Determined to set things straight, she classes with the dashing director, Ned, over his royal storytelling choices. Ned, initially dismissing the Princess as just another star-struck fan, soon realizes there's more to this royal beauty than meets the eye.

But just as their on-set chemistry ignites an undeniable spark, the paparazzi's prying lenses threaten to expose the Princess's true identity, jeopardizing any chance for a happily ever after.

Can the Princess and Ned navigate the blurred lines between make-believe and reality, or will their love story end up on the cutting room floor?

I had high expectations - this book is meant to be for adults yet it felt like reading a book made for a child.

I couldn’t help myself but cringe throughout the entirety of the book (in its 75 page form). Let’s be real - nobody falls for someone as quickly as Princess Isabella and Ned apparently did! They literally looked at eachother and started planning out the future; sounds like a fairytale to me…

For a short story to break up my heavier reads, this was somewhat a refresher.

A cute short story from the mind behind a new Christmas Classic. A princess of a small country stumbles upon a royal movie set while doing charity work in New York. She’s always loved movies and wants to write her own. When the producer accepts her offer of help she may just find the life experience she was looking for to help her write her Rom-Com.

I enjoyed the premise of the story and how it encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to share their stories, but it lacked a lot of imagery. It was kind of obvious that it was written by someone in the film industry as it read almost like a script. I needed more descriptions of the characters and their surroundings to get a more rounded book feel.

Another cute (but short!) romance by this author. Perhaps there will be a follow-up set at Christmastime, which is her forte. I liked her line, "books gave her a window to the world." That is so true; books transport us to place we've never been and give us experiences we would otherwise be unable to have. A few other lines: "Tomorow is never promised. Live in the moment." "Life is messy sometimes." "You have to own your passion." It was a really quick & easy read, if that is what you enjoy.

Free from author.

A cute story with a New York Central Park setting. It was a short easy read with likeable characters. In a longer form the characters would have been fleshed out and I think make a good full length book. It could use the help of an editor to correct little mistakes but the writing was solid.

This was the shortest rom-com that I never knew I needed! Princess, movie set, love at first sight, need I say more?

Highly recommend for a quick afternoon beach read that you can literally finish in one sitting.

I do wish it was longer and I got to see more, but I wish that with a lot of books! This would make such a cute Netflix movie.

I can’t believe I read this. It was cliche, but I think that’s because its target audience is preteens. Therefore, I gave it 3 ⭐️

2.5 stars. Didn’t finish after 45%. I’m sad that this story wasn’t written more thoughtfully because I really really liked the princess. She was fun and outgoing and curious and bright eyed. She was a strong character that made things happen instead of having things happen to her. She was a great character. But I will never understand an author that wants to write a romance without any of the romance. What is the point of writing a romance in which the two characters instantly love each other? What’s the point? Why not show the building of their relationship. It’s one of the best parts of a romance is finding out how two characters will discover love. I will never understand insta love ever. Especially when like 99 out of 100 romance novels have the insta love aspect because it’s so repetitive and unoriginal.

I tried really hard to look past the insta love which is why I kept ready to 45%. But I just could not take Ned and the princess seriously when they were talking about how special the other was and how much they liked each other and how the princesses’ heart was absolutely broken when she thought Ned did something to betray her. She was like ‘I’m giving up on love’ and ‘I am devastated that this man I’m in love with hurt me this way.’ They literally have spent like 10 hours together and they are waxing poetic already?? Maybe it worked in Shakespeares time with Romeo and Juliet (no it actually didn’t in my opinion) but it just doesn’t work in real life in my opinion. for the way Ned and Izzy were talking you’d think they’d been together for at least 6 months. It just takes me completely out of the story because it isn’t believable. I can’t keep reading because it feels so extremely fake. Maybe if they weren’t so intense about their feelings toward eachother and it was more of an attraction and wanting to get to know one another better that would have been fine at that point.

Also I don’t like that the relationship development consisted mostly of the princess giving us a brief summary in the past tense of the two of them getting to know eachother for the one day they were together. That would have been fine as a way to make a lot of time pass without having to go through too many mundane conversations. But the way this was done the relationship was so brief as it was that we hardly got to actually see them interacting at all. So I don’t want a quick run down of the only other interactions. I want to see them together. I want to hear their conversations. I want to see why they’d like each other. I know the book was super short but I don’t know why it needed to be. Spend some time creating a relationship for Ned and the princess. Initially She should feel so far removed from Ned and people like him that she wouldn’t even be thinking about him romantically in any way at all when first meeting him besides maaaayyybe a passing attraction. It would have made me believe she was a princess even more and felt more believable as a whole and pulled me into the story more fully. Because as it’s written it feels like she is just some normal girl that will swoon after any guy she finds attractive. As they get to know each other, they can then start to fall for one another. I really wanted to read their story because she’s such a fun unique character. I don’t want a rushed romance with zero development with her.

What does a princess from a small European sovereign country do when she is given her first opportunity to travel to America to represent the royal family at a charity event close to her heart?

Karen Schaler’s tale introduces us to a naive woman who has been sheltered all her life. She journeys with her trusted bodyguard to Manhattan and simply can’t quell her natural curiosity and enthusiasm. During a jaunt through Central Park to visit the statue of her beloved William Shakespeare, she comes across a movie set.

Book Quote: For the next eight hours on the movie set, the princess was in heaven. Ned even praised her for how great she was thinking outside the box.

Appalled by the production’s inaccurate representation of a royal afternoon tea, she begins highlighting their errors. It doesn’t take long for her identity to be revealed and the executive producer talks the director into taking advantage of her celebrity to boost the film’s publicity.

If her identity could be kept under wraps, there wouldn’t be a problem. However, what happens when her participation is leaked against signed agreements and the palace finds out what their heir has been up to?

Find out what happens to the blossoming friendship between the princess and director when you read this cute, simple novella.

Book Quote: “Is that the only reason you want to find love? For the research? The princess smiled up at him. “Of course not. I want to find love because, at the end of the day, love is all that really matters. Without love, what do you have?”

This is 2 stories. They are both ‘short story’ introductions to full stories. The first is focused on Princess Isabella’s NYC visit. She runs into a royal movie production in the heart of Central Park, the Princess's plans take a hilarious turn as she pretends to be a movie extra to get closer to the action, only to discover this film is breaking all the royal rules! Director Ned soon realizes there's more to this royal beauty than meets the eye. Book 2 goes the opposite direction when an investigative reporter, just layed-off, is sent to a very small country to restore (post death of crown princess) the countries Christmas traditions. They are very good teasers. They do say the full stories are available online.

Royal Extra After is the perfect story for readers who enjoy a fun romance. Princess Isabella sets aside royal protocol when she decides to check out the set of a film being made in Central Park. What can possibly happen when she makes this detour from her set schedule?

Be prepared to smile your way through the pages of this story. The book is quite short, so do not let lack of time be your excuse for not reading this delightful tale.

Although it ends at a logical stopping point, my only complaint is that I wanted more!

ROYAL EXTRA AFTER by Karen Schaler departs from her magical Christmas stories but does feature royalty. Princess Isabella is in New York for a charity event but gets involved with a movie set in Central Park. She acts out of character and her bodyguard is not too thrilled but then clandestinely helps her.

There is an attraction between her and the director, but it can’t go anywhere, can it? This novella is a quick read and held my interest throughout with likable characters and a cute premise. But it ends abruptly and I didn’t get the satisfaction of a happily ever after.

a royal short love Tory

While, you always know how these romantic comedies end up, it’s always fun to take the trip with the stars of the book. The princess and the director made for a good cast of characters. There was the usual misunderstanding, and a couple of strong supporting characters.
Bottom line, I enjoyed the book very much and read it and one short sitting. I would like to see a sequel.

I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway, and while I thought it was funny and cute, I felt it was extremely short.
The story itself was only half of the book and it left me wanting to know more.
Princess Isabella is funny and quick witted while also being smart and classy, a well rounded royal. My only wish is to know what happens with Ned and Princess Isabella in the future.

Not bad, but not great either. There really was no plot build-up and no real romantic connection/tension. Granted, I think that mostly has to do with how short the book was, and not so much bad writing or anything. I will have to try this author’s Christmas books, since that’s what she’s more known for (and I love the movie versions of them on Netflix).

Super quick read, a charming princess, a movie director and romance in the air. I especially enjoyed the wonderful holiday atmosphere and extra detailed setting in NY Central Park. I can count on Karen Schaler for joy, happiness and uplifting stories.

Super short story. Wished this branched out a tad more. So 2 days of talking to “have feelings” would of made for a great full story.
