An excellent examination of the ways in which discourses of race and class bleed into each other via discourses of disease and contamination, but the Gothic seems like a bit of an afterthought. I suppose it's meant to be the culmination - and we can see this in... the Gothic! - but it never really gets fully developed past compelling examples. Still, a damn fine book.

Interesting read, would recommend. Although some arguments could do with a bit of expansion.
