Sometimes, it’s your own family who wants you dead….
It’s midnight.
FBI Special Agent Tanya Stone and her K9 dog, Max, arrive at a private island to investigate a suspicious death.
Tanya is undercover, on the pursuit of a vicious organized crime ring. What she doesn’t expect to find is the matriarch of the Kensington family had just shot herself in the head.
Her blood-soaked face lies immobile on her gold-rimmed plate, red splatters on the sterling silver and pristine tablecloth.
But a deadlier danger lurks in the shadows.
A new terror rips through the mansion as a killer targets the remaining family members.
One by one.
Tanya fights off disturbing memories of her own mother’s brutal death to hunt the mysterious murderer.
First, she’ll have to confront the liars, swindlers, and impostors, because everyone in this twisted house is hiding a dark secret.
But one truth is chillingly clear.
The killer will protect a horrific family past by any means necessary. And their next targets are Tanya and Max….

Tanya was running on fumes by the end of this book. It had very little to do with her FBI purpose and a whole lot to do with dirty family secrets. What started out as a friend being shot and an unrelated suicide quickly turned into some major family secrets held by one major family and a respected doctor. Along with the secrets come her two found family sisters who were hired to solve a riddle about this family and someone continuing to anonymously text her about her deceased brother. By the end some secrets were solved, some were not, many more people died, and a major gotcha moment was had. It was a great read that I could not put down.
The latest Tanya Stone (and Max) FBI K9 mystery. Fast paced, very complex storyline, once started hard to put down. See if you can separate the good and evil characters! Well written, great characters. I received this book as an ARC and this review is voluntary.
I was a beta reader for this amazing book. I had so much feedback written down that you would think my review would be longer. i had so many theories about what happened in this book. I only got one right. This family is nuts about 4 different family members assaulted tanya, who is a police officer/federal agent. The characters were well rounded and had great depth and personality. I like the police chief jack a lot he is a great character, and I like Tanya working for him in this small cliff town. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I couldn't stop reading this. Never callin’ my cousins crazy ever again! This begins a little like the classic cozy comedy “Murder by Death”. ‘Everybody has a story’, but the Kensingtons continue in a downward spiral so deep that they come out the other side.
Some sage sleuth advice from the author: ‘To get information, give information’
Fave line: ‘That’s why you went to Quantico and got your badge, Padawan.’
This is a new author for me and let me just say this is a well written story that is packed with a lot of action, twist and turns, mystery that I couldn’t put this book down.
One after another Tikiri belts out the best in characters and plots. Tanya and Max are a duo not to be missed. They truly are the perfect couple. Tikiri keeps the reader engrossed and involved in every novel, every time. Highly Recommended. I received this book from the author and this is my honest review.
Another fantastic read. This time Tanya is sent to a private island to investigate a 911 call about a death. The island is owned by a multimillionaire family. The matriarch has committed suicide in front of the whole family. But the family doesn’t want the police involved. Every member has hidden secrets and they open despise each other. Can Tanya unearth the secrets and solve the multiple deaths? A fast paced, engaging mystery with plenty of action and suspicion. What does the patriarch’s death three years ago have to do with everything? And the niece that died six months later. And how does the paramedic that was shot fit in?
Looking for an outstanding whodunit with fabulous characters and a dizzying array of twists and surprises to keep you guessing? Look no further. This fourth book in the Tanya Stone series checks all the boxes and I admit I was mesmerized from start to finish. Within these pages you will find murder, suicide, a surly sea captain, a wealthy family with a lot of twisted secrets, a hidden will promising a fortune to the lucky person who finds it, and a tangled web of treachery for Tanya to navigate. This author never fails to deliver imaginative stories featuring engaging and vibrant characters, but this suspenseful story deserves recognition as a truly thrilling page-turner. I absolutely adore Tanya’s K9 partner, Max, who is always equally ready to serve and protect as well as chase a stick. I highly recommend this book and this series to all.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book, for which I thank the author, but I am sharing my honest and unbiased review on a completely voluntary basis.
Black Rock really is a cozy little place, beautiful coastline, lovely islands - but this is not a cozy mystery. This is evil incarnate spreading in a family. Seemed like it wouldn't take long for Tanya, but she should know it is never as simple as just taking statements.
She is driven by the need for justice and she is not afraid to get involved. Keep her friends out of it - as if they would listen.
This is a well written story which layers personalities onto their actions, and provides twists that you won't see coming. Nothing is ever simple in this story, each detail reveals more, causing the case to blow up in her face.
Tanya Stone FBI agent is undercover in the local sheriff's department. She is called to investigate a possible suicide on the local island. The head of the family killer herself and told everyone who ever can find her last will and testament will get everything. Asha and Katy are hired by a family member to find this will. Someone in this family wants everything and will do what it takes including murder.
What a fantastic story! There is a lot of action at Kensington Manor. The characters are well-described, and the matriarch causes tension in the family. Ocean and Sahara are quite the characters. Does Tanya find out who the killer is in time?
Parts of this were really good but I just couldn’t get past the dog. There is no way a police-trained German shepherd acts like a golden retriever and solves everything with zero commands. Can’t bring myself to read more of this series
Absolutely brilliant book hooked from the start couldn't put it down superb well written and a great cast of characters and story line so many twist and turns superb
