This is a thriller, with good, tense parts. There's a lot of foreshadowing and a pretty high body count. Some characters are thoroughly drawn and then . . . they're gone.
The past is important to Brian Bovan, both for his career and his own peace of mind. It isn't until a strange Chinese woman shows up in his life to explain his father's past, that parts are set into motion, when Brian finds out that some things he was told by the government about his father, are really not what they seem (how surprising).
A great beach read.
