The story, Tuesday, of a famous day in recent American history is told with an interesting twist from the point of view of Dave Riggler. The problems of travelling and working from a wheelchair become very real, even to issues of where to put a bag and whether a jacket will fit. Ironically, just as I was reading this I saw a young woman in a wheelchair refusing help and demonstrating delightful agility as she maneuvered her chair into a store. I'm sure my smile was brighter because I finally had some vague idea of what she was doing.

As the world falls apart, the protagonist wonders how people in wheelchairs escape burning buildings when the power's cut off. The advice to stay by a window and wave lacks a certain something. The familiar is viewed through different eyes, from the everyday to the one-day-in-September, and the whole is a short intriguing read, very detailed and introspective but perhaps deservedly so as all too often, those who don't walk are all to invisible and detail-free to the rest of us.

Disclosure: I received a free ecopy of this story from the author in exchange for my honest review.
