Acknowledged as "America's most popular suspense novelist" (Rolling Stone) and as one of today's most celebrated and successful writers, Dean Ray Koontz has earned the devotion of millions of readers around the world and the praise of critics everywhere for tales of character, mystery, and adventure that strike to the core of what it means to be human.
Dean, the author of many #1 New York Times bestsellers, lives in Southern California with his wife, Gerda, their golden retriever, Elsa, and the enduring spirit of their goldens, Trixie and Anna.
A decent horror/thriller. I'm still worrying about the people who were damaged by the Eric thing, the open wounds on the victims and the possible contamination by the mutant DNA. Ugh. Let's hope Rachel doesn't turn into a Rachel thing chasing after live snakes in the Mojave to eat raw and living. Many unusual people live in the Mojave but hopefully not as unusual as what is described in this book.
Maybe it was just the author’s style of writing that frustrated me, I’m not sure. I’ll have to read another of his books to determine. But there was so much repetition of thoughts and the foreshadowing was so heavy-handed… I knew how everything was gonna play out very early on in the book But made myself push through to the end just to confirm.
Although this is an older Dean Koonz novel, originally written when he was a women, it is still captivating. It is kind of a what we evolve into when we push the science too far, Frankenstein and the longing for immortality, all mixed into a great story. Why Hollywood would not think this would make a great B movie is beyond me.
