A powerful collection of poems. They tend to read like spoken word poems. I recommend reading them out loud. Many cover social justice issues as they relate to Black people, especially Black women and men.
Favorite poems: "a saturday night", "the way she's always paying for a debt she never owed", "every nigga is a scar", "was it good for you/like blood on dry ground", "i call you sis because you my sista"
