Solid second book. Looking forward to more adventures in the void.

Going through a change in careers limited my reading time, but was finally able to finish this sequel to Empire of the Void. A big bonus was spreading the fun and adventure out over two months! A continuation of Dex and Lacy’s battle with the Emperor and effort to save Earth finds them on an exotic and strange world with lots of interesting species. It has all the flavor of early Asimov stories with a little more romance, but all the same intrigue and plot twists. And robots! Highly recommended.

The story starts with Dex and Lacy making a narrow escape from the Empire’s clutches, only to land on a planet that seems a haven but soon ends up being far more than meets the eye. Here, Dex’s survivalist brilliance comes to the fore as he navigates new challenges with a purpose. Meanwhile, Lacy’s character undergoes significant development, her journey marked by introspection and assertiveness that establishes her as more than just Dex’s sidekick, which sees her story grow even more from EMPIRE OF THE VOID into a hero in her own right.

The author's imagery is out of this world...like literally! He describes the natives as frogs which I can visualize but for some reason in my head they have giant eyes like lemurs or galagos. Does that even make a lick of sense? And the monster they fight off made me think of a rat snake but with arms and legs. Totally gross. There are a few Tarzan references and I found this article from People magazine that showed like 15 actors who have played Tarzan and discovered that I was picturing a cross between Lex Barker and Johnny Weissmuller for Dex. Lastly I want to point out that while yes book 1 has an epilogue the last chapter was 14 and this book picks up where book 1 left off with chapter 15! My nerdy book loving heart loves that so much!

This book was even better than the first!
These books remind me of nostalgic days spent watching tv shows and movies in the summer. This book is fun, the banter gets you laughing, and the adventures never stop. I think Lacy had a lot more growth in this one and she was one of my favorite characters. This story was unique and definitely a great step in what I hope to be a very long series about Dex and Lacy. Seriously. I can’t wait for the next one!
Give this fun series a try and get ready for new worlds full of adventure, incredible side characters like Robbie and a book you won’t want to put down.

My good friend Andrew wrote this amazing epic sci-fi adventure. The book dives you right into the action and plot of this story. Each chapter of the book was very entertaining as you visualize how story is playing out in your head. This book expands the world and takes you on a journey through Empire of Void universe. The story expands on the characters from first book like Dex, Lacy, and introduced new characters too. One of favorite moments from book is when the “Mok Tau Warriors were heading to the Moon”. Which makes the readers believe we are getting another sequel in future one day!!

I typically read contemporary romance, romantasy, mystery and thrillers… so the fact that I binged this in one sitting (literally the day after I finished book 1) should speak volumes!
Sci-fi and outer space storylines never really draw me in, but there’s a select few from Valenza and Valenza publishing I actually REALLY enjoyed and this was one of them!
If you’re a sci-fi reader, or just want a fun adventurous read that’s out of your normal genre, I HIGHLY recommend this!

Better than the first in every way!

I like that it picks right up a the action. I also like hopping into new worlds taking on the Empire’s influence. The introduction of different races of aliens is not only fascinating but also further demonstrates the depravity of the Emperor’s control. I like how close I feel to the main characters. All in all an enjoyable read and pulls you through. It definitely sets up future stories.
