Scoring & Scheming

One hook-up. One night. That’s all it takes for their lives to change forever. But will the struggles along the way bring them together or keep them from creating the life they always dreamed of?
Lane Capsley's pranks are legendary. His life in the MLB is just taking off, but when he finally hooks up with the girl he's been pining after, his world gets turned upside down. His biggest prank yet lands him in hot water with his coach, forcing him to work within the inner operation of his baseball team.
Nova tries not to take life too seriously outside of work. Known by the people closest to her for her notorious streak of lying to get what she wants, it takes a fortune teller at a Renaissance Faire to put her in her place. That’s never all it is when the outfielder she hooked up with is forced to work with her because of his prank gone wrong. The prank? Stealing the coach’s engagement ring. But the location of the missing ring? That’s Nova’s secret.
The tension they’ve had since their first night of passion is impossible to deny; their banter is off the charts, and the way they both keep coming back for more is unhinged—all of it stemming from that one night. One night that leads them to connect through more than just baseball in a way that neither of them expected….
Is six months enough time for Lane and Nova to fall for each other, or will they fall apart while trying to adjust their lives around each other? Will they score around the biggest scheme of their lives, or will they keep scheming until they score?

This second book in the Falling for the Angels series had me SWOONING!

Lane & Nova are such fun characters! She is a sassy and strong woman who works as the social media manager for her father's MLB team; he is the star player who is loves a good prank. They come together for what they believe to be a one night thing, whelp, surprise! After a prank gone wrong, they are forced to work together at work,,,and also out outside of work.

Lane & Nova both have some issues from their pasts that they have to face, but the way that Lane is with Nova is so sweet! He refuses to leave her on her own, even if they aren't "together", going above & beyond for her. Their banter is great, & their chemistry is off the charts!

A fun read with great emotional impact too! I found myself tearing up a few times, and if you know me, you know I love a book that makes me feel things!

Thank you so much to Mika for allowing me to be both an alpha and an ARC reader for this book. It made me fall in love with this world you’ve built.

It was supposed to be one night. One night of fun, of inhibitions, of forbidden temptation. Nova let herself give in to Lane knowing this. That one night left a permanent mark on the both of them, they would find themselves inextricably linked, tethered to one another in more ways than one.

Lane Capsley can’t keep mystery girl off his mind, her taste is still on his lips and her touch is embedded in his memory. Mostly he’s worried about the ring that has now gone missing. Lane hasn’t got the best reputation. He’s supposed to be the team captain. Instead, he’s mostly known as a serial prankster and after his latest prank stealing and now losing the coach’s engagement ring has landed him in hot water, he’ll do anything to get back in the coach’s good graces. So he agrees to work with the coach’s daughter on a social media campaign to help not only his reputation, but that of the team. When to his surprise, mystery girl, Nova, turns out to be the coach’s daughter. This may just work out for him

Nova has a tumultuous relationship with her mother and her father after their divorce. Even her relationship with her best friend, Lexi, is somewhat strained. It’s like a battle for her to daily express her truth instead of burying it. Nova kept hoping staying near her dad would allow them to somehow remain important to him and her parents would reunite. So she works as his social media manager, for the Angels, when of course her one night with Lane comes back to bite her in the ass. Not only does she find herself pregnant, but she also is now having to work intimately with him to repair the team’s image. It’s clear her trauma from her parents and her history with Lexi doesn’t let her see what real love can be.

Mika does a beautiful job developing these characters, stripping them bare so they can find that they truly need each other. It’s not about convenience, there is true connection, electricity, and irrevocable love. Lane and Nova both have pasts that have shaped who they want to be in the future, it’s a bit of that fear mixed with hope that makes them so perfect.

This book has it all spice, banter, humor, personal obstacles, and sensitivity. You will laugh, cry, and swoon. Your heart will break, but don’t worry it’ll get put back together. The way I fell in love with these characters cannot be understated. If you love baseball, push and pull, spice, banter, and character growth. This is the book for you, out on Amazon and KU 4/30. Add it to your TBR.

“You’re going to give me my clothes, or I’m going to pull you up on this counter and fuck you until you scream my name. Which if I remember correctly, only takes about thirty seconds with my tongue.”

“I’m here, Nova. I’m right fucking here.”

“You fight for each other, you argue until you make up. You leave your work on the field, you bring your heart home with you. And you always say how you feel in the moment. No, waiting, no holding it in. You tell him you love him when you know it, and you don’t let a day go by without him knowing it.”

“And even though my feelings are all over the place, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be right now. In your arms, Lane, with you, next to you. You make me feel safe.”

“Do you really think I’d forget burying my cock in that pussy of yours, Nova? It’s burned into my brain. Every time I see you or think about you, it’s the first thing that comes to mind.”

“You’re mine, Nova. And I’m not ever letting you go.”

Thank you so much Mika for allowing me to join your ARC and street team for this book. I have enjoyed every step in the process and I cannot wait for more readers to join in for the fun.

What happens when a one-night stand turns into something more? When Nova decides to sleep with one of the players from the MLB team her father coaches and she's the PR/media rep for what could go wrong?

Nova thinks she can leave a one-night stand with no strings attached but let's just say Ms.Girl is seriously wrong. When she realizes all the strings that come from one night to bite her in the ass, will she regret it and wish for a do-over, fight it every step of the way, or will she embrace it?

Unfortunately even while on BC our main man Lane unexpectedly gets her pregnant and due to his past no matter what he wants to be in the baby's life. Nova fights him over and over. All she wants is to be friends and to co-parent their child. Her childhood has formed an ideal in her mind that relationships are a no-go, and fights Lane every chance she gets. In the end, things are resolved but when you pair a stubborn coach's daughter and a serial prankster together what more do you expect?

Mika has done an amazing job with creating these characters and showing the way they respond to different situations. The chemistry between the two is TOP TIER. Man GROVELS that’s his woman and his Nova Baby, he’s gonna show her how much she means to him

So thankful for my ARC (even if it took me a while to post the review)!!

Spending time with the Angels is all fun and games in this latest book in the series. Lane is a serial prankster who doesn't know when to not take things too far, but that's the fun of it when you aren't the one on the receiving end haha.

Getting to know him and Nova is a RIDE. I love a sassy woman who don't need no man, but when that man is Lane... it is hard to say no.

This was by far my favorite in the series, Falling For the Angels and I cannot wait to see what else there is in store for the rest of the boys.

Scoring & Scheming by Mika C.C
✨ARC Book Review✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

First off thank you so much for letting me be part of your Alpha (even though I have no clue what to do half of the time… 🫣) & ARC team!

These characters were so much fun! I loved how sassy and strong Nova is working as a social media manager for her father’s MLB team! And Lane I mean who doesn’t love a good prankster!

They both had some issues from their past they had to worth through, but the way they are together is so cute!

Plus their banter & chemistry is off the freaking charts!

If you’re in the mood for a fun read with lots of banter, some emotional moments, and some spicy scenes then this book is for you!

RELEASE DAY INFO!

If you loved Coffee & Curveballs, you'll love book 2!
I loved creating these characters who have such a unique and defining backstories.
Lane Capsley is so much more than just a baseball player and prankster, not just another pretty face, but has a backstory that will have you crying.
Nova thinks that she can get away with lying without repercussions, she dreams like a little girl and lives like there's no tomorrow. Just when she thinks she can get away from her biggest mistake, she realizes she doesn't have a choice but own up to it.
Owning up, moving forward, and deeply connecting to someone are both important factors to Scoring & Scheming.
Not only are the two main characters scoring to get what they want, but they're scheming to get what they deserve.
There's a lot of fun energy as well as some smutty scenes and some deep emotional moments!
Overall i think most will enjoy this story.
One of my most favorite quotes:
"Do you really think I'd forget burying my cock in that pussy of yours, Nova?
It's burned into my brain.
Every time I see you or think about you, it's the first thing that comes to mind."
🥵😮‍💨 you're welcome!

To me, this book is a 3.5 star, so I rounded it up to four.

I loved the two main characters; they grew on me, and even though I knew they'd end up together, I enjoyed discovering how. The writing style wasn't my favorite, and I have no interest in baseball, but it turns out the latter absolutely is not a requirement to enjoy Scoring & Scheming.

Lane and Nova are great together. He needs someone who can challenge him and make him be more stable. She needs someone to make her comfortable enough to be vulnerable. They both have close friends to support them and issues with their families that push them to choose their family. There were a few things that frustrated me about Lane's arguments. While I could see he was trying to put Nova's best interest first, sometimes you need to listen or clearly communicate. Overall, they did come together in an endearing way and it was very interesting to see the main characters from Coffee & Curveballs as side characters and notice how these stories developed side-by-side.

I have to rave about this book. I thought I loved Christian but he needs to move over because Lane has hit a homerun and knocked Christian out of the park. I absolutely loved this story. Nova and Lane are an obsession. If you haven't read the Falling For The Angels Series what are you doing?

Lane is a baseball player and a serial Prankster. Nova is just floating through life just wanting to feel her parents unconditional love. What was just supposed to be a one night stand ended with Nova becoming pregnant.

I applaud Lane for stepping up and being there for Nova as soon as he found out. Most men would just sit on the sidelines until their needed. Because of his past he wanted to make sure his child has a great life and a loving family. I loved how he cared and took care of Nova, even though she gave him a hard time.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I read the ARC but finished with it after the book was released. I rated it 3.5 stars and rounded up. Parts of the book were really intriguing, but other parts fell flat for me, which is why it took me so long to finish reading it. There was a part at the end that I completely forgot about from the beginning.

I liked this one a little more than the first. I thought that Nova was immature, but Lane really made up for it. Did I enjoy that he was a prankster? Not really, it felt (again) immature. But he really stepped up when Nova finally told him that she was pregnant.
