Adam Longden was born in Derby, England. He moved way out in the sticks, to the edge of Nottinghamshire, at the age of four.
The East Midlands countryside he grew up in clearly had a profound effect on Adam. It provides the setting for his debut novel, The Caterpillar Girl. From as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with music, reading, writing, and slightly later, film; all of which influence and pervade his work and fictional characters.
The Caterpillar Girl was followed by its sequel, Seaside Skeletons, and a separate novella, Eva: A Grown-Up Fairy Tale. Asylum, the third instalment of The Caterpillar Girl series was released in July 2021.
Adam has three children and resides in Nottinghamshire. He supports Liverpool FC and likes walking in woods, keeping fit, hot curries, cocktails and cats.
