"Ost-Berlin" is the testimony of a city that has disappeared, one that since the opening of the Wall is now only a legend, even if it lives on as an echo, in its architecture and above all its people. In its original form the book was published in 1987 in West Germany. Banned in the GDR, it nevertheless attained cult status there. This new edition includes previously unpublished photos by Harald Hauswald as well as an essay by Lutz Rathenow on the history of the book's impact.
Read through it and would do the German first then the English if needed. Got 3/4 the way through it and switched to English. Enjoyable book but I'm reading it for the pictures more!
