New narrator but feels like new author starting over. Anyone reading the series doesn’t need the full recap when Jessie is talking with her counselor. We know about her dad. We know about her sick husband and all the people with vendettas against her. We know about brain surgery and being trapped underground. We know she’s taking care of Hannah and that Hannah has dealt with recovery and counseling but that Jessie has unresolved issues. Save the recap. Save the reviews and put new content in the book. The narrator at one point says “inputted” instead of input. I know it’s acceptable as past tense but not common. At one point, the narrator said Calvary instead of cavalry. That made me laugh. Well, all in all, the end of book was definitely a cliffhanger. Had Hannah remembered what she needed to tell Jesse., Things might have turned out differently.
Jessie returns to work whilst her husband continues at home convalescing. She is partnered with Susannah to work on a case where the victims are left naked and posed using expensive face masks. She continues to feel the urge to inflict pain and kill those who have hurt her or her loved ones and of those there is plenty. The case is a tough one as there are no leads until they find who sold and who bought the masks. Will Jessie be able to contain herself? How is Ryan dealing with his personal injuries and the problems Jessie is facing? How about Hannah and Kat? What will be the result of Ash's trial? Will she be able to convince the jury that she has lost her memory? The story has a good plot, but could be shorter if less repetition of all the characters previous life were made. It also needs better proofreading. I thank Ms. Pierce for this ARC.
Troubled LAPD profiler Jessie Hunt must crack a particularly difficult serial-killer case, in Blake Pierce's clever psychological thriller The Perfect Prey and work in a Silence of the Lambs-like scenario with a killer who wants to benefit from their exchanges.
Will she accept?
How will that affect her personal relationships and mental health?
There's a riveting ending to a dynamic, character-led plot full of twists, that you won't have seen coming, so why not grab a copy of The Perfect Prey, to see what comes next for Jessie Hunt!
I thought this story line was better than the last couple - up to the end. Hopefully not giving anything away: Really again - way too many times for this to happen!
here we go! The warnings were there but Hannah didn’t take heed and Jessie didn’t follow her gut. Kat is about to lose her mind!! Ash has escaped smh! Listened via audiobook.
