She's just there for one thing...but can Zander Lamar convince her to stay when size really does matter? It was just a typical Monday night at the Wild Hare Ranch, when a beautiful, mysterious woman walked into Zander Lamar’s life. She’s absolutely perfect, except she’s there on a mission and she definitely has no plans to get attached to a handsome werewolf..
But when Zander learns her secret, can he charm his way into her heart and convince her that maybe, just maybe, he's worth sticking around for?
THIS STORY IS NOT A ROMANCE…
Okay, well it is, sort of, but I live and die by the idea that romance has a happily ever after at the end and honestly, both parties had to make too many compromises and the end was too bittersweet for that to be true of this one. It's too reminiscent of what actually happens in real life honestly, and I know a lot of people don't have time for that. If you feel the need to bail out on this one, feel free, as always. You'll be able to jump into book three (coming out October 2024) without missing a beat.
Small Town Girl is a short, instalove fairy tale retelling romance that's part of the Wild Hare Ranch Gentlemen's Club series. It’s a modern monster boyfriend romance with a guaranteed happily ever after. It's perfect for fantasy and paranormal romance readers who enjoyed That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon and Morning Glory Milking Farms. Small Town Girl features an instalove, fantasy monster romance set in our modern day world; a female main character who knows what she wants; a hot werewolf boyfriend with Golden Retriever energy; and annoying brothers who come through in a pinch.
Dakota Cockaday is the pen name of the most unexciting woman in the world. Dakota loves paranormal and true crime podcasts, romance books about aliens, and chicken tamales. She always wants to pet your dog or see pictures of your cat. Dakota hoards blank notebooks like it’s her job. She has no spare time, so she writes when she really should be cleaning the house. A different kind of HEA that feels satisfying but also leaves room for more. This one made me giggle so hard. Once it clicked I literally said "Oh shit, oh no!" Aloud. LOL. In this story size really does matter and poor Zander has a run in with some consequences (and perks too). Such a fun short addition to the series.
Have I devoured nearly the entire series in 24 hours? Yes. Has it primarily been to understand what’s up with these dang pigs which are always present in the background? Also yes. Have I figured it out yet? No. But I’m going to continue reading everything this author has written until I get to the bottom of it 💁🏼♀️
Small Town Girl by Dakota Cockaday is part of the Wild Hare Ranch Gentlemen's Club Series. I really enjoyed this quick read but then again I’m a fan of this author and haven’t found a book by them I haven’t loved. It’s a short novella clocking in at 55ish pages but don’t let the length fool you this is a well done story! This is a cute insta-love tale that has a dose of werewolves that has funny moments and moments that just make you smile. This author is truly a talent in the ability to make you able to lose yourself while reading. The writing is great and the plot is just so good and cute. I highly recommend that you check out Dakota’s books; I know I’m eagerly awaiting the next one.
This is a nice quick read set in the Wild Hare Ranch world. I love all of Dakota’s books and this was a nice, quick novella about our wolf man Zander and a fae fairy. This rates a little lower than her other books as the logistics of their relationship make it a little hard for me to follow (she can only become big a few days a month) so it barely feels like a HEA.

This short and sweet story delivers a delightful escape into Dakota's world. A chance encounter sparks a heartwarming romance, with a touch of realism that keeps things relatable. Funny, cute, and perfect for a quick dose of werewolf charm!
Absolutely loved this story ❤️ Its so funny and a bit spicy too. Who doesn't love an interspecies romance as well as my favourite pig family and Im starting to wonder if I'd be a knotthot 🤔
I am a big fan of this author. I love her writing and the cosy world she's created here. And this sort little story had everything that I've come to expect and love. I was surprised at the direction this story chose to go, though. It's definitely more of an HFN than an HEA, and actually, I'm not even sure we got to the FN. There were niggles around consent as well, which I was so surprised by because Cockaday does amazing consent in her stories. Now, all of this feels very in keeping with how the Sidhe of our folklore actually behaved, so in that regard its perfect and I'm impressed the author chose to go there, but on the other hand the story didn't end quite as tired up with a bow as I'd have liked.
I'm looking forward to see how these guys all get incorporated into the greater Ranch / Mine world going forward!
This was probably my least favourite of the Wild Hare Ranch series. It was a very short novella that cut off quickly at the end.
I wanted more out of the story. I wanted to see more of who Nollaig brought with her to the land or even an epilogue of what would happen. Do they stay without issues? How do Nollaig and Zander get along after that?
• Wolf Shifter / Fae • Cinnamon roll MMC • ONS with unexpected consequences
Poor Zander made an oopsie, but it turns out kind of OK in the end! I actually thought this one was kind of sweet. While its not got a HEA it is open ended so theres always room for more in the future. It's short and spicy with plenty of the Dakota charm/quirkiness you come to expect from her books. I loved it!
This was a different type of tale between a "fairy" and a werewolf. You can tell they are a good fit together, but there was no mention of mates. They may not have gotten a HEA, but they did get a happy. Read this book and you'll understand.
I love this world and am just trying to find out how I can move to this town! Dakota you have to tell me how to get there, it's road trip time! This was a cute and slightly bittersweet one night romance between a werewolf and a fae woman that wanders into the the club he works at. I loved it!
