Escape Through the Window: A Cult Survivor's Story

Rate this book
This book is the true account of how I gave my life to a cruel and criminally insane cult leader, and how I was miraculously able to take it back and emerge a stronger and more compassionate person. Escape is the first book that tells an insider’s story of daily life ruled by a psychopathic cult leader. The book shows how easy it is to become brainwashed by a charismatic personality into thinking that torture, starvation, and complete isolation are essential to a spiritual life. It is also a cautionary tale for the parents and family members of anyone belonging to a cult, and for people recovering from cults, extreme religions, or abusive relationships.

This was the true story of a girl who got drawn into a cult. What is interesting about it is it tells the whole story from how she was drawn in, when she realised it was actually a cult, how she escaped and the aftermath; how she was severely traumatised and how deeply it affected her current behaviour. The help she receives and how she processes that. A very harrowing experience in all and definitely worth a read.

Interesting

This book shows how deep indoctrinating can go. A young woman meets a 'guru' on a beach and is under his spell. She travels with him and is abused by him physically, mentally and sexually. She runs away many times but then willingly always goes back to him. She finally runs away for the last time but still needs professional help to be deprogrammed.
Interesting read, i didn't realize how much indoctrination could become so deep rooted in a person.
Fortunately this book has a good ending for this you g woman.

Horrifying

This is seriously horrifying. I don’t think someone who has never been in a cult can truly wrap their mind around how terrible an experience it is to be in a cult, and I’m no exception. I can’t get myself to understand it.

Really great book. Absolutely horrifying look into destructive cults.
