Cute lovely tale for older children
Colin the Capybara meets four of his friends who have different kids of problems. Kate, the kite, Monty and Monkey, Donna the River Dolphin and Josiah the Jaguar all have their own unique problems. How does Colin help? Cute tale teaching children empathy and how to help friends during their troubles. Nice illustrations too.

This is a wonderful children's story that demonstrates the importance of listening with empathy. The book delivers a powerful message about a skill that seems to be in short supply nowadays—truly listening to others. Instead of trying to solve other people’s problems, minimize their difficulties, or worse, ignore them completely, Colin exemplifies what it means to be a true friend. The author skillfully reveals how Colin goes out of his way to ask thoughtful questions and genuinely listen to others, showing compassion and encouragement along the way. Cute Tales about Friendship for Kids
Our daughter really loved the artwork/illustrations. The stories are well conceived and well intentioned - a vegetarian jaguar was a little curious to explain, but I think the message was well received. The variety of scenes are all crafted creatively, with the underlying wisdom;, that sometimes a friend just needs you to lend an ear. Good for our children to have oft repeated, listening is an excellent skill to develop. Some ideas are more effectively conveyed with storytelling, and understanding the power of being a good “listener” is one lesson that can not be reinforced enough. For the moral of this story, I am rating it 5 stars.

Colin has many friends and one morning he meets four of them that are having issues. Kate the Kite is worried because her family wants to fly north. She is afraid she will lose her friends. Colin listens, like a good friend, and comforts her.
Josiah the Jaguar is being made fun of because he is not a meat eater. He is a vegetarian jaguar. What does Colin do? He cares.
He has two more cases to solve, for his friends, all in one morning. What a guy!
He is the good friend who listens and shares an ear-a paw-a hug-and sometimes a tail.
A great, enjoyable read about listening to others, caring, sharing.

I Wish Colin Was My Friend!
“Colin the Capybara’s Listening Adventure: A Heartfelt Tale of Friendship and Empathy” by Jason Hudson is such a charming picture book for children. The author portrayed an animal that I had never heard of perfectly, bringing out its true personality with his well-written narrative. The messages of kindness and empathy are exactly what we all need to experience, and I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a pick-me-up. The illustrations are engaging too. I loved the bit in the back that teaches us about these amazing creatures. Well done!

Colin has a super power, he listens to people, er, animals. And there are several anxious ones he meets on his adventure. A bird afraid of change, a monkey worried about his new role, a dolphin who wants to apologize to her sister, and a jaguar who doesn’t fit in.
Enter Colon and his extra special power, and his friends find some solace and resolve.

Great story, wonderful illustrations, highly recommend!
This book is really great. Even adults will enjoy some of the word play in the story itself and the illustrations are great. The story also has a great message and there are some cool capybara facts at the end with real animal pictures to share with your children.

Many could learn from Colin
Colin is not just a friend to be there to do fun things with, but he’s a friend that has empathy and care for his other friends which is something hard to find. Great story for young ones learning how to be a good friend (some adults should read this too :)

Such a lovely story
As a former social worker, I found the advice Colin gave to the other forest animals to be so validating and helpful. This book is all about being a good friend by really listening to others' concerns. I think this is a great book for kids to learn how to be there for those in distress.

Nice story
Cute story and illustrations with an important lesson after each animal Colin meets. He sure does give very mature advice. I do wonder how much little kids will relate to Colin… Developmentally, listening skills and good advice are an adult thing. But they can gleam some wisdom from Colin. Interesting info about capybara’s at the end.
