I was a retired head teacher, a Northumbrian born and bred, who found in her 60th year that absolutely every door previously open to her was slamming shut at increasing frequency with the exception of one narrow aperture with a faint, fairly untrodden path leading through it. And so it was that along with my husband John, I found myself living in the most isolated part of Europe, hunting for wild wolves, bears and lynx, leaving family and friends behind. This was a relief as they were generally aghast at our wild plans. This is the story, totally factual if also totally incredible, of my life in one of Europe's most unknown and unoccupied areas, having sold up every brick of my former life in UK and decamping to live amidst Europe’s largest wild predators. Just what WAS I doing there? To try to understand you must read my short book.
