The book is pretty basic, but it would be good for those just starting out in life or those who have had no instruction on how to manage their money, particularly in a godly fashion. He uses lots of Scripture to make his points. The chapters are fairly short and easily readable. One chapter gives examples of a personal profit and loss sheet as well as a balance sheet of assets and liabilities.
As noted above, it is basic. There is no advice on investing other than to diversify. There are a few practical tips about saving and being a bit creative about it. Those would be helpful to those with little or no money management skills. Being a CPA, he has had lots of experience counseling people about money, usually because they are in debt and haven’t any idea how to get out of it.
Mr. Katz has a sense of humor that shows through in a few spots. His story about being cajoled into looking for an end table at antique stores has a great observation about how a woman shops, which is quite different from how men go to purchase something. It was enjoyable how he put it, and it was spot on. Good job, Mr. Katz.
His chapter on tithes and offerings was good and necessary. Some years back I read that Christians as a whole only give about 3% instead of the 10% the Lord requires. No wonder so many reap sparingly. So, if you know some young folks in your family or church, you might recommend this book or even read it with them. It would be profitable for them.
I confess that I was weary of yet another prosperity culture book, or to the other extreme, tying salvation with tithing... Instead, I discovered a treasure of scripture, unpacked to reveal an easy to follow roadmap to Godly stewardship. This book brings a fresh perspective to rewards here and in heaven and how we can impact the world around us for Jesus. An informative, encouraging read that has reignited aspects of my God-given purpose. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
I picked up this book expecting to find biblical advice on money management. I did find that, and more. A lot of insights shared in this book are relevant for aspects of life as a Christian which go beyond financial matters. It inspires me to think about my life choices, my perceived purposes, and my relationship with God. It also urges me to rethink my views about life beyond this earth.
When I saw this book, I thought I was going to find the steps to physical and money prosperity. Unfortunately, I have found Trevor far beyond what I expected. I have found the true purpose of prosperity and how to become the good steward pleasing to God and helping others. I highly recommend this book to everybody willing to understand what actually financial freedom is!!
Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about, but this book speaks about good stewardship of money as a response of faith to what God is doing in our lives. The financial freedom comes from being unshackled from the pursuit of wealth to a proper attitude towards money that God will provide. Avoid short-term debt, tithe and follow the wisdom in the Bible to be a good steward.
Great scripturally based advise on getting your affairs in order and your life reprioritzed according to God's will. This book is not about trying to maximize what you own, but how best to serve God and others with what you 've been given. In a word - stewardship.
It heightened my awareness on the importance to glorify our Heavenly Father. Anything else can never get as awesome as Him. I've been allowed to look at things from other perspectives and that, to me, is really precious.
Dear Lord, thank You for granting me wisdom. Thank You for giving me this life. Thank You for everything.
