****WARNING SPOILERS***

I was going to give this 1 star, but bumped it up to two because there were a couple funny one liners in this book. This was actually very painful for me to read. The entire book is written in the 1st person, so Elle the main character just talks about herself and her life the entire book. This type of writing style is fine when it is done well, but for this book it was just done wrong. Sometimes Elle just went on and on for pages talking about her situation, and it was just really boring most of the time.

There were also just too many characters introduced in the book. Blake, Elle's roommate and friend popped in and out a lot, but there was really no building of that relationship. She had a female friend Freddie, who made a couple appearances other than the fact the Elle crashed on her couch for a few weeks she was really irrelevant. Cameron who Elle became his publicist again after being fired from her job popped in and out. I thought there would have been more interaction between these two, but sadly there just wasn't. And finally Diego, the big missing piece of the puzzle. We heard from him in the beginning of the book when he was on the run, and then nothing until the last 20 pages. His return was just so anticlimactic since Elle constantly talked about him, and I mean constantly throughout the book. Of course Elle's phone was tapped, and the feds were going to track Diego through her. There was just no creativity what so ever there to Diego's capture.

I hate to slam a book but this one was just not good, skip it.

P.S. if you stumbled across this book thinking it was romance it isn't. This is purely fiction.

Ripple Effects

Elle Nixon is living the life she’s always dreamed of. As a publicist to the stars, she’s always in the limelight and on the social scene. Diego Rivera, her investor to the stars boyfriend, made them a real power couple in L.A. After returning from Paris, Elle learns that she is with child. Unfortunately, she also learns that Diego Rivera is wanted by the FBI for fraud charges. As the news carries Diego’s picture every hour, Elle finds her life plummeting further and further into a dark hole. She soon learns that while she may not have known about Diego’s schemes, her character is also being called into question. Will she be able to navigate her newfound status?

“Bumped” examines love, hate, hormones, betrayal and lies while trying to reevaluate and reinvent one’s self. I love how Nash transforms the “it.” My issues mainly are in editing. There is either a word too many or, in some cases, too few. Aside from that, “Bumped” is a current, life-changing experience that others will easily find relatable.

So I got to about 31% before I quit. I mean where was this going? Who wants to repeatedly read about where Diego is? Where was the growth in this character. Who has aha moments then goes right back to whining about their situation? If she realized her life revolved around her job and her man...why not take her in a different direction? Where we see her development? There was no development of the other characters. We never got to know who Diego was to care about him, except to they met in the bar and went places together....so what? You're pregnant, jobless, about to be evicted, and you go on a shopping spree. There was no development of relationships with so called family or friends. They popped in and out, but why are they friends?

I realized it could have changed the more you read, but from some of the reviews didn't seem like it. I just do it. I found my self skimming just to get to something interesting.

I purchased this ebook because so many of my online reading friends were getting it. There were three things that lowered the stars on this tale. 1) Interesting storyline but it was plagued with errors (missing words, spelling errors, and time lapses). 2) I so wanted Elle is snap out of her fairy tale life and into reality. 3) The story lacked development in a few areas. There were times when I said "come on now" then there were a few moments of "really is that how it's going to play out". Overall, the story has good bones and was well worth the .99 cents and about 3 hours I spent reading it.

This was a fantastic book. I barely wanted to put it down. By the way if you have a kindle like I do I would recommend you get it because it is 99 cents! Since not many people have read it read it now before it becomes popular and gets expensive. Anyways I think that you should read this because for people who are pregnant with no plans it is relate-able and a great story.

Slow start

The beginning of this book had some loose ends that had me confused and reluctant to continue reading. I’m glad I kept going because the story, as most do, started to pick up in the middle. Very good read overall.

This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotions with so many questions. I can't wait for Popped to see if they are answered.

Elle Nixon appears to have it all. She has a great career and a perfect man who lavishes her with gifts and trips. When Elle ends up pregnant and Diego disappears, her life becomes a journey towards discovery and change.

I liked the concept that Diego has a secret life, but by the end of the book I was left with a sense that I didn’t know enough about the psyche of this man. I wanted to know why his character chose to deceive others including those he claimed to love.

However, the twist and turns of the plot kept me engaged. It was intriguing to see how Elle would handle her entire world collapsing around here. I found a contradiction in the character of a woman with such career savvy, yet so completely gullible when it comes to a man. Maybe it wasn’t that she was gullible, maybe she was willing to overlook certain things about him [he said he had no family] as long as he kept her surrounded with the finer things in life.

Despite my questions, I found the plot entertaining. It held my interest. There were moments when I held my breath in anticipation of what would happen next. I love a great story and that may have helped me to overlook some minor issues with typesetting, grammar, etc... I believe readers will enjoy the story. I think that Sibylla Nash has what it takes to create a great plot and tell a wonderful story.

Beneath the surface of “Bumped” lies a lesson for those seeking their Diego. The reader is not told whether Elle simply overlooked an obvious sign or ignored the sign. Diego says he has no family. Was it his good looks and charm which led her to trust him? Maybe his status, influence, possessions, and wealth caused her to ignore her intuition? Overlooked or ignored, we are reminded never to allow the appearance of “having it all” to overshadow the truth of one’s existence. Diego falls into the all too familiar category of being “too good to be true.”

Publicist to music's hottest stars and party girl on the L.A. social scene, Elle Nixon, loves her fabulous life. She works with the who's who of Billboard magazine and has a doting wealthy boyfriend who lavishes her with expensive gifts and attention. It's a perfect life...until her boyfriend disappears in the middle of a high-profile fraud investigation into his investment firm by the FBI. EEK! Now Elle is left searching for answers to her questions. Add an unplanned pregnancy and suddenly walking a mile in Louboutins when happy hour is no longer an option isn't so fab.

Before I dive further into the review, I want to acknowledge the book cover. I am stickler for them! Book covers are what attract my initial attention. How fabulous is the cover of Bumped?! It is cute, girly, pink, and features a woman of color sporting a baby bump and red pumps. Simple and chic. Love it!

After glazing at the cover, I opened the book and didn't close it until the last page was turned. The main character's situation and actions were realistic. Almost every reactive move that Elle made, I would have made. Her snark was really funny. Diego's mysterious character unfolded in a non-predictable way. And the sub characters like Elle's best friends, assistant, and roommate just added to the story. My only gripe were the many punctuation and grammatical errors. Of course I have a critical eye as a copyeditor, but they were noticeable enough to mention. They did not, however, interrupt the story. Bumped flowed smoothly and kept me interested chapter by chapter.

Music is a huge part of Elle's life. This review will not be complete without featuring one of the songs Elle listened to most during this time of her life: Pink - Sober.

Ellie Nixon was living a life that most people dream of. She's a publicist to entertainers in the music industry. This allows her access to people and places that ordinary people will never see. She also has what she believes is the man of her dreams. Handsome, financially well off and an advisor for high profile clientele, Diego is every woman's dream. Ellie has been spoiled by Diego beyond her imagination and she just knows that the next thing for them will be marriage.....but everything that glitters isn't gold.
Soon Ellie finds herself unable to reach Diego and she's being hounded by the FBI as they believe that she knows Diego's whereabouts and details of his criminal activities. Now pregnant, alone and not really wanting to believe that the man she knows as her fiancee' is not who he presented himself to be, Ellie must decide which way her life will go. Will she find Diego? Will she be able to manage her life with all of the sudden changes? The reader of this book will be taken on a journey that shows a woman who must not only confront her present reality but her past as well. The storyline runs smoothly from beginning to end. There was never a moment when I wasn't aware of what was going on. I am just hoping that there will be a second part to Ellie's journey.

Elle Nixon is a well-known publicist to an elite group of celebrities. Elle is definitely in the middle of the social scene in the hottest city, Los Angeles. Elle’s life takes a drastic turn in Sibylla Nash’s novel Bumped. This novel takes readers into the life of a publicist who does not recognize bad company.

Elle Nixon loves and adores her boyfriend, Diego. The couple has everything going for them until Diego disappears and all hell breaks loose. Elle finds herself in the middle of scandal that even her public relations strategies will not work to set her free. Diego’s secrets are starting to unravel and Elle starts to realize that he has left her to take the heat. Will Elle fold?

Bumped is about a woman not being mindful of the company she kept and putting her eggs all in one basket. This book started slow for me but kept my interest. The author provides readers with an entertaining storyline with believable characters. I wanted to read more of Diego’s character and Elle’s reaction to his secrets. I felt there was not enough dialogue between the two characters. I do recommend Bumped to others.

Elle Nixon, publicist to the stars finds her perfect world shattered when her boyfriend's house gets raided and she is informed he is a fraud who has stolen millions of dollars from his clients. Unable to get hold of him and now carrying his baby, Elle struggles to understand the events unfolding around her.

This story was jam-packed with drama and left me feeling incredibly sorry for the lead character - Elle. If she was a real person, even a lifetime worth of therapy couldn't heal her from the damage of the events in this book. I did feel that this book was a 'you think your life is bad? Keep reading' kind of book, to make us appreciate that our life might not be quite as bad as we think. The story had plenty of underlying messages, the strongest I found to be about trust. Trusting other people (or not, as the case may be) and finally, trusting yourself. The book is about appreciating the important things in life and I really enjoyed reading it.

This was much better than I anticipated! It was a free Ebook so I pretty much always have low expectations. With it being so easy to self - publish...well I have my doubts.

This is the story of Elle who is living a great life as a publicist full of travel and parties and she is in love! The book opens up with Elle celebrating her birthday in Paris and her wealth boyfriend surprises her with an appearance. Everything is great and in moments everything changes.

The good:
- pretty good pace
- light entertaining read

The bad:
- the brevity of the book
- lack of character development
- Elle was very annoying for 2/3 of the book

The ugly:
- none!

This book won't win any awards but it was an entertaining light chick lit read!

Okay so this was one of the first books in a while that I really did not enjoy. It was, repetitive, it dragged, and the ending was blah. It was an easy read and It was not long.
But this book took me two weeks to finish. It was boring. It needs a lot of work and definitely need to be revised.
You can definitely live with out reading this book. Trust me you are not missing anything but A lot of yawns. There are some parts as a women I can relate to, about making mistakes in the men we date and not looking at the signs that are in front of us. But this could have been way better. It does have potential. But it needs work.

Rating note: This should be 2 1/2 stars. (Somewhere between "it was ok," and "I liked it.")

This book started off well. I liked the characters. I liked the storyline. The action was nonstop and I kept wondering what could possibly happen to Elle next. I settled in. This was going to be good. But the story started to drag around the last third of the book. The writing lost its edge. It felt as if the author just wanted to be finished and I found myself watching the page numbers to see when I could be finished too. It's a pity. This could have been so much better.

This was a great book. The author does a great job in her writing on the way that you are able to feel the chaos of Elle's world falling apart. It was great to see that in the end she was able to pull herself back together and make a life for and her baby. This is definitely one of my favorite books the characters were very real and likable. I also loved the humor that she put on things despite the situation. I recommend that others read this book they will be sure to fall in love with it. I won this book through Goodreads First Reads.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was a Goodreads giveaway, so I didn't really know what to expect, but this book had me hooked from the first page, and it never got dull. I didn't want to put it down! The story started right away, no plowing through pages of back story. I thought her characters were very believable, and likeable. I also liked that it didn't have the typical fairy tale ending that a lot of chic lit does. I would defiantely recommend this for fans of chic lit.

Prior to getting this book, I'd never heard of author Sibylla Nash; I truly enjoyed reading this book, told in the first person by Elle Nixon, the main character. She has the perfect job, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect life. Things quickly become not so perfect, when Diego disappears while being investigated for fraud at his investment firm. Suddenly, Elle finds herself pregnant and alone. I thought this was a very good book, and would definitely recommend it to others.

Elle Nixon went through a lot with a no good boyfriend, losing her job, and so called friends. This book was okay, nothing to brag about. It dragged on for a while and she kept repeating herself over and over again which made the book even longer. Glad I got it for free.

One of the books you can read on a rainy day. Clever, realistic ,with a concept . Reminds me of Bridget Jones a little bit in style. The protagonist is caught up in reality so hard that at the end leaves you heartbroken. It was a 4 hours reading. Loved the feeling that left me behind.

Good read, the prose becomes more thoughtful the further into the story you venture. Satisfying ending, thankfully not predictable.
