He saved her from her stalker, but he’s replacing him with a much more dangerous man—himself.
Cervantes males mate for life, and usually through love at first sight. So when Zaid met Lauren Montes, he knew.
But he’s not stupid. He couldn’t just abduct her and take her to church. He didn’t want to scare her.
Zaid was undoubtedly dangerous and positively overbearing. Lauren shouldn’t be this turned on. How was it that everything he did was so hot? He even had a dog, who by the way, her dog was in love with! Honestly, those two fell in love the moment they met... she kind of wished she could do the same.
His Dogged Devotion is a 3rd-person limited dual POV mafia romance instalove quick read. This is a mafia romance with a HEA. There will be crime groups, stalkers, doggy love, steamy scenes, and swearing.
Ok story line but serious editing issues. Readers need the author to write in such a way that, we can picture the scenes before us. It means transitions need to be detailed to allow our mind to make the scene smooth. If we’re told she’s on her back and then suddenly it’s apparent she’s on her knees but we’re not told she’s even moved, it makes for an unpleasant reading experience.
If we’re told the male character is wearing nothing but grey sweatpants, then a few paragraphs later he’s taking off his shirt it makes for an unpleasant reading experience.
Of this was rewritten with the editing issues sorted it would be a very good book.
The idea wasn't bad but the execution was sorely lacking. This book needs heavy editing and a large amount of changes to make it flow properly. The author would say something like it had been seven days since Lauren had been at Zaid's house but she had not seen Zaid in that time. Then Zaid a few days later would say it hasn't even been a week yet since Lauren had been at his home. The dogs conceive and deliver puppies in what appears to be less than a month after meeting. It just didn't work.
The chemistry between the two characters was just fighting after the first date. The first date was cute, and then after that was him kidnapping her and ignoring her for a week. There was no romance, no sweetness, no emotion or connection. There was more dating between the dogs than the people. I agree with grandpa Lo that the MMC was a dissapointment to the instalove, instamarry family tradition. He was instalove but let me ignore her for days on end.
I was immediately put off from the first page at the writing style; it read like a middle school's attempt to string together a story.
"But it's only 113 pages!" So I pushed through. Yeah, I won't get that time back, but I can tell you that characters were abruptly introduced, the dogs disappeared at times, and plot lines were cringey. It just felt very "bare bones" and lacking any depth or development.
A short, steamy, mafia romance that heavily features main characters who love their dogs? What's not to love?
In this novella, Lauren and Zaid meet at the dog park and everything seems cute and romantic. Add in a stalker, some light kidnapping, and a lot of mafia violence and you've got Mari's story. A perfect read when you need a break from some happier romances 😉
This is a cute little read. By cute I mean 'cute'. It's got dark themes including stalking, capture/kidnapping and murder. Obviously a mafia themed story. I enjoy 'mates' and fated mates. And I'm always a sucker for a cute pup.
Got two steamy scenes. Not super descriptive. A good introduction to this specific mafia.
I am indifferent to this novella. It is ridiculous to think they have sex on the restaurant table on their 1st date. I guess they just shoved the food aside. This is one of the worst examples of writing I have read in a very long time. Top 3 of my 1 star reviews. I hope the high school student got credit for writing it. Otherwise, there are some very laughable moments. DNF at 40%.
Stalking/ insta-love/ mafia/ touch her and die/ HEA
Trigger warning: violence/ murder/ assault/ abduction/ public sex
This was very fast paced and fairly well written. I wish we had gotten more character development as well as more spice. I read the third book in this series and that book told me more about this FMCs hobbies than this one did which seems odd.
From one creepy stalker to a "mate" stalker Lauren's life is never dull. Zaid has to learn to listen while Lauren has to learn to embrace her true feelings. A great short read!
There were a few loop holes that needed to be fixed but overall it was ok... Nothing to write home about... I will read the second book just to see where ot takes us. The storyline wasn't bad juat needed more development.
