In this enchanting novel, an encounter with a mystical channeler allows two soulmates to experience the road not taken and explores the profound impact first love can have on one’s life.

Marta and Kevin discover each other early in their lives, coming of age in the ’70s, only to be separated just when they are on the cusp of realizing the power of their young love. When Kevin’s family moves away, Marta grapples with this loss, as well as their dashed dreams. After high school, she journeys away from her small farm in New Jersey—a place where she was always out of step with those around her—and on to college and a career. She works hard to remake herself and live a life with more sparkle and spontaneity—something she only ever experienced effortlessly with Kevin. But even as she focuses on achieving the goals she believes will ensure her safety and happiness, she remains haunted by what might have been if only she had been a brave enough to seize it.

A chance encounter with a channeler who can transport people back to a juncture in their lives to reveal their road not taken has Marta jumping at the opportunity. But will she be brave enough to channel back to Kevin? Discover what happens as Marta learns that sometimes one must lose something important in order to truly embrace who they are meant to be.

Andrea Ezerins grew up in the small town of Columbia, Connecticut, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut. After spending three decades in the insurance industry, she traded risk assessments for plot twists, publishing her debut novel, Again and Again Back to You, in 2024, which placed third in Fiction-Literary-Love story & Romance category of the BookFest awards in 2025. She is working on her second novel, proving that an empty nest (and a spoiled German shepherd) is the perfect recipe for creativity. Andrea lives in Hebron, Connecticut, with her husband and is the proud mom of two daughters and identical twin sons. When she’s not writing, she’s raising bluebirds and monarch butterflies, running, or flowing through yoga—probably while plotting her next book.

What an endearing story with well developed characters. I especially loved the ending and how the author did not make it sacchrine sweet but more realistic to life. A great debut! Bravo Ms. Ezerins.

If you had the chance to revisit your past to change your present — what moment would you choose?

Brunswick, New Jersey, 1969. When Marta Carini meets Kevin Dixon in first grade she immediately falls for his bright blue eyes and wavy blond hair. She keeps her secret crush to herself — until they coincidentally meet in the nurse’s office seven years later and first love blossoms.

Too soon, Kevin’s family moves away, and the young couple’s dreams are dashed — but neither can escape the strength of their connection. It persists through sensible marriages and the practicalities of normal life, haunting Marta as she tries to move on.
But how do you move on from a soulmate?
When a mystical encounter offers her the chance to revisit pivotal moments from her life, Marta is eager to rewrite their love story. But facing fate means getting answers to questions you never asked…

THOUGHTS:

I just enjoy these metaphysical fictional stories that explores the what ifs, and thought-provoking scenarios. I thought the writing was well done and really captured my attention - a quick read that certainly caught my attention - a new author to me, and I certainly want to read more.

Andrea Ezerins came to our book club last night, and it was wonderful to hear how she came up with the storyline and characters of this book. Again and Again Back to You will have you thinking about the decisions in your life and how we need to allow ourselves to "breathe" and be true to ourselves and the choices we make. Thank you, Andrea, so much for your wonderful story, the time you spent with us, and the lovely stone!! I'm looking forward to reading your next book!

Holy moly this was a great and easy ready. The ending really made my jaw drop. Yes I was on a time crunch as this was a book club book, but I really think I still would’ve read it as fast even without that deadline.
A great page turner, and loved all the local references!

Again and Again Back to You is not my typical read, but I was very curious about it due to the little bit of magic in the form of channeling. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had my expectations subverted at multiple times. Very good read and surprising ending.

Definitely did not expect that ending! What a beautifully well written book that truly makes you feel what the characters are feeling at that moment. It’s complex but not overly complicated. It pulls you in yet makes you think. I’m so grateful to have been chosen to read this book. I hope you’ll take a chance and read this!

I was honored to be selected as a pre-reader for Ezerin’s debut novel. This book was beautifully written and flowed nicely with not one wasted passage. I really enjoyed the main science fiction idea behind the novel of “chanelling” or having the ability to time travel in your mind to a place where you had to make a major decision to see the outcome. The way Ezerins was able to tie the idea between a burn victim boy in Sri Lanka to an American love story was truly unique and unlike any story I have ever read before. The idea of traveling back to major decisions In my own life truly made me reflect on decisions I have made to get me where I am today. A few of my favorite quotes from this magical story include:
-“ Education helps you make sense of the world and where you belong in it.”
-“ She feels her body start to dry and wither as she curls inward, no longer connected to her physical self. She is a leaf in autumn that has dried little by little as the days shorten and now is tumbling down from its perch high in the oak tree. She is falling through time and space.”
-“Maybe I can’t go back in time, but maybe time is a circle like the seasons, and I will be able to come back to Kevin like the leaf comes back to the tree each spring.”
-“ People can spend so much of their life waiting for miracles to happen, they forget life is happening ever day and you need to be present for it, not live with your head in the clouds.”
- “ Your body is in pain now, but it is your spirit we must tend to- because once the spirit is gone, no salves or teas will save you. The loss of spirit is worse than any infection.”
- “ I study what we call ‘ mind over matter.’ I have studied many cases like yours, where the medical prognosis was hopeless, yet the patient has recovered, using prayer, positive attitude, or sheer will to defy the grimmest of odds.”
- “ Maybe her life has been too easy because she made it that way. Life is not meant to flow past you and around you like you are a pebble at the bottom of a swift river. You need to be more like a large boulder-thrusting yourself above the surface, gulping in air, seeing the sun.”
- “Love is not linear. It takes up both time and space, and it is never-ending.”

Ezerins portrays nuanced thought provoking ideas and decisions throughout her book that leads to an ending I honestly did not see coming. My only qualm with the story is the relationship between Marta and Kevin feels underdeveloped and for some reason I did not find myself rooting for them as a couple. Maybe because I could not relate to a middle school lifelong love but I guess they were truly “one in a million lovers”. I do think anyone that believes they could have changed the trajectory of their life from a single decision would really enjoy this thought provoking novel. Bravo!

Have you ever wondered about the road not taken? In this charming book Marta gets the chance to revisit the moment her future changed and experience the magic of going back to follow the path of a different choice. With interesting characters and a thought-provoking premise this well-written story is a quick read that will inspire you to look for your own turning point and ponder the decisions made in your own life.

I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

The premise of Again and Again Back to You by Andrea Ezerins intrigued me. The blurb for the book reads as follows: “Again and Again Back to You is a vivid story about the proximity of the past, present, and future within the context of a life – defining young love.” Hmmm. Wouldn’t that idea intrigue many readers?

The story opens in a remote village in 1964 in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, with Cholan, a boy, who, we quickly learn, has “an unreasonable dread of fire and smoke.” Then readers are transported to Cholan who is running from a devastating fire. To be candid, at first, I was uncertain if Cholan were imagining the fire or if it were real. Sadly, it is real, and Cholan is badly burned.

As he lies on his bed, suffering from the burns, Cholan prays for Vishnu, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, “to come snap his mind somewhere else again as he did yesterday to save him.”

Then the story shifts to 1976 in Brunswick, NJ. Readers meet Kevin and Marta, middle school students returning to school after summer break. Marta has long been aware of handsome Kevin, but she has not spoken to him, feeling he is “out of her orbit.” Back at school, they both sport casts on broken arms. This mishap brings them together, and they also learn they have several classes together. Thus begins a middle school romance that continues into their high school years.

Marta and Kevin plan for the future: college for both of them, then marriage, and a family. Unfortunately, Kevin’s parents announce the family is moving to Vermont. Marta and Kevin do stay in touch, but their connection becomes more tenuous, and they attend different colleges.

Marta continues to think about Kevin, but she enjoys college and finds a career with Sorella afterwards following a college internship there. She marries Steve in what seemed to me to be an afterthought. Steve proposes, so Marta says yes. She sees Steve as being “safe and secure.”

How does Cholan, a channeler, figure into Marta’s story? Marta and Steve both work for Sorella. They are attending an annual convention when Cholan speaks to the crowd, an unusual speaker for Sorella. When Cholan says, “We will take you back to reexperience a moment in your life—not just to remember it but to re-live it.” Readers won’t be surprised to learn that Marta is one of five in the audience chosen to follow Cholan’s directions about re-living a moment. Readers will also expect that Marta returns to a moment with Kevin, and she does.

The next part remains a mystery unless readers delve into Again and Again Back to You. I admit to being more than a little put out with Marta when she seriously considers an affair with Jason, a new member of the team, also married and with children. Their flirting made me uncomfortable. What comes of that flirting? Read Again and Again Back to You to discover the rest.

Andrea Ezerins provided a note with the copy of the book I received from BookTrib. In it, she mentions that the book “includes a coming-of-age story with a little metaphysical time travel, as well as a plot twist that will pull at your heartstrings.” I can agree with her description. She offers book club questions, always a plus to me as a book club leader, on her website. Ezerins is also eager to join book clubs via Zoom. Book club members will have much to discuss following their reading of Again and Again Back to You. Some of those topics include young love, marriage of convenience, friendship, long-tine connections, and more.

Again and Again Back to You focuses on the relationship between Marta and Kevin, who meet as young children in elementary school, and then find themselves crushing on one another in middle school. Before high school begins, however, Kevin's family moves from NJ to VT, causing heartbreak all around between these two who had such high hopes for their future choices and life together. They had a plan.

Ezerins does a wonderful job crafting the lives of both Marta and Kevin, keeping the reader intrigued as the narration bobs back and forth between the two and the choices they make as adults and over time. She writes realistically allowing readers to develop quick connections with these characters ... as, haven't we all wondered about how our lives would be different had we made different choices at critical times? Haven't we all thought ... I wonder what happened to 'so and so?' Ezerins not only writes this scenario quite well, but also provides the reader with the opportunity to self reflect on their own life choices; a hallmark of good writing!

The insertion of the notion of 'channeling,' provides an interesting twist in the novel with Cholan, originally from Sri Lanka, who has experienced a horrific tragedy as a young boy. We learn that as an adult, he has the ability to 'channel' individuals back to relive certain life situations. Thus, Cholan, Marta and Kevin's paths cross ... read more to find out what happens when channeling is woven into the soulmates' lives and how they decide to move forward.

For a debut novel, kudos to you, Andrea! I applaud you for spending three decades in the financial industry and then shift to your right-brain/creative side to both write and publish a great first book - no easy feat. Looking forward to book number two!

p.s. I typically turn away from novels with actual people on the cover; however, after studying this book cover for a bit, I do like the fact that she is walking away from the reader (with stars flickering about), and there is a shadowed reflection of her showing two people, not just one, underneath - hmmm!

This was a really enjoyable debut! First, I have always thought about the what-ifs in my past, so this story really resonated with me in that manner. I felt like I could really understand where Marta was coming from, and why she made those choices. I felt transported to this world in many ways, and only wished that what Cholan offered was actually real! The story does drag a bit in some places, but overall, I loved the concept and it was well executed! Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Our decisions create different worlds, each based on a track that choice generated. And so hypothetically we inhabit an infinite number of worlds simultaneously. That’s the backdrop of Again and Again Back to You, made more intriguing because instead of explanations rooted in science fiction that tend to be dark, Again & Again descriptions are mystical and uplifting. The two main characters, Marta and Kevin, fall in love when they are young. But when one moves away, their young love ends and they take different journeys, always wondering what might have been. An encounter with a Channeler, a person who can transport people back to a juncture in their lives to reveal their road not taken, opens an opportunity. What happens when they explore their alternative worlds? Stories with glimpses to other versions of ourselves intrigue me….an everything, everywhere, all at once outlook. Again and Again Back to You tackles heavy subjects such as regrets for paths not taken mixed with heartwarming optimism that whatever choices we make are the ones that shape us. Thought provoking and meaningful, it's a love story that crosses time and space. Five out of five stars, I highly recommend!

Andrea Ezerins, Again and Again Back to You was an enjoyable change from my usual genre choice. It was poignant and thought-provoking, and very well-written. I was not expecting romantic science fiction or time-traveling, but the more I read, the more the book appealed to me and my need for change. Filled with thoughts of the road less traveled and the regrets of 'if-only' we all go through in our lives, I found the narrative interesting, the characters believable, and the story concept enlightening because it was such a departure from what I expected.

This is not a cozy beach read but a book to curl up with on a rainy weekend when you can ensure you have time to digest its merits. It’s a love story focused on the what-ifs of second chances and do-overs via what the author calls ‘channeling.’

What if you could go back and recreate your life, and things could go differently? How many times have you asked yourself this same question? This narrative is truly eye-opening fiction. The tale is intense and witty; I welcomed the opportunity to read this advanced copy from Book Sirens, the author and the publisher.

The book intrigued me from the title to the end, so I gave it a 4-star rating. Thank you, Book Sirens, for the ARC. This review is voluntary and mine alone.

Okay, let’s talk about this wild ride of a debut. At first glance, Again and Again Back To You feels like it’s going to be your classic love story—you know, the kind you read with a cup of coffee and a box of tissues. But then BAM—it hits you with this mystical, time-bending, soul-searching journey that feels like love just hopped in a DeLorean and time-traveled through your emotional core.

This book is about love, the kind that loops through lifetimes and self-realization. It’s emotional, thoughtful, and full of passion and wisdom that sneaks up on you between all the delicious plot twists. And twists? Just when you think you’ve got things figured out, the story takes a sharp left turn and makes you question everything.

Ezerins tells this tale through multiple points of view, which really amps up the emotional depth and adds layers to the mystery. You get to crawl inside minds and hearts, and it makes the final twist all the more satisfying. It’s nostalgic, it’s powerful, it’s a debut that doesn’t play it safe—and honestly, I can’t wait to see what Ezerins writes next.

After reading the Prologue, I had no idea the beguiling love story I was in for!

A story of young lovers, Marta and Kevin, who are separated when Kevin’s family moves away. Both go on to live their lives, but the question remains in Marta’s heart… what if?

The 1970s nostalgic setting and the thought-provoking exploration of choices not made are just the beginning. The author offers a mystical or metaphysical option to see the life that could have been for Marta. It's an emotional journey that will tug at your heartstrings and may make you reflect on your own life.

Although a bit of a tear-jerker, I was glad the ending was more realistic (as much as possible when dealing with channeling time and lives). It wasn’t all wrapped up in a shiny bow.

This type of story always sends me back into my past, making me wonder not only about my choices but also about missed opportunities and people who have come and gone in my life.

Thank you to @suzyapprovedbooktours and @akezerins for the gifted book.

The time period in this book is pretty long from 1964-2038 but a good chunk of the books takes place in 2003 when the two main characters, Marta and Kevin, are approaching 40 years old.

The book centers around soulmates and how circumstances don’t physically allow these two to be together.

It has an additional story of a man named Cholan who is able to channel and teach others to channel alternate outcomes of specific moments.

Kevin and Marta both channel the same specific moment in their past.

I thought that Cholan’s story was just as interesting as what happens with Marta and Kevin.

I really loved the ending of this book even as it made me a bit emotional.

This is a great read for anyone who has ever felt that deep connection with someone.

I recently got to read an Advance Reader Copy of a new book, Again and Again Back to You, by Andrea Ezerins. I really enjoyed it.

The book is kind of a science fiction love story with a mystical twist. It has something of the feel of The Time Traveler’s Wife (Audrey Niffenegger) blended with Across the Universe by The Beatles. As a sci-fi fan the shifting times of the story really appealed to me. It’s very original.

Again and Again Back to You is a cleverly written story of how the lives of two people intertwine and weave their way through time. It’ll make you believe in second chances.

An Enjoyable Debut Novel

Again and Again, Back to You by Andrea Ezerins is an enjoyable debut novel.

Who doesn’t remember their first love with warmth and nostalgia? Perhaps a twinge of regret and maybe some “what ifs.” Add in a time period of some classic “coming of age,” novels, an iconic song, and a little mystical time channeling and you have Again and Again, Back to You.

The characters are well developed, the cultural references identifiable, and the storyline engaging.

If you are interested in a fun, quick, reminiscing of first love, exploring the “road not taken,” and a little magic along the way, this book is for you!!

A wonderfully enjoyable novel that is very relatable, even with the mystical component of Channeling - wondering what life would have been like if we had made a different decision at one of life's forks in the road. The plot is heartwarming, heartbreaking and thought provoking, interspersed with healthy doses of comic relief. I laughed and cried, sometimes at the same time. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a smartly crafted and well written story.

This is a sweet story. I think each of us struggle with the choices, paths, and adventures that ultimately lead to our final destination. This book explores the regret, alternative choices, and what if’s.

I think the author could have done more with the characters and plot, but I think it’s a solid effort. I’d read another book from this author.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Who doesn’t have a road they wish they’d taken, a decision (or two) they regret… or the secret conviction that they can outsmart destiny if they just try hard enough or get some form of special assistance. In Again and Again Back to You, Andrea Ezerins plays with these and other profundities of life—making for a compelling read that is much more than a conventional romance with a conventional ending.

I love when a story makes you reflect deeply, and this one certainly did.

This book is more than a love story, it’s an emotional journey about how our choices shape us, how even heartbreak can teach us something, and how growth often comes through letting go. It’s a true page-turner that will stay with you long after the final chapter.

A touching, thought-provoking read that reminds us: sometimes the past holds the key to understanding who we really are.

When I read a book or watch a movie I am always subconsciously trying to predict what happens next. Fortunately for me, I was unable to with this book. The author masterfully connects the thread of the magic of first love with the choices we make, while also showing us that even with the ability to explore our “what-if” situations inner peace will always come from being true to ourselves.
