The year is 1352 and Edward 111 is desperate to recruit more archers for his army.
In France he fights to recover those lands he claims belong to the English Crown.
Against him are superior French forces and the bubonic plague raging back home.
For him are a brave set of field commanders, the implementation of superior tactics and the most devastating weapon available to him on the battlefield, the English Long Bow.
The Hundred Years War is synonymous with this weapon, but who were the Archers.
At Mauron in 1352 one of the Kings’ most accomplished Field Commanders was Sir William Bentley who defeated a French Army more than twice its size. How?
Enter Devon farmer and Cowherder of Alphington, 2 metres high and one wide. An archer of extraordinary quality, who in the space of six months will go from herding his cows to receiving a pair of golden spurs from his King..
This is his story.

It is without doubt the worst book I have ever read. It is so badly written with incorrect punctuation that it is, in fact, almost unreadable. As far as punctuation is concerned it is almost as thought the writer has just thrown a collection of commas, semi-colons and apostrophes at the text and they have all come to rest in the wrong place. Whoever did the proof reading/editing ought to be shot; which is a pity as there is the glimmer of a good story there although it stretches credibility to the extreme.

Enjoyed the storyline but it was spoiled by the Grammar and spelling.

A good book wrecked by appalling proofreading, lazy editing, lackadaisical printing and substandard English.
It could have been so good but there are at least five grammatical, syntactical, spelling or printing mistakes on every page. The most frequent mistakes are in the misuse of apostrophes; whether it's mixing up "it's" and "its" or the use of apostrophes before the s in plurals and omitting the ones that should be there to indicate possession. There are other frequent offenders, "of" and "off" various homophones and others too numerous to list.
It's like listening to a singer who sings a song the lyrics of which are brilliant but the singer wrecks it because they cannot hold a tune.

A really good story for 8 year olds who think that the X Men are real.

This storyline had me buy the other 2 books in the series.

For those who are old and padantic!
The faults are spelling, grammar and lack of research.

I found this book hard work . The plot was ok but the book was littered with spelling mistakes and punctuation was thrown in seemingly at random . Sorry , won't be reading any more in this series.
