fragments of hilcias and taki's notebook

Rate this book
fragments of hilcias and taki's notebook is a work of magical realism.

In its pages you’ll find a migrant kid named Hilcias who works the peach orchards and tomato fields of the Low Country of South Carolina.

He comes to us from the burned out farms and fields of the Salvadoran civil war with his mamí and abuelo.

Because of the trauma they faced on the migrant trail from Central America to the U.S. - Mexican border, he does not talk.

He only speaks in clicks and whistles.

In a serendipitous moment on a Greyhound Bus, he meets a young Iñuit girl named Taki from Point Hope, Alaska who was born with the ability to understand whale speak.

It turns out that she can understand Hilcias.

She is the only person in the world who can.

Together they set out to find a mysterious whale named 52 Blue who sings at a frequency no other whales can hear.

52 Blue holds the secret wisdom of the ages that builds bridges instead of walls, that saves the world from anger and fear.

Hopefully, Hilcias and Taki will find 52 Blue and learn the secret wisdom that will help them save the world.
