Starla owns a sex shop on Main Street , Kissing Springs , Ky, her friend Poppy has a massage parlour next door . Abused in the street , refused access to her own place Tiger’s Den . Things get nasty and the police are called out before there’s another all out brawl. Paramedic Aaron being called to the scene catches a breath at the woman so serene and the blackest hair he’d ever seen . “ Ice rink? You don’t mean….Yes! The hockey game. It’s a whole big thing in the parking lot after it’s over . Like tailgating but different .” Their stars it seems are aligned because not always he stays in her mind but fate lends a glorious hand and everywhere Starla turns , her Aaron is at hand and she is learning, he is just as pent up and yearning. Aaron Wilson causes her to ring her bell on his next visit and he’s ding dong over her but the line between client and savior, threatens to serve her… “Never? So Kissing Springs popped your hockey cherry then?” The chemistry is sizzling with each meeting and interaction . “Bondage?” “Yes. Using silk ties to bind your partner can be incredibly sensual.” Well she knows her products and shows how to use them . He’s smitten as a kitten for all to see “Starla, he offered to sacrifice his image in this town to stay and help you. You’re gonna see him again.” He looks with those eyes of blue she could get lost in for days. This heady heat has her in a daze and admitting defeat she is in love and that makes her heart skip a beat. Tiger and his Star are set to go far …With this great love story comes all encompassing power , to love with such heat and on fire until their body becomes one with their desire…Even when they’re each doing their own things -her getting hammered on shots with the girls and him hammering the puck to his boys to get shots on goal .” You’re not just a hockey hero Aaron , you’re my hero” with this the Kissing Springs book 4 I’m screaming my heart out and dreaming for more. Very well written Britney Bell , I adored this book so much ! Encore!!! Wow your storytelling is so exciting and hot as all damn , take a bow, and I for one , Thank you ma’am. HOT✔️ IceHockey ✔️ CHEMISTRY ✔️ Desire ✔️ KISSING SPRINGS ✔️ ‘Ace’ Storytelling ✔️ LOVE ❤️

Starla opened an adult boutique, but not everyone is happy about it in the small town. Aaron loves to play hockey, but it is not everything, starting a career as a paramedic helps feel a hole he was not expecting.

Their story is a fun small-town romance with a bit drama, laughter and passion that grabs you page after pages.

This was an enjoyable small town romance. Aaron is a paramedic who starts a relationship with Starla, an owner of a "toy" shop. I love how Starla learned to be comfortable being herself in the face of the town's judgement. The couple seemed to be a perfect match.

Will she finally find acceptance?

Aaron Wilson is a member of the development professional hockey team, the Yellowjackets. His team salary isn't enough to cover all of his expenses. So he trains to become an EMT.

Starla Knight was raised in a conservative town by very conservative parents. She never felt accepted there. Her beliefs in what sex could be clashed with their beliefs of what sex should be, and even talking about sex was taboo. When her parents died and left her an inheritance, she decided to open Tigers' Den, an adult toy store. But she could never successfully operate a store like that in her hometown, so she moved to Kissing Springs, Kentucky. She hopes both she and her store will be welcome there. She soon learns judgmental people live everywhere...

Both Starla and Aaron are familiar with pressure. She wants to be accepted in a new community and to help women of all ages safely discover and explore the sensual side of their lives. Such scandalous behavior for a nice, upstanding young man like Aaron to get involved with someone like Starla!

Aaron's father had been a pro hockey player until an injury ended his career. He's pressuring Aaron to give up his EMT job. But Aaron doesn't want to give up either job. If it comes to a point where he must choose, his need to feel that he's helping others may make the choice for him.

Midnight and Mitts is part of the Kissing Springs, the Midnight series. It's one hot and steamy, instalove, OTT, opposites-attract, small-town, girl gets her hunk romance. Starla is a sweet and sassy girl who has opened the Tiger's Den, a sex toy store, in Kissing Springs. Aaron is a hunky paramedic. Starla's shop ends up being picketed by the local pearl clutchers. When a woman falls during the protest, Starla tries to help. Aaron is the paramedic who shows up, and he is taken with Starla. The two cross paths several times and finally give into their magnetic pull...and friends....it is hot 🔥 hot 🔥 hot 🔥!!! When Starla's business is further targeted, will she stay or go? Can Aaron show her he's all in and that there are people that support her? We do end on a happy note after some minor drama. Their chemistry was pure fire! I just loved Aaron. He was a completely swoon-worthy cinnomon roll!! This was another fun and spicy read from Britney.

This was an engaging book that drew me into Aaron & Starla's lives, tugging at my heartstrings, and compelling me to root for the two of them to find a happy life together. Good personal background for the MCs allowed me to completely understand their struggles and difficult choices they were contending with, as well as their desires and the drive to succeed. Both of them had, in a sense, been channeled into a stereotype by their parents, and they were determined to be their own people, doing what they were passionate about and made them happy. Having that in common, they were able to provide much needed support when challenges came up (and there were MANY). Find out for yourself what happens when a certain hockey playing paramedic gets pushed too far.

Midnight and Mitts is sweet and seductive! Paramedic and star hockey player Aaron balances his two passions while also supporting his family. Kissing Springs newcomer Starla is bold and brave, opening an adult toy store in order to promote her passion for healthy sexual education and expression. I loved how these two meet, and how they keep gravitating to each other. Some conversations were a bit repetitive, but with the stress of their individual situations coming to a head, the drama and desire and balanced beautifully.

A little spice is nice except possibly in a small town. Adorable story of two people trying to be true to themselves amongst opinions of others. Starla faces down opposition to her adult shop while Aaron tries to find balance. Together they find hope and strength in unconditional love. A little bit of angst, sweetness, nosy ladies, picketing, passionate sizzle, hockey, friendship, humor and a forever.

Wonderful! This was a nice read, a little longer than I usually read but so worth it. I enjoyed this book.

Aaron and Starla met when he comes to her shop Tiger's Den to help out a woman who passed out. Aaron is a hockey star but when he's not on the ice he's a paramedic. Starla came to Kissing Springs to open her own adult boutique shop. Starla gets a crowd of women in front of her store protesting that she shouldn't be there. Starla tries to defend her store it's not a sex shop she's there to help people explore. Aaron goes back to the Tiger's Den the following day to talk to Starla then buys a present for one of his co-workers. Aaron is called to the school the following day, but he finds Starla just finishing up her presentation. Starla is at the school to give a sexual health presentation. Aaron helps Starla with her things while his partner loads someone up on the ambulance. Aaron heads back to the Tiger's Den a few days later, when he's asking Starla about a few of her products she tells him she knows about everything she sells. Aaron wants a demonstration so Starla takes him to the private room in the back, then shows him shows him about the tie and what it feels like to be blindfolded. Aaron and Starla make love to one another. Starla hears shouting from the front of her store, she tells Aaron but he needs to head out the back door. Aaron heads to the cafe down the street and tells the busboy that if anyone asks he's been there all morning. A few days later, Aaron is working when they get a call to his parent's home, his father is rushed to the hospital. Aaron's father had a heart attack and his parents will be needed help. Aaron heads to the Tiger's Den telling Starla about his parents. Aaron head to practice and his coach gives him the name of a doctor he can talk to, he's dealing with a lot right now. While Aaron is on duty Starla asks him if he'd like to come over to her house for dinner as just friends. Aaron gets a call and has to leave, but he tells Starla he'll be working late. Starla makes dinner for Aaron anyway in the chance that he'll come over. It's late when Aaron arrives at Starla's they enjoy a dinner together. Aaron is looking for something to watch as Starla cleans up, when she breaks a glass and cuts herself. Aaron rushes into the kitchen and helps her clean her wound, then carries her to her bedroom where they make love. Aaron invites Starla and her friends to one of his games, afterwords they have a tailgate party in the parking lot to celebrate. Starla needs to get a few moments to herself, she's leaning against a pickup when Aaron comes up behind her. Starla finds out it's Aaron's truck she's leaning against, so he lowers the tailgate and they sit and watch the stars in the sky. Aaron has a night out with the guys while Starla has a girls night in with her friends. While putting away inventory Starla hears the protesters outside of Tiger's Den. When Aaron comes into the shop she tells him he shouldn't be there, someone will notice him and word will get around and ruin his career. Starla doesn't want to ruin Aaron's career so she tells him she doesn't want to see him anymore. When Aaron walks out Starla sinks to the floor and cries her eyes out, she knows she had to do break things off with him. Aaron gathers a bunch of his friends, from paramedic to hockey players and coaches. Everyone comes out to help Aaron support Starla and The Tiger's Den, they hold their signs high forcing the protesters to leave. Starla comes out to see Arron's sign that says he loves her. One year later, Aaron asks Starla to marry him and she tells him yes. All of there friends are there to support them. Aaron knows that his life is full, and he couldn't have chosen a better family for Starla.

OMG you'll be fanning yourself!!
Starla moved to Kissing Springs recently, and she opened a shop on Main St. A shop that sells, shall we say, toys for personal use. Yeah, *that* kind. She thought she had gotten away from judgmental people, but when a group of older women start giving her glares in the coffee shop, she realizes she was wrong. Then they picket outside her shop. They actually picket. Someone gets a little worked up and falls down, and the cops and paramedics get called.
Aaron is a paramedic. He gets a call one morning, but he's never heard of the shop that called it in. Tiger's Den? But he gets there and all he can focus on is the raven haired beauty trying to help the woman who fell. Not exactly convenient to have distracting thoughts about her while trying to render aid.
Aaron sees Starla around town a few times, and even stops in her shop to get a gag gift for a hockey teammate. He can't stop thinking about her, and every time he sees her, his feelings get stronger. Soon, neither of them can deny the attraction.
But what will happen when the opposition to Starla and her shop gets worse? Will she be able to stick it out in Kissing Springs? Or will she have to close her shop and leave town?
Oh, this was a lot of fun! The chemistry between them was electric, and they were so supportive of each other. There were themes of acceptance and work/life balance that are very relatable. And it always helps when there's a great group of friends that have your back!
Another great addition to the Kissing Springs world!

Aaron Wilson grew up in Kissing Springs. He plays hockey on the Kissing Springs Yellowjackets. To supplement his income, he took a six-month course to become a paramedic. He loves both his jobs, but he doesn’t have time for a social life. Also, his father is pressuring him to focus on only hockey.

Starla Knight moved to Kissing Springs to fulfill her dream after her parents died. They were ultra conservative and were not happy with Starla exploring her sexual feelings and desires. She opens up Tiger’s Den, an adult boutique, hoping to have a fresh start in Kissing Springs.

A group of older, conservative ladies decide to protest outside of Starla’s shop. One of the ladies gets so worked up that she faints. The paramedics are called, and Aaron and his partner arrive to help. Aaron and Starla are instantly attracted to each other. Another day, Aaron comes into the shop to buy a gag gift for one of his fellow hockey players. Then, they bump into each other at the school. Starla was doing a sexual health presentation and Aaron is there to help a diabetic first grader. Soon after that, Starla’s friend Poppy convinces her to go to her first hockey game and after party. Starla and Aaron finally get a chance to really talk at the after party and they kiss.

I hoped that these two would get a real chance to connect. I knew there would be issues because of Starla’s shop and Aaron’s status as a hometown hero. Cute story.

Disappointing read with inconsistent pacing and zero chemistry for me.

I can’t say I enjoyed this one. The pacing felt off, the flow was clunky, and there were several inconsistencies—sometimes the timeline didn’t even make sense.

I didn’t connect with the characters either. Starla is described as strong and open-minded, but she mostly came across as whiny, constantly making excuses for why she couldn’t stand up to the protestors.

Then there’s Aaron, the supposedly beloved golden-boy paramedic. At one point he’s on a call involving a child in diabetic shock… and somehow manages to wander off to flirt with his new crush instead of helping his partner. He even walks her to her car. Apparently he also has a reputation for flirting with patients’ family members. Romantic? Not exactly. Professional? Definitely not.

The romance itself felt rushed and underdeveloped, and I never bought the chemistry between them.

The random name drops were a bit off-putting, though that part is on me—I didn’t read the previous installments set in this universe. Unfortunately, after this experience, the chances of me picking them up are slim to none.

Kissing Springs Yellowjackets #1: Midnight and Mitts by Britney Bell is a steamy, emotionally charged small-town romance that blends hockey, paramedic duty, and forbidden attraction into one addictive story. Starla, a bold and misunderstood business owner trying to carve out her place in a judgmental town, finds an unexpected connection with Aaron, a hardworking paramedic and hockey player just trying to build a future beyond the rink.
Their chemistry is instant and electric, growing naturally through tense encounters, heartfelt conversations, and shared vulnerability. Starla is a refreshing heroine with confidence and edge, while Aaron is a grounded, protective hero who quickly becomes her safe place. The small-town drama adds plenty of conflict and emotional weight, though at times the pacing feels a bit busy with multiple plot threads competing for attention.
Still, the romance delivers warmth, spice, and satisfying emotional payoff. A passionate opposites-attract story with heart, heat, and a strong sense of place—perfect for readers who love hockey romance mixed with small-town tension and forbidden sparks.

The hockey player and paramedic Aaron. The adult boutique, aka sex shop, owner Starla. Kissing Springs certainly wakes up for this couple. The gossipy old buddies are in full agreement to picket outside the shop, whilst others become customers. The pressures on him come from his father, unwilling to accept Aaron's choice of work. The pressures other come from her choice of business and disapproving townsfolk. The couple have friends supporting them and providing Aaron does not let things interfere with his work, what he does in his personal time is his own business.
A different storyline, that had its moments, such as the girls night in and each were regaling their man's faux pas. There were odd times where I felt that certain things were written without depth ie.. odd instances seemed to have been put into the story, yet something was missing in the narrative and read a little high schoolish in parts. Despite this, it was entertaining.

If you're searching for a feel-good, uplifting read, "Midnight and Mitts" by Britney Bell is a great pick! The story centers around Aaron Wilson, who’s hustling hard as a hockey player for the developmental team in Kissing Springs, KY, and taking on night shifts as a paramedic to make ends meet. His dedication and determination really shine throughout the book. One night on the job, Aaron’s life changes dramatically when he meets Starla during an emergency run—adding a sweet twist to his journey. The mix of small-town vibes, midnight adventures, and Aaron’s big heart make this book both charming and relatable. Starla’s openness and free spirit vibe add to the excitement of the story. It's been a while since I have come across a nice, cute and simple love story. There were no billionaires or multi- millionaire with an ego the size of Venus. No struggle college student or the dreadful insta-love with the huge age gap. This was a simple guy meets girl, girl and guy find a mutal attraction and take the time to get to know each other while dealing with real life stressor along the way.. And it was a lovely read. Starlight and Aaron were simply adorable as they somehow made it work to be with each other and I loved it. The author did a wonderful job with her simplicity and I am now looking to read the other books in this series. Great read for me and if you want just a simple love story to take you away for about an hour this would definitely be for you.

Starla owns an adult toy store on Main Street in Kissing Springs. Aaron is a paramedic who's also a hockey player on a minor league team and this is exactly what he wants to be. When protestors start protesting in front of Starla's store one of them collapses and paramedics are called. Starla and Aaron meet and immediately feel a connection. Aaron and Starla hit it off and start dating but expectations from others keep getting in their way. Aaron's father who wants him to be a hockey player only, the protestors who want to see Starla close her store, can these two find happiness with everyone who seems to be against them. Loved this slow build romantic story, has some steam and great characters. Great read.

Remote for the Win.
Awesome. Starla left her extremely conservative parents and town behind to open her store. An Adult Boutique. After she opens she even does a safety and consent presentation at the high school, which some misconstrue. Then the ole church biddies start protesting outside. She meets Aaron when one of them collapses and he is one of the EMTs that arrives to help. They start going out and enjoy life in their own bubble. After that things calm down then the unsubtle whispers start and condemning Aaron for being with Starla. She can’t allow him to be taken down with her and breaks up with him. Aaron is devastated. What choice will he make to prove that Starla belongs with him and to the community?.

I absolutely love these short stories. They are sweet, fast paced and deliver a HEA worth reading.

Aaron and Starla meet by chance and there is an instant chemistry. But being together might come at a price and they move slow (slow as you can for a 100-page story 😊) with their relationship. Her adult shop is causing quite a stir in town and Aaron needs to decide if his reputation can handle the spotlight that comes with being with Starla.

I loved the group support for her and her shop. The little drama at the end only made their relationship stronger and I wish this could have had a few more chapters, just to prolong the happy feelings It provoked while reading.

This is a very enjoyable 4⭐️ ebook.Starla is tired of the snide comments about her ànd her business so she moves to Kissing Springs to open up an adult store. An unforseen event occurs and Paramedic/hockey player, Aaron, comes to her store. Starla and Aaron have such a powerful connection and sparks start to fly. Will Aaron find balance and realize that Starla is a shining star that leads him home to her? Can Starla get over her fear about being with Aaron and messing up his life? This very talented author will keep your interest with alot of spice and the goings-on in Starla's store. So if it's lots of spice, adult toys, and big strong hockey players you like, then this ebook is most definitely for you!.
