlung und Schreibstil
Ich hatte ein ganz grundlegendes Problem mit diesem Buch: Es geht nicht mehr um Ruby und James. An sich klingt das nicht so schlimm, denn natürlich dürfen auch mal andere Charaktere zu Wort kommen, nur leider drängen diese das Hauptpaar vollkommen in den Hintergrund und wir haben drei weitere Pärchen, die sehr viel Platz in der Geschichte einnehmen. Sie werden im Klappentext mit keinem Wort erwähnt und waren auch in beiden Vorgängern nicht annährend so im Mittelpunkt, weswegen es mich hier dann so gestört hat, weil ich eben mehr über Ruby und James lesen wollte und überraschenderweise etwas ganz anderes bekam.
Ruby und James lösten ihre Probleme sehr schnell und taten im Hauptteil rein gar nichts, erst zum Ende hin kam bei ihnen wieder etwas Spannung auf, die auch wieder sofort vorbei war. Insgesamt plätschert die ganze Handlung vor sich hin, weil im Eiltempo so viele Liebesgeschichten durchlebt werden, mit Höhen und Tiefen und doch sehr knapp, weil ja dann sofort der nächste dran ist. Ich fand es nach den deutlich stärkeren Vorgängern sehr schade, dass dieser letzte Band durch zu viel mittelmäßig interessanten Inhalt so langweilig geworden ist.

Charaktere
Wir haben nur Paare, die wir vorher schon kannten, völlig neue Zusammensetzungen wären dann wirklich zu viel gewesen.
Bei Ruby und James kommt nur wenig Neues dazu. James findet langsam mehr Selbstvertrauen und wagt es mehr und mehr auf eigenen Beinen zu stehen, während Ruby noch um ihre Träume kämpft, wie sie das immer tut. Sie ist sehr freundlich zu allen und ihre Verzweiflung macht sie nicht fies oder so. James wirkt immer nachdenklich und bedrückt, weil er eine schwierige Zeit mit seiner Familie durchmacht und tut eigentlich nicht besonders viel. Das war es ja, was ich an diesem Buch so schade fand - bei Ruby und James verändert sich gefühlt nichts.

Dann sind da noch Lydia und Graham, deren Liebesgeschichte ich in diesem Buch eigentlich am besten fand, dafür aber schon wieder zu kurz. Sie spielten schon lange genug eine Rolle, um sich auch für ihr Happy End zu interessieren und mussten ja auch schon eine Menge durchmachen, sodass sie es auch wirklich verdient hätten.

Bei Wren und Ember sowie bei Kesh und Alistair hatte ich nicht so richtigen Zugang zu den Charakteren, weil sie bisher nicht so wichtig waren und mich dann etwas genervt haben, weil sie von der Haupthandlung ablenkten. Ihre Geschichten waren simpel gestrickt und konnten mich einfach nicht fesseln. Ember fühlt sich von ihrer Schwester ungerecht behandelt, ist unsicher wegen ihrer Figur und will dazugehören. Sie reagiert recht sensibel auf alles von Wren, der gerade sein Vermögen verloren hat und sich an seinem neuen Platz noch nicht ganz zurechtfindet. Kesh kann nicht zu seiner Sexualität stehen, womit Alistair nicht klarkommt, weil er richtig mit ihm zusammen sein möchte. Hier wurden interessante Themen angeschnitten, aber es wirkte einfach zu eilig, um mich ganz überzeugen zu können.

Fazit
Leider muss ich sagen, dass "Save Us" als Finale der Maxton-Hall-Trilogie der schwächste Band für mich war. Nebencharaktere drängten Ruby und James völlig in den Hintergrund, sodass die Spannung leider verloren ging und mich das Buch gar nicht mehr fesseln konnte.

Ich habe wirklich keine Ahnung, wie ich das Buch bewerten soll. Es war wirklich gut geschrieben aber WARUM mussten diese vielen Perspektiven sein? Die Geschichte von Ruby und James hätte im 3. Band von mir durchaus 4,5 Sterne bekommen. Aber diese ganzen, nicht abgeschlossenen Nebenhandlungen? Ich weiß nicht was ich von denen halten soll.
Das Ende hat mir gefallen, aber für mich war die Maxton Hall-Trilogie einfach nicht so gut wie die Again-Reihe.

Die Geschichte war wieder sehr unterhaltsam. Ich fand viele Szenen zwischen Ruby und James suuuuper schön, allerdings war mir der Plot insgesamt einfach etwas zu vorhersehbar. Zudem hätte mir ein geschlosseneres Ende, auch für die Nebencharaktere, besser gefallen.

Obwohl ich die erstwn beiden Bände wahnsinnig gut fand konnte mich der Abschluss dieser Trilogie leider nicht ganz überzeugen. Monas Schreibstil ist nach wie vor super, aber es ist mir zu wenig passiert und auch das grosse Finale war mir zu vorhersehbar und unspektakulär. Ich hatte ein bisschen das Gefühl, dass die Geschichte schon auserzählt war und vielleicht 2 Bände mit dafür etwas mehr Seiten besser gewesen wären, denn so kam im dritten Band leider kaum Spannung auf.

Gran cierre de trilogía porque va todo encaminado a la apoteosis final!!! Mi preferido de los tres ha sido el primero pero ir viendo todo el último año de Ruby y James ha sido genial, ha dado tiempo a desarrollar cada trama y emoción de cada uno, en pareja y con respecto a muchas más cosas: familia, expectativas, sueños, decisiones ...

Mí humilde opinión:

En el libro anterior, Ruby es echada de Maxton Hall por unas fotos comprometedoras con un profesor.

James ha tomado esas fotos antes de conocerla y pronto descubre que puede destruir el futuro de su novia indirectamente. Porque de nuevo, su padre quiere alejarlo de lo que ama.

Esta vez James toma la decisión que siempre quiso, enfrenta a su padre y deja no solo la empresa sino su casa. Sin embargo, su padre aún no tiene la última palabra y si tiene que volver a Beaufort será para proteger a quien más ama.



En ese último libro, Ruby y James vuelven a enfrentar situaciones que los quieren separar pero lucharán para mantenerse juntos.

Save Us me gustó por partes, hubo momentos que me hicieron suspirar, reír y otros que odie.



Lo que más me gustó fue que todos los personajes del libro evolucionaron en grande y resolvieron sus historias; Lydia y Graham, el profesor. Alistair y Kesh, Ember y Wren, Lin y Cyril. En mi opinión tuvieron en cierta manera sus cierres justos.

También me gustó la lealtad en la amistad que se puede vislumbrar en este libro porque yo pensaba que James estaba con su grupo de amigos porque eran del mismo palo, por decirlo de una manera, pero se aquí se nota su sincera amistad y lo entendí. En el primer libro los tildé de imbéciles que solo iban de fiesta y bebían, y en los dos últimos libros es como que se ven como son, el cambio que ellos hacen.

Me sorprendió el entendimiento y poder de perdón que tenían todos, incluyendo a Lydia cuando perdonó al final a Cyril.

También me sorprendió lo madura que era Ember y cómo se manejó con Wren, aunque me hubiera gustado saber cómo quedaron ellos al final.

Fue un alivio que los dramas y malos entendidos se terminaran para Ruby y James. Me gustó que tuvieran algo de paz y verlos juntos sin tensiones. Lo de las fotos se resolvió sin más y creo que era hora de que por fin Ruby creyera más en James.

No me esperé que el padre de James hiciera lo que hizo al final. Pero yo rezaba para que James tuviera una salida de su tirano padre.



No me esperé el secreto de Cordelia y aplaudí que Ophelia pusiera en su lugar a Mortimer. Que James y Lydia lo enfrentaran por fin.

Save Us fue un libro que hablaba sobre tomar tu vida en tus manos y hacer lo que sueñas. Vivir como quieres y hacer lo que te haga feliz. Fue sobre perdonar, aceptación, crecer, enfrentar tus miedos, amistad, amor y confianza.

Al final me dejó con una buena sensación, como que todos consiguieron un buen final.



Si bien el libro no me voló la cabeza, lo disfruté y creo que me llevo un pequeño recuerdo de la intensa y apasionada historia de amor de Ruby y James.

4.5 out of 5 stars! ⭐ I must say that Mona Kasten could never disappoint me, ever! I’m too big of a fan of hers for that. The fact that the author decided to add even more POV's made me love the novel even more and this gave the book such a special feel to it. I have to say that I am pretty sad to say goodbye to the Maxton Hall crew, as I came to love them dearly whilst reading the trilogy. Ember & Wren's story would have been an awesome spin-off, as well as Alistair & Kesh's story. The latter were such a great couple and I would've loved to hear more about how they came about, honestly though their connection was so unique, I bet their story would've been great. 👍🏻💥🧡

I don't really get why the book has gotten that many bad reviews as it really just was Mona Kasten sticking to her own voice and her own writing style. Even though some twists were pretty foreseeable it doesn't make it an unsatisfactory read whatsoever. The greatest thing about Mona Kasten's stories is that they are about so much more than only a simple plain love story. I loved the positive note the book ended on and the main message the author tried to convey in her book which was that of self-love & self-respect and of course I adored James’ message which basically said that you should never give up on your dreams, no matter who tries to keep you from doing so. 📚😍😍

Chego ao fim desta trilogia com a sensação de que gostei muito da história, principalmente da narrada nos dois primeiros volumes.
Também gostei deste último livro, apesar de ter achado que o final não foi fantástico e de cortar a respiração tal como eu tanto almejava.
Os vários POV, acerca dos quais já tinha lido por aqui, não me fizeram confusão, mas, mesmo assim, gostaria que a história não tivesse ido por aí.
Com o tempo, talvez seja capaz de me aventurar novamente num livro de Mona Kasten.

Can’t believe this series is finally over! This one picks up right from the final conflict in Book 2, so there will be very light Book 1/Book 2 couple spoilers in this review!

I adored the drama, new POVs, and the continuation of Ruby and James’s relationship. I also liked LydiaGraham and would have loved to see more of Wren and Ember. I know these were just meant to be side romances but I was surprisingly invested in them since the second book. Ruby and James were so good together in this, and I liked their chemistry more than the first two books. I liked how they worked through the new issues that came up in this book, though there were a few moments that were frustrating.

James’s father was so insufferable and I’ve got to give the author some credit for writing such an unlikeable character. I did appreciate the reconciliation of all the friendships in this and wanted to see more of AlistairKeshav’s story. The friend’s POVs were interesting and I feel like their characters had a lot of potential through their backstories.

My main gripe about this was how the ending and plot felt very rushed, especially with the storyline spread out over a trilogy. I did find the plot reveal surprising but I feel like it was introduced too late at that point. Because of that, it didn’t feel like the conclusion I wanted. I was left with wanting more closure and was also expecting more development from everyone.

These books aren’t perfect, of course. But this was still quite entertaining and very fun to read! I would definitely want to read more of this author’s works and I think there’s still a lot of potential. The writing is easy to understand and it was paced well. The elite academic setting, wealthy characters, and drama made this very bingeable.

The TV show is actually well adapted and done better in my opinion. I’m excited to see how everything else will be adapted on screen!
