Tats

Growing up, I always thought of myself as a burden.
I was someone who wasn’t supposed to be born.
A project of a greedy woman wanting the patch but not me.
I was told daily I wasn’t wanted, that I was a failure.
And it screwed with my head.
My art and my job role within the club were my sole focus.
I refused to be tied down, to entwine a woman into this life.
I’ve seen the hurt and heartache a jealous woman can cause.
A different woman or two a night was the way I lived, refusing love.
But I didn’t count on her.
She was too young and innocent in college; I fought to stay away.
But now, years later, my body calls for her, needing a piece of her.
The fight to stay away left me.
I won’t ever settle down; I won’t ever put her in harm’s way.
Casual and fun were it for us.
Until it wasn’t.
She became my world, my everything.
I ensured that she would be kept separate from club life, not wanting her to get hurt.
But it wasn’t my club I had to worry about,
Keeping her safe became my priority.
Because she’s not just my person; she’s my light to the darkness.

Violet

I’ve had a crush on him since I was a teen.
I didn’t think I was even on his radar.
Until I was.
But he didn’t remember, and then I was dealt with a major loss.
I went in on myself,
Focused on my studies and determined to make my parents proud.
Nothing was stopping me from achieving my goals.
But then he came back into my life.
I wanted to have some fun.
We decided to keep things casual.
And it worked for a while until it didn’t.
He became my world, and I became his.
He did everything to keep me safe.
Including keeping us a secret.
One he wasn’t willing to lose.
Even when someone wanted to take me away from him.

This can be read as a standalone but is better if books are read in order to get an understanding of other characters. This is book 3 of 7 of The Devil’s MC series, with a HEA. Due to mature content and themes this book is recommended for readers aged 18+, this novel may contain triggers.

Beside being unsafe I liked the theme about child abuse, because the hero was borne from a club girl who poked holes in condoms hoping to become an old lady, so when she got pregnant all the possible fathers wanted her to have an abortion.
The hero grew up with everyone hating him and the mother constantly telling him everyone wanted him dead.
He had severe issues until college, he was drug addicted and he had sex with the heroine once when he was completely stoned, and of course he didn’t remember it afterwards.
Four years later they meet again, become friends with benefits and eventually they become a couple when he manages to overcome his fear of not being good enough.
Even if the book was not safe, since they both were with op after their first time and before being friends with benefits, and even then they tried to hook up with op without being able, both of them, I didn’t dislike it too much since there’s no double standard and both were trying to overcome their commitment issues.
Usual ending with too much violence for my taste, but all ends well. These people in the mc were really awful, treating an innocent child like that, as if it were his fault if his mother was a whore and his father a spineless pig.

Good book

This would be a five-star read for me, but one thing is really bothering me. Tats mentions how his dad allowed his birth mom to be at the club still, around him and his step mom, despite how she acted and treated them.

I'm really bothered that the author told us Tats' thoughts on how this bothered him (his dad allowing her around the step mom despite her behavior) and us readers not seeing remorse or get a real explanation why he let her on club property. If it was because she took 'care' of the guys, I would have loved to see remorse from the Pres that he allowed that poison around his kid and wife.

I fucking love this one. The whole time, poor Tats never got the family or respect he deserved. But he made his own life away from the Mc, and it took him tell them he was leaving for them to get their heads out of there ass. I can't wait for the next book.

Tats grew up knowing his mom was a club whore, his dad who was an office in the Devil's MC was absent until he married another woman and had a child, then he wanted to pretend they were all a happy family bringing Tats into the fold. Tats bided his time growing up, derailed for awhile but got his chance at opening a tattoo shop and has been waiting until the day he can leave the club and be full owner of his shop. He never thought he would fall for a woman, especially Violet, she is everything he is not. Quiet and beautiful Tats makes Violet an offer, hang out as best friends but with benefits. Violet is so busy with school she agrees but it doesn't take long for Tats and Violets feelings to grow into something more special. Tats lays it all out for Violet, he wants what is between them secret and not affiliated with a club he believes is toxic. His brothers who he grew up with are fighting to keep him in the MC not understanding the rage he holds to the club. A storm is brewing though and an unexpected ally though is watching out for Tats in ways no one else can.

I loved this one. Tats is angry, and should be. He is a bit of a jerk at first but when it comes to Violet he is so sweet and she encompasses his world. Really well done.

Better than the second book as the characters weren't as OTT dumb here, but still out there. I did like Tats, and Vi was a strong character, but again the time jumping. Also, Vi getting almost killed in a car accident while pregnant. To immediately being kidnapped, starved, beaten, tortured for 2 weeks and her baby survived was a little too unrealistic for me. These FMC'S must be part super woman because they get their asses beat, stabbed, assaulted and are just fine within a couple of days. 🤷 I look past it for the OW OTT drama which is in every book. Lot's of violence. And lot's of comeuppance for club whores. Violently I might add, but my little black heart says they deserve it. I mean they're all punching holes in condoms and trying to kill the MCs ol ladies. It's a bit much 😂. Also, there's a lot of feels and crying going on within the club members and I'm not used to that kind of wimpy MC. But they do turn around and shoot people in the head and burn them alive while cackling like evil villains, so I don't know 🤷.

This was not as bad as the first two, but I did find it a tad too redundant, which caused the story to become one note and not all it could have been.

I’m also not holding out hope for future books as several men in this book have totally messed up and I don’t have faith that they will be redeemed or grovel.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I hope this turns out better than the last two in the series *fingers crossed*.

This one was different than the others in that it felt drama-lite, but that was ok for a switch-a-roo. I will say, I REALLY hope she drops this pranking stuff, it’s not cute for grown women going around pranking men. It’s quite immature.

Tats story reminded me of Dagger’s from her other MC series in that they were both abused because their mothers were club whore’s. There were differences though, Dagger’s CW mom was kind, and he was physically beaten quite severely. His family were bigger a-holes, and his h wasn’t as cool as Violet.

I liked both main characters and unlike the other books, most of the focus was on building their relationship not CW’s getting in his ear or manipulating situations. It made for less drama-llama, but a more rounded romance. There’re still the unbelievable action bits, but the couple is together for much of the book which I liked because after Smokey’s back and forth and back and forth and back and forth; I needed something different.

Bottom Line- MUCH better than Smokey’s. I loved that Tats stood up to the club, but I felt like he was WAY TOO forgiving. I don’t understand why none of the abusive old timers were punished. At the very least Tech’s mom should’ve been banned for what she did. If you get banned for touching an Ol’ Lady, then you should get banned for abusing one of their kids.

The chaos level is off the charts in this series with the separations, misunderstandings, constant hospitalizations, hostage situations, kidnappings, false friends, predatory OW’s, vile family members, traitors, deceptions, betrayals, drama, trauma, a llama, and incarcerations.

There are a few things to be aware of – – safety is mixed but there is a lot of groveling at different points in the books. The sex scenes are graphic and they often sound painful. Not sexy.

I am really enjoying it.

Tats & Violet: triggers- sexual assault, gambling, drugs. We've been heard bits and pieces of his story from the start of the series and now he's here to tell it himself. He's the product of a club girl and a member of the MC but was treated poorly because of who his mom was to the club. Because of that, he's got one foot out the door. Violet has had a crush on tats since she was a teen but he was older and didn't notice her until one night. I feel like this author has potential the story is actually good but there's a lot of repetitiveness. She will take the character's issue and continue beating that dead horse by mentioning it in every chapter and sometimes more than once. It gets annoying and redundant. Also I think that there's too much time jumping. She goes a couple of different years in the past then present than future but it's the past that seems too long. It makes it more of a slow burn but you really want her to get on with the story. All in all though, if you weed out the repetitions and all the unnecessary fluff it's a really good book. I did find some spelling and grammatical errors but it wasn't that serious.

My rating: 3 1/2 stars Tats

What I loved: I liked how Tats(H) told the club how terrible he was treated. The way he wanted Violet(h) separate from the club and was all about her even when they were casual made me like his character more.

What I didn’t like: I wanted the club to do more for Tats, because I honestly think he should have left. All because his mom was a club whore who got pregnant on purpose, they decide to treat an innocent child horrible. Not only his mother being a shitty human but his own father was pos who didn’t care how his son was being treated until his old lady told him to be better. Hell even Snake didn’t have his back, especially after seeing how horrible his mother was but still allowed her at the club was messed up and not once asked Tats how he felt about his mother because the brothers said she was good in bed. Or how no one punished the old lady that starved him made me mad. And let’s not forget how they made him watch them have sex with his mother or how they took most of his profits because they didn’t trust him. Well let’s just say Tats deserved way more than just an apology from them all. Also, I really wanted Violet’s uncle to be tortured not a quick death like he got.

***Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: Child neglect, death of parents (mom was pregnant when she died), drug use, h is kidnapped and abused. H is treated poorly by his dad, mother, club brothers, and the women of the club when he was young. h’s parents die in a car crash. It’s starts off with the h having a crush on the H. H also felt a connection with h but he felt he wasn’t good enough. H does drugs to cope with his family life. H sees h at a party and they have sex (h was a virgin). H was drunk and high and doesn’t remember anything. h later finds out that her parents were killed in a car crash. h and H don’t see each other until a couple years later while h is getting a job at the nursing home where H’s grandmother is staying at. H of course is sleeping with ow who also works there (they are just f*ck buddies, not exclusive). After seeing the h again, H asks the h if she is willing to have a not exclusive casual sexual relationship. h agrees. H also doesn’t want his club to know nothing about her. H doesn’t want to be in the club anymore because of the way he was treated. H and h get close and when they each try to have casual sex with others they are not able too. H and h decide to start a real relationship but still keeping their relationship a secret. h lets the club know that they are losing the H if they don’t start realizing how horrible the H was treated and still is being treated. H and h get married with only a few knowing. h finds out she is pregnant and tells the H. H gets into an accident and when he wakes up from the hospital he tells his dad to call his wife. H’s dad realizes how much he messed up and starts to make amends along with the MC. h gets kidnapped by her uncle and finds out that he killed her parents. h gets saved and H and h get their HEA. H stays in the MC.

Final thoughts: This was a good read and I definitely will read the next book.

DNF it I can’t really understand the high rating here sorry but I can’t stand the idea of how this author sees relationships even for MC „ romance“ this is so ridiculous.
There’s nothing special in the writing and between the main characters.

This book was supposed to be the best in this series what?!?
I am for sure not interested in the other ones.

Some reviews say this book is safe but it’s not

I really loved this book! The characters made absolute sense. Yes there was a lot of drama but it wasn’t the same old nonsense over and over again with the same players. This was a huge improvement on the CW’s constantly scheming to get a patch but yet suffering no consequences until the last maybe 10% of the books for their actions. While at the same time still letting some of the culprits remain to only be a problem in the next book or down the road.

Having said that, there was a side character or two who were definitely allowed to remain in the club while EVERYONE knew the dirt they were slinging. And yes, again the old timers were abusive towards their own and didn’t seem to understand that, until it was almost too late. Which makes me wonder how a club would have made it to another generation if they were that stupid, self destructive, and plain spiteful amongst each other, to begin with. But whatever, it’s fiction and sometimes you have to ignore the holes and just keep swimming. The fact only positive was that these characters were truly remorseful and showed true growth and change and were definitely redeemable up to the last page unlike in the other MC series by this author where all the horrible old timers never changed. They only gave half assed apologies but still stayed loyal to the villains or stated on the sidelines doing nothing to repair their ruined relationships with their children.

So I started this book thinking I wasn’t going to like this book. 1) I’m dying for Doc’s book, so anything between me and that goal is unappealing. 2) Tats didn’t interest me in any of the prior books he has popped up in so I wasn’t invested in this character in anyway to care if he got a book or not. And lastly 3) because these characters seemed unrelateable to me. I don’t know what gave me that impression but I just felt like there was no common ground. This was a subconscious thought but I definitely had this sense of not for me with these characters going into this book.

So this main couple is basically together the entire book which is why I rated this so high. It was an entire story that was relationship focused. Not just hemming and hawing their way around each other and only getting together on page for maybe 20% of the book. No. This story was always about the couple together or plotting how to make it work while together. There was a four year separation gap but it was understandable and a one year post reunion where they are “just friends” which is all off page. I wouldn’t have minded if there had been a bit of this on page in the context of how this story flowed and played out because it would have given me more to enjoy. But as it was I was completely okay with these gaps because it left nearly all the page time to be dedicated to this couple and their development together while still showing their hardships and trauma.

I thoroughly enjoy this author’s books even if I am not crazy about how the villains more often than not get away with m#rder before they get their comeuppances. It just drags out longer than it should for nearly all of this author’s books. But this one was just right. The deadbeat dad willing to grow and make amends was admirable and I absolutely could see forgiveness and redemption for him. I still don’t get why the club did what they did regarding keep the CW mother for all those years and seeing and participating in the abuse of a child, but never understanding all that. It really is beyond my comprehension but it was good pain and drama fodder in this story. I truly felt the MMC’s hurt and betrayal.

I will absolutely reread this book. I feel like this is going to be one of my favorite authors moving forward. I literally can’t wait for more books from her. Enjoy.

One of the better MC book by this author. As usual there is lots of drama and violence in the end but I liked this book better than other MC men from this and untamed hell series except Dagger ... I liked his book too. The heroes of both the books are abused and I can understand why their reactions are the way they are.

Both the hero and heroine are lost souls who don't trust anyone but come together and heal each other and fall in love with each other even when they don't want to because they are afraid of losing the one they love or thinking they don't deserve the other.

I really felt for the the hero of this book. He was neglected and abused by the selfish club men and women for no fault of his but only because he was a product of selfishness on the clubho's part. All the guys including his father treated him like the bad guy and didn't trust him because of his egg donor. She doesn't deserve to be called a mother. Crazy of them treating a little kid badly and not the selfish bitch snatch. They treat her nicely so they can f her even though she tried to trap Tats dad and abuses her little son! A kid of 5 has to see his mom being fucked by other men! Their wives/ old ladies treating the KID badly because he could have been their stepson??? Who does that to a kid?? And they want forgiveness! I have to remind myself this is fiction.

There’s a lot to unpack in this book, but it’s safe to say that it’s amazing that the MMC ever quit the Peruvian marching powder AND that he doesn’t have a serious drinking problem. He was abused and neglected as a child and as an adult is seriously shortchanged by the club that is supposed to be his family. Dysfunctional Family FTW indeed. I might have shed a tear or three.
But Tats is definitely relatable. And likable, despite some questionable decisions in his early adulthood. I also like Violet, and I totally understand why they kept their relationship from a club that was gifted at doing them dirty. Violet also comes with a set of emotional baggage complete with a matching train case, so she’s very understanding of Tats’ issues. I love that they try to have a casual relationship and can’t. Their connection is too profound, and their history too significant.
There’s a little bit of convenient plot device going on, but it doesn’t detract from the story, and after so much crying, I was happy to hear some good news.
Bottom line, even if I hadn’t enjoyed the book so much, I’d still give it five stars because it was so emotionally moving. I laughed, cried, and smiled, and I won’t be forgetting it.

I did NOT have money on Tats being a fav for me, but damn if this isn’t the best book by Charlotte McGinlay I’ve read so far!

Jayden and Violet were perfect. It was a breath of fresh air to see them constantly subvert the issues that came between other brothers in the MC.

OW drama? They laugh in those women’s faces while being fully confident in their love for each other.

Miscommunication? Nope. Healthy dialogue for the win.

Past trauma keeping them apart? Not once they got together. Those two were each other’s rocks, and I’m so in love with their romance!

And can I just say how happy I am to finally have this club acknowledge their past shitty behavior AND apologize for it? They put in the hard work to fix their mistakes and make Tats feel like the family he is.

I read these for the betrayal and redemption arcs, but I can’t lie - it was so nice reading about a healthy couple like this. Definitely plan on rereading in the future!

A true love story for Violet and Tats

This is book three in the series and so far the most deep love story of a couple from the Devil’s MC. This book is a tear jerker. All of the characters return plus a couple more. This story gives good historical context about both Violet and Tats as their story unfolds. Violet is sweet, intelligent, clever, and a prankster. Her mom and dad love her to pieces. We find Violet in college studying medicine. Tats aka Jayden is a miracle person who has been searching his whole life for love, a trustworthy love. He has been verbally and physically abused by his vindictive mother and treated unfairly by MC members. Please mind your triggers. Tats begins self medicating to get out of his own head. These two meet at a college party by accident; one that changes their futures. Read On!

Some times this book was hard to read because it made me angry.
In a “so called brotherhood” they allowed an innocent child to be abused for years and no one made anyone accountable and tried to say they didn’t know! They all knew what they were doing and as a club continued to do so in other ways into his adult life.!Unforgivable.
Their reasoning and apologies were pathetic.
Tats had every right to want to walk away from the MC and he should have done years ago.
The book followed the a very similar format to the previous books, just with different characters.
I really am sick and tired of the “pranks” I don’t find them funny to read just annoying and unnecessary especially as they are supposed to be adults.
Some sentences didn’t make sense, words missing or too many words.
Will I read more of this series? Probably

This has to be the worst by far. How in the world are these books getting such high reviews.

The mother, so-called friends, the brothers would have seen what was happening to him as a child through his adult years and would have stepped in, since the sister saw it. The brothers would have recognized him being mistreated as an adult and said something.

I dont want to reread books 1&2 when I am on the 3rs book. Too many years between meetings for the characters to really connect.

I skimmed through multiple pages and was still able to keep up. The overuse of the word "brother". GOOD GRACIOUS. On to the next book because I can't find anything else to read. Probably will be bad as the rest.

Could not have timed this release better

I’ve recently come across this author - specifically with this series. So imagine my surprise when I finished Smokey’s book 2 days ago and realised there was no information available on the release of the next book….then as I’m scouring KU looking for my next read - it refreshes and this book pops up as a new release!

Anyway; I adored Tats and Vi! Everything about them! The friendship they have that becomes the foundation for their relationship. Their treatment of each other, the love they have - it’s just perfect.

Cannot wait for the next one!

Cute and sweet story.

This one is the third book in a series of standalones. I read Smokey first and didn’t care for that one but decided to give this one a chance and I’m glad I did.

This book wasn’t all over the place like the previous one and the plot was executed perfectly.

Tats and Violet have the sweetest relationship and fully support each other in every way.

🔸MC romance
🔸Alpha male and strong but sweet FMC
🔸spicy times throughout
🔸pregnancy
🔸trauma angst with kidnapping and torture of FMC
🔸burn the world for the FMC
🔸she comes before the club in his eyes
🔸OW drama but no cheating

Tats and Violet

This is one tragic love story. Both Violet and Tats had so much lost in their lives that learning to trust was very difficult for them. Especially for Tats because at one point trust and loyalty in the MC and the brotherhood was nonexistent. Violets major issue was to lose her parents and to battle her family for inheritance that was left for her knowing that the family was trying to steal it from her. so much pain and hatred was found throughout the book, but like every novel that this author writes love and forgiveness conquers it all. couldn’t put the book down and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Great Series

This is such a great series. All three books were great. Although each can be read as a stand alone it's better to start from book one. I have to say that I absolutely loved the H and h. The scene between the H and his father was so well written and emotional. We don't always get to see that in MC novels. There was no doubt of the love the two main characters had for each other. Their struggles were different because they both had to deal with past trauma. You could not help but root for their HEA. I cannot wait to read the next book.....I'm completely addicted!

Tats friends- lover’s romance (a devil’s MC series book 3)

I love reading the continuation of this series. Tats and Violet knew each other since high school. Tats mother was a MC slut and verbal abuse him as a child. The MC members treated him badly as a child and adult. Violet and Tats find that they are sexually attracted to each other. They’re also love each other throughout this novel.
